Accessory Dwelling Units are only allowed for single-family detached homes in the county and currently require an occupant to be over the age of 55 or a person with a disability. The proposed regulations will remove the age and disability requirement, update the size limitations and ease the approval process for interested homeowners. The proposed changes are part of zMOD, an effort to modernize zoning ordinances in Fairfax County.
