Faith and Works: Do James and Paul Disagree on Justification?

Faith and works, two topics relating to justification that some say James and Paul disagree on. Is what Paul says in Romans 3:28 at odds with James 2:24? How can we reconcile what James and Paul say about faith and works? Or are they really at odds with one another and the Bible has a problem?

Faith /Grace movement in Church today includes no good work. All you have to do it is blab it. Then grab it. No adhering to the law. They also hijacked Paul’s letters to support the Grace message and not have to live Torah. Do as thou wilt ( which Satanist Alister Crowley says to live this way) but ask forgiveness after it and you will have right standing with Yahweh. Doing the works in alignment with commandments is what makes one righteous.

None are righteous. But one can be covered by the blood of Yahushua, die to the fleshly nature through immersion, and rise up putting on a new man alive in Yahushua dead to sin. We are still tied to our mortal, fleshly tabernacles, but we are inhabited by the Ruach ha’Qodesh and the Torah is inscribed upon our hearts, allowing us to love Yahuah more than we used to love sin and selfishness). As James said, even the demons believe, but true salvation comes from obedience to the commandments - obedience to the Living Word of Yahuah.

We are taught in the typical church today Salvation can only be achieved by Faith and reliance on Gods Grace. It’s not achieved by good works (lest we could boast). Acknowledging the Law/Torah as applicable in our lives today is completely rejected. The fact the services are held on the First Day of the week (Sunday) rather than the Seventh (Sabbath) makes it abundantly clear. If one were to ask the reason why this is in a typical Sunday Church the answer will always be the same. They quote from Paul’s writings every time. The question must be asked then. Is this all due to a misunderstanding?
@nathanieldiaz2845
@nathanieldiaz2845 Месяц назад
The answer is in scripture. ‭2 Kefa (2 Pe) 3:14-18 CJB‬ [14] Therefore, dear friends, as you look for these things, do everything you can to be found by him without spot or defect and at peace. [15] And think of our Lord’s patience as deliverance, just as our dear brother Sha’ul also wrote you, following the wisdom God gave him. [16] Indeed, he speaks about these things in all his letters. They contain some things that are hard to understand, things which the uninstructed and unstable distort, to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. [17] But you, dear friends, since you know this in advance, guard yourselves; so that you will not be led away by the errors of the wicked and fall from your own secure position. [18] And keep growing in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Deliverer, Yeshua the Messiah. To him be the glory, both now and forever! Amen. It's ironic that Paul is the only one with whom we are given a warning not a warning about him but a warning about those who would twist his writings. Because indeed his writings can be hard to understand. And those who don't know scripture AKA that's not the rest of the actual written word of God, will twist his words because they themselves lack an actual Foundation. Or in some cases worse yet play twist his words just like they would any other parts of scripture..

It’s crazy that Martin Luther was gonna throw out James cause he didn’t agree with Paul. Even though James clearly agrees with Yahweh and Christ. Christianity today still holds on to Paul and discards Yahweh, Christ, and all the other apostles.

The church fathers whom all theology is based were pagans. They did not know Yahusha, nor did they have the Ruach ha’Qodesh. They infused pagan doctrines over and instead of true worship of Yahuah. If you have a true desire to worship the Messiah, read the Holy Scriptures and do as they command. Do not hold to the traditions of men. Remember what Yahusha said of the Pharisees, they replaced true worship with the traditions of men.

If we have faith then we abide by the laws of that faith. The Ten Commandments are a good place to start...and we find that the works of the wicked will keep us busy defending our faith. Paul and James were each correct...but Jesus Christ, in his teaching to the Seven Churches in Asia, got it absolutely correct...and it is his teaching that gives every Christian their faith...but, more than this, was Jesus 'working' in his ministry for his Father?

You mean following the fourth commandment?
@JSnyder3333
@JSnyder3333 Месяц назад
Following Yahushua is simple, he laid it out. If you love him, follow his commandments. There are ten of them. If you don’t follow them you are lawless. The fourth commandment especially is an eternal mark to separate His holy ones from everyone else. Why wouldn’t you choose to follow a command from the Elohim of Elohim? The Law is not a burden, it is a delight. He gave us the law for our good, and Yahushua finished the ceremonial law (priesthood, temple, and animal sacrifice). They are no longer needed because He is our High Priest and our perfect sacrifice, there is no remission of sins without blood. You need to ask yourself this day, whom will I serve, the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac and Israel? Or the Dragon, the God of this world. There are only two choices, and time is running out. To obey the Dragon, Do what thou wilt. To obey Yahuah, obey his Torah. The dietary laws will not save you, but do you think they are bad for you? They lead to health and longer life, keeping you away from toxic things that should not be consumed. Confusion arises when things that are not food are called food.

Another thing to consider is James is speaking spiritually about works not physically meaning the desire to do the works within the heart. Because the definition of a work is subjective and were clearly not saved by what we do, but if we don't have the heart and readiness to do it then we don't have the works within our heart and can't be justified.

Bottom line, its either in your heart to seek out a matter because you want to do what your Father has instructed you to do, and you will not rest until the matter has been resolved according to study of the word alone, not tradition or teaching. You want Yah to be proud of you just like any good child, it is your lifes mission to make your Father proud. In this way you use the scriptures to justify your hearts desire, which in this case is obedience. And others will do the same, use the scriptures to do what is in their heart... which is their will, not Yahs. And it is there where the sheep and the goats are separated. Ever wonder why the wicked sacrifice goats.... when the sheep are gathered by their shepherd, whom they know, the goats are left outside the gate.

The Bible has a funny way of being additive in how it presents information. Line upon line, here a precept, there a precept. If Paul says faith and James say works, then it's Faith AND Works together. Funny too how to this is captured in Father's Holy Days. First Passover, which is the faith of being covered and saved in the blood of Christ, then the Feast of the Unleavened Bread, where you're asked to take action in the removal of sin in your life. Even the order is significant: first Faith, then Works. First belief, then Action. It is as beautiful as it is simple.

Paul is talking about getting grafted into the vine and becoming heirs to the promise. Getting grafted into the vine is a free gift based on faith not works. We hear the word, believe, repent, and recieve the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the downpayment of the inheritance, proof we are grafted into the vine. Jame is talking about staying grafted into the vine. Once we have the Holy Spirit it starts writing Gods laws on our hearts and we disciple after Jesus's behavior. If we are following the Holy Spirit and discipling after Jesus, there should be fruit that is produced. The branches that dont produce fruit wither and are burned. ‭Romans 11:16-24 ESV‬ [16] If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches. [17] But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, [18] do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. [19] Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” [20] That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. [21] For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you. [22] Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. [23] And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. [24] For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree. ‭John 15:1-11 ESV‬ [1] “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. [2] Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. [3] Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. [4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. [5] I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. [6] If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. [7] If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. [8] By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. [9] As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. [10] If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. [11] These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

Actually the Torah existed long before Moses, as Genesis 26:5 states clearly that Abraham obeyed God’s “laws, commandments and statutes.” Abraham obviously had some revelation of God’s Law.. but it wasn’t fully revealed and written down until Moses. Abraham was saved by faith according to Genesis 15, not by adherence to the Law.

Faith IS believing what Yah says. If we believe what He says, our actions line up. Yah says OBEDIENCE is the way to salvation. "Obey Me and you will live." "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments" Salvation is a gift and we didn't deserve it because we've already broken Yah's law. But to gain it, we believe Yah and do what He says. He says OBEY. "I know that His command leads to eternal life." The "works of the law" being discussed that flagrantly contradicts Yah if it's talking about His law, is of course, NOT talking about His law. It's talking about talmud. Oral law. Following the works of rabbinical law that was going on in their day and now. Yeshua confronted it all the time. A handwashing ritual, defining work on Sabbath as healing or picking heads of grain, fasting from all meat (vegetarian) in case it was sacrificed to an idol during slaughter, forbidden to pick up anything on Sabbath, a Sabbath day's walk, even preparation day. NONE OF THAT is in Torah. Men made up those commands. Paul also confronted this in Galatians. He railed against brit periah. Timothy, of course, obeyed brit milah. Paul agreed. "Keeping God's commands is what counts." You're doing all kind of gymnastics in order to elevate Paul's words or James' words above Yah/Yeshua's. Unless any writer confirms Yah or Yeshua, they are in error. Therefore, you need no gymnastics. Yah/Yeshua tell us our obedience to Yah's law is what will save us and if we refuse to obey Yah's law, (lawless) we will be rejected. Any writer who does not uphold that doctrine, is a false teacher. So you can try as hard as you can to define terms but bottom line, either Paul and James made it past a Torah examination or they didn't. If they did, they are confirming Yah/Yeshua, not contradicting them. Our job is to make it past a Torah examination as well. Who are we actually following? Paul? James? Someone else NOT crucified for us? You better think long and hard on that one!

At 4:25 you lay out the different connotations of words based on CONTEXT, yet you FAIL to address the Elephant in the room concerning Paul verses James, and their differing uses of the word "justification." The failure occurs when you don't address the party to whom the justification is ascribed by. Christians are "declared Righteous" or "Saved" the very moment they hear the Gospel, and BELIEVE IT. Ephesians 1:13-14 'In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.' James is NOT addressing Justification ascribed by God in James 2. This would be in absolute contradiction to what Paul teaches us here: Galatians 2:16 'knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.' The correct CONTEXT of who James is saying that justification is ascribed by can be found here: James 2:15-16 'If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed ⚠for the body⚠, what does it profit?' James is talking about Faith in action. He is NOT addressing Justification to God. He is talking about being justified to mankind, as a witness of Faith, NOT TO BOAST, but to bring glory to God, as the Holy Spirit works through you to spread the Gospel! Works also result in rewards in Heaven, but that's an entirely different topic. It's very simple: If you believe your works contribute to why you're Saved, you are rejecting what Christ Jesus did by shedding His PERFECT BLOOD on the cross FOR YOU.

So, in effect, you're saying the one word - "justified" - in James 2:24 means two different things in the same sentence (!!) - one meaning with respect to "works" and another meaning with respect to "faith". Your interpretation amounts to grammatical nonsense and a false teaching. That verse make grammatical sense only if James is applying the same meaning of "justified" to works as he is to faith. Stop twisting the words of Scripture to fit your false "faith alone" doctrine.
