They still sound great, but I think they lost a big of their "big stadium rock band OOMPH" when they let go of Castronovo. Steve Smith is a phenomenal drummer, but he doesn't have that same slam and power.
@@davidb.8948 At least Castronovo. I think Pineda has a great voice, but it seems they've endlessly toured that voice to death they way they did with Augeri.
Agree 100%. Its Augeri's song, like many others. The nerve of Journey to actually re-release this song under Arnel's vocal was a slap in the face in my opinion.
Sounds great! Was just watching a video of Journey from 1980 and it amazing to see how the style of Steve Smith has changed so much. He still sounds phenomenal but it is interesting to see the current economy of movement when he plays. Years ago, he'd been reaching over his head to hit cymbals. Amazing difference.
Well said . Steve Smith is so relaxed when he plays, and doesn't hit hard either. These young guys today hit way too hard. That's not necessary, because the sound engineer is going to turn you down.
Glad they are playing newer stuff. Must add the Perry classic "When You Love a Woman" and Steve Augeri's "Higher Place" (Augeri got no love...w/o him there would be no Journey and Arnel)
Steve Perry will always be the heart and soul of Journey, however, that said anyone who cant give Arnel Pineda credit for being an absolute amazing singer is just an egg head.
Also, friggen really guys?! You used to have Jon play rhythm guitar to this song and then you put him on keyboards later on Now that you have Travis on keyboards, you could have put Jon back on guitar. BUT YOU DIDN'T!!! WTF?!?! In that case, why can't Travis play rhythm guitar to back Neal up through the whole concert?
