Faith vs. Culture - Separation of Church & State 

I don't think many know that back in the late 1700s, after our independence, it was one of the first tasks of Congress to print Bibles so anyone could get ahold of one.

When I think of defining politics, it is the discussion and debate of ideas of what is good, right and best for people in a society and nation. Taking God out of the discussion, of what is best, we take out the One who actually knows the truth in how He created things to be and what is truly best for people and a society. How can we not be a part of that discussion? Isn’t that sharing the Gospel and making disciples?

Separation of State and Church sounds better to me… the church will always have a saying in our day to day political decisions because we are a conglomerate of voting people and who can exercise free speech and other methods of influencing. It is the state that needs to back off, and stay in their lane and don’t dictate to us anything.

This separation idea obviously affected most of humanity. I think these two critical issues has its own way of serving a person needs. A person has a body and Spirit in which both State and Faith has to care of. My opinion is that there is no separation between these two concepts.

Religion in politics is a major issue in todays world. Decisions should not be made based off of a religious belief. It imposes on people’s individual autonomy

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE WAS IN A LETTER JEFFERSON WROTE-- AND ALL IT MEANT WAS THAT THE GOV IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF RELIGION!!! THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT WE SEE NOW!

Our government appears to be purely a secular and neutral one as defined by the establishment clause and the free exercise clause. And, there is no religious test to hold even the highest offices in our government. The reasoning behind this is that the framers clearly wanted religious and non-religious plurality to be respected. It does not at all say you cannot be religious in our government (there is no religious test) and even make policy based on your spiritual ideas. But, the moment your religious ideas violate the rights of others (religious favoritism or imposition of ones dogma onto others) it needs to be reigned in. The secular and neutral nature of our government promotes the safety and wellbeing of people of multiple faiths and beliefs, whereas religion itself tends to promote zeal, irrational thinking, superstition, and discrimination, bias, and mistreatment of others outside the religion. On the other hand, secularism can be oppressive to religious communities if it attempts to violate other peoples' rights to practice their religion. (Secular policies and practices must always respect the constitutional principles and civil liberties for all individuals). Let's look at an example or two: In a public school- A coach should be able to pray after a football game. This is this person's right. A coach shouldn't be able to force or request his players to pray with him. (Can offend non-Christian or non-religious players or cause guilt in those who don't participate). Ten commandments at a Christian school (perfectly acceptable in my view). Ten commandments at a public school (violates others' faiths or beliefs; seeks to officiate a religion or its values). Ultimately, it comes down government needing to be impartial and unbiased against any religion or non-religion. The framers wisely decided against making any state religion because they recognized the penchant of religious to oppress other people and the secular and neutral government to be open and fair to multiple religions and non-religious people alike.

The Constitution does not separate church and state. All religions can apply for school vouchers so not promoting one religion.

Freedom of Religion means Freedom from religion too... Sop trying to force your ideology upon the rest of us.

Lets Take religion out of it. If it seems wrong, it is.

Christians stop being alive unto law of commandments in your conscience. Otherwise you will be weak because condemnation of law in your conscience and also you can't live by faith in love of God and Christ.
