I don't see why they won't catch fish and the hook arrangement in the copy looks like it may give a better hook up rate. The Shakespeare Big S lures are copies. The original moulds were 'lost' and they went to a Chinese company that made copies when the wanted to relaunch them.

Hello, in your opinion Can you bend the hook down with pliers to have weedless action?

You could but I think you may loose some of the hooking ability. It is possible to pull the hook back out somewhat and push it back in at a different angle to make it more weedless. Some of the hook shank will be exposed on the belly but it works effectively

Some very interesting and agreeable differences between the originals and the Ali ones. Imo its the actual hook pattern that is slightly different, hence the hookpoint exposure. That said....its ridiculous how well its been copied. Certainly a lure i would experiment with. 👍🏻

So blatant and I understand that companies heavily invest in research but I can’t warrant paying £15 for something I might loose first cast or the hook blunt.

@@TheConstantAngler 100% Ade. Big wrasse/bass will smash those, but not being a millionaire myself either I'd opt for the copies. EDIT: I hope you're healing fast from your operation

It's not hard to make a mould from the original. I know a couple of lads that do that to make their own copies at home. It's useful when companies stop making the lure or don't make it in your favourite colour any more.

@@jorvikangler that's another very good point. Most of the bits we buy are mass produced in countries abroad. Purely to keep costs down, from a business point view. Like you said , making is mold is relatively simple, its just refining the lure to your liking that is the more difficult part

Would you move these across the bottom Adrian I’ve had some success back in the midlands with crawls mainly for Zander very slowly dragging along the canal bed but I seem to just loose everyone I’ve every tried on the coast and as you say the originals are not cheap so I’d love to know if I’m fishing them wrong thanks for any advice

Drag with the odd hop. I’d be using in estuary’s where it’s probably not as snaggy
