It outfished all other lures like Ned’s and small swim baits on Mille lacs this past prespawn/spawn and past fall bite… not only did we catch around 100 bass across two days, 95% of them came off the sleeper craw, the majority of the smallies caught were over 4lbs. It’s a slow drag bottom jig style. The hooks being exposed easily means it gets dull quick so having a lot of craws or a hook sharpener is important. I average 7-10ish before it gets destroyed and I have to super glue it. Hooks will dull quicker than the plastic’s durability (I am fishing rocks, boulders and zebra mussels on Mille lacs). It’s a highly effective smallie lure that no one is talking about. The reason why it’s so effective? It’s super muted and natural. No exposed hook, no jig head to create unnatural noises, looks like a real craw, the claws stand up in a natural posture unlike other lures that stand up in an unnatural way or just lays flat, and once again… MUTED. That’s the key along with the realistic profile. If you think $10 is too much… well think again… $5-$7 per jig… $5-$8/pack of craws… just do the math.. it’s about even.
At $10 a piece, not everyone at the lake is throwing MB... so those who do use it is going to present something that is different then the ones you find at Walmart. Can you do a field test between MB and R2S yabbie craw? I think they would fish similarly.
Although i love the bait, if you leave it in the car on accident on a hot day it does seem to start melting ive had the bottom part of mine start melting over my other plastics
@@ChewyThaoFishing I have enough toys to feed the needy and the greedy. So should I use a MH or H action rod for this lure? Should I use a 7'2" or 7'3"?
I will buy 20 of them if you have them in 4/0 or 5/0! I love the bait but the hook is too small for larger fish. I purchased 3 of them and i love it! Please contact me if you have them in a larger hook option
Very true! Lol. There was a time that I will never forget. My wife and I were fishing during a white bass blitz and the bass we’re eating anything - including a hook with a piece of plastic bag hooked as bait. Fish are smart and dumb at the same time
Not the first craw bait.. river2sea standing yabbi craw is avail weedless/ not a big deal you see the hook and guard. It also stands up...this us nothing new...just has the megabass name to promote it
Thanks for watching, Scott. I agree that this is not the first nor will it be the last version from any company. Im just appreciating the golden age we live in and I appreciate all of the companies being competitive. Only helps the consumer, us.
Thanks for watching, David. What are some things you like/dislike about the craw? Anything that can be modified to make it better? Curious as I have yet to use this as bass season is just getting started in Wisconsin.
@@ChewyThaoFishing Admittedly, I need to continue using them. And there may be a time and place for them, but I’ve had much better luck with a good ol jig and paca craw. It also seems to get hung up more than the dark sleeper.
The whole sleeper bait line are some of the most overrated baits on the market. Dark sleeper is meh. The gill is junk, half of them run off kilter. And the Craw looks so freaking chunky it reminds me of the guy from hunchback of notre dame.
Everyone has their own experience. I have had really good success on the dark sleeper and sleeper gill. I’m excited to have the same with the craw. Some of my personal best has come off a dark sleeper.
