The Pagani version appears to be a brilliant option, though I think it’s a bit big, I think this bezel design would wear better in the 41mm. The Real Tag is way too much money. The mechanical version in my country is $4,000. The quartz is $2,500. That makes the Pagani a great option at about $130 here.
Awesome! Thanks for the review and the tips to spot a fake. I recently bought a calibre 16 Aquaracer and checked everything but your video showed me some stuff I had not checked. Everything works out.
I have a Pagarni Design version which I purchased at least three years ago. It looks fantastic, although the strap has a few sharpe edges, but for the price, I am not complaining.
Really you get what you pay for. Your friend wanted a clone fake, and that's exactly what he got. No use in complaining about the fake not being as good as the real one. Like you said if you like the design look for more affortable watches with more or less the same disign, or save a bit longer for the watch you really want.
Great video and insight. As a owner of the original version of this watch, at first glance I was shocked at the likeness. But as soon as you went into more detail, it's clear this is total junk. Worth £0. Can't believe the movement and lack of sapphire. You would expect it to be on same par as a pagani but with a brand change. No point of this watch. Just buy a decent homage like pagani like you say. Fakes are completely pointless.
Great video as usual, and great informative idea for content since these replicas/fakes need to be addressed more IMHO. Really good intro as well. I feel bad for your collegue here, but this just shows that if you love the look of an expensive watch model and the price is too ridiculous, it's better to seek out the Chinese homage brands in which you mostly get good value for the money. Ok, maybe this Tag model isn't available as an homage atm, but it's still too risky (and immoral) going to the dark side IMO. But if it was purchased as said for curiousity, well Ok then I guess. Yup, those alternatives mentionend are a great buys compared to this junk considering the quality you get for the cost. Also, one thing I'll never understand, be it homages or replicas/fakes: Why is the hell it so hard to manufacture long enough hands? Often you see too short hands. Why lol? Anyways, keep up the good work.
I have the original one from AD, the most shocking diference i saw in only 2 secondes was the TAG HEUER logo on the dial, it has nothing to do with the real one, and the chunky case too, but minutes hand also has a small gap between markers on the real one
Rattly links (folded or not) don't mean it's not stainless steel. Steel on its own is not an expensive material, the machining and finishing is the expensive part. You can totally make a dreadful bracelet out of genuine steel.
Ali express has very good looking black bays etc and they are very well reviewed. I love my San Martins and would not buy one but if you know what you are doing there are better examples.
Why would someone pay $200 for fake Tag when you could buy a real Seiko, Hamilton, Mido, Bulova, Orient, Tissot, or similar for $100-$500? Tag is not even really a watch to show off.
Agreed, I have this movement in a fake tag I picked up for free of a friend. The second hand sweeps then ticks, was going to use it as a sacrificial lamb so too speak as I’ve always wanted to take one apart to then try and put it back together (I will fail, I can tell you now) but I want to learn and we have to start somewhere 🤷🏻♂️ so this fake tag will be my first of many victims lol
Very informative thank you 👍 I purchased a Tag heuer online from a private dealer and someone said to me is it real and that got me thinking but after doing all the checks on my watch I can confirm it's the real deal
I really enjoy your videos normally, and hate or love replica watches and their community, but bashing that watch doesn't make too much sense. Your friend obviously didn't informed himself enough before the purchase, otherwise he would have choose to go with a so called "trusted dealer". He obviously got ripped off unfortunately, but this watch does not represent what a good replica or at least a good replica for $200 looks like. It's like buying a $70 Seiko 5 for $200 from a shady seller and then complaining that Seiko sucks.
And no, I'm not going to say that anybody should buy a replica watch, just that this watch doesn't represent what a good rep for that ammount of money could offer. But buying a genuine micro brand or a San Martin or whatever is always the better choice
