I don't want to suggest that this is the best way to handle false cops and false or corrupt traffic officers / speed cops, but I have not seen a better example of how to do it. be careful out there.
He probably left the scene seconds after the driver and in the opposite direction. Probably find the number plates on the "cop car" are fake too.....😡🤬

I don't know about everyone but this had many red flags. The unmarked vihecle alone 🚩 In the middle of nowhere alone.🚩 outskirt operations need marked vihecles to showcase due restriction. Dude had no radio, no badge 🚩 Chain of command was very weak for a conmen 😁
@@penofinspiration You are raising important points, I think it something we need to make it a habit when stopped by a police officer to first check for red flags. I personally do not check anything as long as I see the uniform. Some of us, need to learn about the basics of how you can identify a bogus cop.
@@MaximumMax our fault is we are either overwhelmed by guilt, we are not always innocent. Or sometimes we are intimidated by their aggressive approach when you "act smart" as they call it. But overall knowing what to look out for will help in some situations
@@redrobiin if i understand you correctly, it's not about that. We can't have cops without their full uniform and then expect people to act as if things are normal. We can't have rogue cops that wake up feeling they don't want to wear a badge and they don't even know why.
The vehicle was the largest concern for me. An unmarked Fortuner with tinted windows... That could very easily have been a setup for a hijacking. Thanks for the tips on the badge, will remember that.
Unfortunately, traffic cops (unlike police officers) have the right to arrive in whatever vehicle they want. They can even use their own private cars to conduct road stops. And you cannot refuse to obey instructions based on the car he is using. The only thing wrong with that Fortuner is the excessively dark windows, which is dark than the legal limit.

I'm glad this didn't turn into a dangerous situation (robbery) However, many people are compliant, not assertive, and dont speak up like this driver, so I am sure the fake traffic officer still got a pay day that day. I hope this video was shared with the authorities.

@@nicolenethomas1968 I know its too late now, but if you ever try to record them again in future, you are well within your rights to drive off if they try to grab your phone. When they are at home and in private clothes, yes... you do not have the right to record them without permission because they have a right to privacy. But when they are on duty and wearing uniform, they are no long acting in their own private capacity but are rather now acting as representatives of the state, and you have the right to record them for the purpose of gathering evidence if you choose to fight the traffic fine in court or if you want to lay a complaint. They probably felt bold enough to assault you because you were a lady and were traveling alone.

A cop might try to flag you down to prevent you from driving into a dangerous situation ahead, but you would possible disobey this instruction simply because you did not like how "dodgy" the road side looks. Best bet is to simply obey instructions and film the encounter. Once they start acting funny (like in the case of the lady you responded to who got assaulted for filming) you can just drive off and go report them to a police station (make sure you upload your video evidence to cloud storage before arriving at a police station).

Just to add to it, civilians can ask for force number/service number and call the nearest station or branch to verify the id of said “official” it can also be verified whether they are on duty or not at that given time. It is in the public interest and they are public servants. They may furnish such information in such a situation.

Thank you for the video... I think we should be all be trained on what a policeman uniform should entail. Personally it'd have been easy for me to comply. from now on I am searching on every S.A official uniform what they should entail. Guys crime is affecting everyone of us it literally has no color. I have been robbed at least 5 times in my entire life starting at age of 9 by an old man from PMB when I went to buy petrol from cutting grass up to now at 43 when twice guys have come inside my place and I have moved so many times thinking some areas are better than others. The crime issue is getting worse, I am getting closer to arming myself.
This guy has incredible eyesight and reading skills. It took him 1 second to verify your vehicle details on the licence disc from over a metre away. He probably had join the dots for toddlers on his clipboard.

I also think this guy was a law enforcer who didn't wear his badge because he was off duty and wanted to do crime with his uniform. We have seen law enforcers do illegal things in SA, like how cash-in-transit heists now seem to have SAPS members now

No official vehicle, and even if they do not have their belt of their uniform on, it's then considered not a full uniform. Even if the badge is on civilian clothes, it does not make the person legal.

I've also got a metro cop on dash cam doing something similar on N1 North William Nicol offramp (claiming I changed lanes over a solid line which I didn't), he let me go as soon as I showed him my dash cam. No name badge and 2nd JMPD guy standing blocking the metro BMW numberplate.
Thanks this can help many people out there who are not aware. I think all of us need to study the uniforms of all our national officials or what they can or cannot do under certain circumstances to avoid skelems like this fool

In Hermaus now .. transferred.. is a by law cop .. Rediwan Stash Botha.. who still works in law enforcement.. despite his new boss being notified completely.. with a copy of the written notice he issued to me in Greyton.. from Caledon Traffic.. impersonating a traffic officer .. but I am ex provincial traffic.. so I exposed him .. but .. he only got transferred to Hermanus to continue as a by law cop .. I even went through court multiple times .. winning . Have copies still .. so don't let him extort bribes by pretending to be a traffic officer again .. he must be able to produce an appointment card asa traffic officer.. not just a by law cop .

@@deliabotha7187 This is my last comment on this matter, and here are my assertions: 1. He was wrong not to have a name tag. 2. The video is a lie as he is a genuine traffic officer. 3. The vehicle belong to the Balfour traffic department and its used for traffic control by traffic officers. 4. The lady in the video is his partner a fellow traffic officer. 5. The person taking the video so maar jumped to a conclusion that he was gonna ask for a bribe which he never attempted to do. 6. Having the video would have provided evidence of him trying to extort a bribe rather than jumping into a conclusion that he was going to ask for it. he should have waited for him to attempt to do so which unfortunately didn't happen. 7. I offered to drive with anyone to go to the Balfour traffic department to confirm what I am saying then I started to hear stories about me having to be investigated just because I did not go with the popular false narrative that was being perpetrated. Then I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.
