Excellent article, my fake one stopped working and the eBay seller had gone, eBay were quick to refund. I also noticed there was a full stop after the word 'Pencil' on the fake one, had to take a photo to see it

Just bought one from market place and i didn't bring my iPad with me. So i rushed to the nearest best buy and tested mine. It looks exactly the one in the store but when i attach it to the pad it doesn't show battery percentage. Im still not sure if its original or fake i have confirm it by going home and connecting it to my iPad

Bought mine in a third party store. It has some of the features from the fake one but it’s authentic and got the confirmation from the apple. I think it just differs from one country to another. But make sure it has all the features of the original one :) mine doesn’t have the mark behind the pencil, it also has the line on the top and the box looks similar to the fake one. However the other pencil text on the top looks like the original one, has all the options on the settings, also see the battery when i connect it to the ipad, have double tapping, pressure sensitivity and other features of an authentic pencil 😊 so don’t panic and just call the apple support.

@@EliasTheDegen mine came from a seller store called “lifecase” and their user name was “donnaeasom99”. I requested a return and put “item not as listed” for the reason. Then I uploaded photos showing the fake Apple Pencil he sent me with the same serial number as a screenshot of this RU-vid video. Just dropped it off at the post office and have to wait who knows how long for a refund. Item was supposed to come from Connecticut to me in New Hampshire… ended up being shipped from China over two weeks to get here and the return label eBay gave me has it going to flipping Puerto Rico! Left negative feedback and blocked him, it’s all you can do. I called eBay last time I got a counterfeit 35w dual usb charger and they didn’t care at all, just told me to do a return - that seller’s listing is STILL up two months the later, claiming to be genuine Apple product too. These guys are so slick because it’s hard to spot these new fakes and most people don’t know any better.

i have a fake one, just like that. is there any way i can connect it to my ipad 10? i know the real apple pencil gen 2 isnt compatible with this model but i really need to work and i can't afford to buy a gen 1 yet so i was hoping that, maybe, there was some way i could use the fake pencil

You can use it - I used mine for a few hours before realizing it was fake. If you don't care about pressure/double-tap and you just want a pointing device to replace your finger, it works, but 1. I think you have to connect bluetooth manually and 2. The battery charging and bluetooth association is very inconsistent, it doesn't always charge and it frequently reboots the connection taking over the screen and not allowing you to do anything for 30 seconds. So I'd say it's not necessarily worth the trouble. But yeah I will probably keep my fake one around as a backup since there's no way I can sell it and it's not COMPLETELY useless. Just make sure you write "FAKE" on the box.

Great video! Another way you can spot a fake apple pencil is removing the tip and looking inside the pencil, you will see a serial number, if the serial number from the box matches with the one on the pencil and has coverage in apple’s website it’s most likely original

Very nice video, I liked how detailed it was. I was almost thinking that I had gotten a fake Apple Pencil 2 from Amazon last year, but it's a legit one. All the tests for the original apply. The thing that made me double think it's real pedigree is that my pencil box wasn't wrapped in plastic. It only has the plastic seals on the ends of the box. But it was sealed. Again, awesome video! 5 👍👍👍👍👍

The battery percentage does not show up on ipad pro it just says apple pencil. You need to go into apple pencil settings to see battery percentage

@@24shayaanfaisal97 I don't really know for sure. I think so. As I use nano glass film, it may interfere. But I can move apps with the pen... I don't know if that counts as a pressure gauge

@@pauloreis5415 to check the pressure sensitivity go in the Apple notes app (already pre installed) and chose the marker or highlighter pen, than just try to touch the nib of the pencil to the screen and if it creates a light smudge and Gradually increase the pressure the smudge becomes darker as you move along, if the smudge(colour p) remains same regardless of the pressure applied, you don’t have pressure sensitivity, this means you have a fake pencil( sorry for bad English)

I bought fake airpod once in morocco i thought it was fake but then i checked the serial number on apple’s website and it recognized the airpods so i thought it was real airpods. It worked just like real airpods, they worked also on Apple Location app. Fake products are more and more good

Before anyone goes off returning their Apple Pencil, keep in mind that a new operating system has come out since this video posted. The layout for the Settings screen in question I laid out quite differently. Double check before you lose a great deal from a company that doesn't play well withe the word "sale."

I just bought a fake Apple Pencil to a random guy for 60 euros. It took me two weeks to realize it. It's working fine for everything except: - I found it weird the battery percentage wasn't showing when connecting it magnetically - Lack of pressure sensitivity: I thought I didn't know how to use brushes in Procreate - Finally: double tap didn't work, and no customization in the Apple pencil settings I'm going to buy another one (second hand) for 90 euros. In the end, I would have spent 10 euros more than if I bought the original right away. I'll end up with an extra "fake but usable pen", and with a lesson to be more careful about fakes next time.
