Anyone else notice the ‘senior technician’ was firstly named “Sam”, but at 10:45 his name changes to “Mike Johnson”? 😂

These videos make me feel so guilty. Before I knew about these scams, my mom asked me to look up Microsoft support back when Hotmail was a big thing cause she lost her password. I gave her the first number that showed up. She called and they did the classic event viewer trick and at the time I had no idea what it was. They were going to charge her $200 and asked for her credit card. She didn't 100% trust them so she said it's not with her right now. They said they can start to remove the virus/malware now and she can provide it later. She said ok and they said to keep her pc on and call back when she gets the card. We stood there and watched them do a bunch of cmd things that probably weren't doing anything other than showing information. I had a bad feeling about it from the start. My gut told me that something isn't right here. My mom said I don't like this and I said neither do I. We decided to unplug the computer. They called back and we never answered. Thank god we knew something wasn't right otherwise she would of be scammed $200 or more. The reason they make me feel guilty is that although it didn't happen, it was very close and I was the one who gave her the number.

As an Indian, I feel quite embarrassed after hearing all these .

Since I began watching Jim Browning's videos the most glaring truth is that: 1] Jim has shown that scams could be *significantly reduced with little effort* 2] Jim has also shown that the people *responsible* for defending the public are either: *lazy, vocationally impotent, and/or corrupt and benefiting from these $cam$*

When my dad gets random scammer calls he tries to sell the scammers his watch until they hang up. Haha

The fact these scammers say "O.K" after every single sentence is just the most annoying thing to hear, ever.

I used to do tech support for Comcast. We did not connect to a persons computer to fix their problems. We had a set of steps that we walked people through over the phone without remotely accessing the customers computer. The only time we connected with anything, it was to configure a router which was rare. Even then, we never had to use customer info because we were at the head end of the connection. We also never went into customers computers, just worked on the router. It took a lot of tech savvy and communication skills do it.

Jim, while I enjoy watching some of the scambaiters who post videos to RU-vid, yours are by far the best videos dealing with scammers, not only because they're so informative and well-edited, but also because you go above and beyond most of the other people who are basically just having a laugh or just trying to waste their time. You're on another level, putting a spotlight on these scam companies and exposing them. Thank you very much for this, it is much appreciated. I share links to your videos as often as possible to try to educate people on these scams, nobody does it better than you.

It’s been weeks since I found this channel because I was using RU-vid for studying to change careers into IT. my beards grown out, my kids barely recognize me anymore. My wife thinks I’m cheating. But I’ve made my way this far back, just checking in to say you’re my damn hero. Your composure to sit and observe instead of always intervening or exposing yourself is legendary. The fact they all scam in similar ways with similar scripts is just insane. Is there a known time period when this started blowing up so much? Or was it always this bad with these scammers since the creation of the World Wide Web?

Note £99 is £1 less than the minimum amount a credit card company in the UK would give protection to this kind of racket.

I remember getting a Microsoft error pop up on my laptop once. I suspiciously called a number given and a woman answered. The first thing she asked was “what were you doing on your laptop before this happened “ And somehow I remembered these videos and I was very suspicious. I listened a bit more and when she told me to get a target gift card I 100% knew it was a scam so I spent the rest of the call asking her questions and doubting her request to get a gift card n she eventually hung up 💀😂

You Sir are my Hero. Years ago I was scammed into over paying by 3,000 dollars for a computer that was only worth maybe 200 dollars at the time. By the time I found out I was ripped off it was to late and couldn't get my money back. Since that day I've been on a mission for the last 20 years learning how to fix computers and electronics and helping other people not get scammed by fraudulent computer shops by trying to make people pay outrageous amounts for products and services they do not need. Thank You again for All the Good you are doing trying to help people.

The technobabble is absurd. He consulted the "server" and found a Mexican in my iPad? My IP address is infected. So is he going to give an antibiotic to a number? So if I use my iPad somewhere else will their IP address get infected too, or does my IP address travel with me for life (something they've claimed). If I go to Canada, does the Mexican in my iPad need travel documents too? Wait, I have family in Mexico. Is it them? Don't worry sir, this is all safe and secure, and the fixation is for a lifetime on all of your dewices.

He got the name wrong even the third time, I can't bare it.

Hey Jim, I've been binge watching your videos and love em. I have a quick suggestion. Please thumbs up if you like it guys, so he can see. Why don't you make a scamming page or an email phishing scam, basically any method they use and instead of scamming you tell people quicky how scams work and how to never fall for them. This way you literally teach the people who are most liable to get scammed.
