Things I've learned today: 1) Manchester people are after my money via the internet 2) Never stare directly at a scan - it gets extremely radiant 3) MS Paint is great for cooking up an ID in a pinch

I actually spat my tea out when she said the screen would be so 'radiant' that it would hurt your eyes and skin. How did you not laugh?

I got a cousin that stared too long at a scan. Burned his whole face off. He's still cool and hangs out and shit, but we stopped inviting him to barbeques just outta respect.

If this was a tutorial for scammers, they'd have to be the most dense out there. It's like watching a documentary about how a serial killer got caught, and then trying the *exact same thing* .

As a 64 yr old and not very clued up with internet scammers , but enjoy You Tube etc. I get calls constant off scam merchants , without your good work ( and others like you ) I KNOW I would of been robbed by now. Thank You and keep up you valuable work. It,s nice to know The world does have good people .

You should tell the Singapore police about the company they used to funnel funds through. Singapore are far less corrupt and will make sure the criminals are met with swift justice

Had a call from these guys today. I asked "how's the weather in Hyderabad", and he hung up.

It always shocks me that people with such bad English can actually scam someone...

Alert from visa, calls the number and he answers "BT Broadband"... seems legit..

The argument given you that posting this video might provide a tutorial to scammers shows a complete lack of understanding about security and fraud prevention. The fact of the matter is that any potential scammers already know how to scam you. It's an extremely competitive industry, and the are no real secrets, only ignorant victims. It's the scammers who don't want their methods shown.

Ah memories! The title caught my eye. I was one of the very first people to use VISA in India, about 4 decades ago - with the bank of Hyderabad. At the time I was travelling round the country and running a bit low on cash, saw an advert for this *new* VISA and thought I'd use my Barclaycard (from London) to get some cash. I went into the big branch in what was then the city of Madras. They had no paperwork or process yet in place for this new-fangled credit card, they'd never done it before. But the manager invited me into his office, rang the Head Office in Hyderabad, got instructions over the phone and wrote out by hand. I got my rupees and was on my way. How things have changed now! That's what "progress" means..

My house is constantly getting a fake call about a warrant for my arrest. It's hilarous.

What always amazes me is the number of seemingly random tech terms they manage to put into one single sentence. Must sound very impressive to people who are not tech-savvy themselves and who don't realize it's really just drivel.

Definitely makes m4e suspicious that Transfer Wise is at least 'aware' their site is being used fraudulently....and if one were particularly suspicious one might think they are complicit in those activities. Cheers Jim from Canada North and keep up the splendid work.

I'm disappointed by TransferWise's reaction. I use them monthly and I've friends in Estonia working there. I will be sending this video to my friends. That response was unacceptable.

Last night at a restaurant An elderly lady friend in our group told that she had received what of course was a scam call. I told her to watch your pod casts. She has and is an informed person now and won't be scammed. Again thank you. I'm so glad she talked to me before she fell for the scam.

I’d say the amount of awareness your videos create far outweighs the likelihood of potential scammers using them as tutorials.

"I'll do one thing" is a common Indian English expression. Hardly any other nationality uses that.

I’m from Singapore. Scary to know we have companies affiliated to these scammers and shit. Now I know why there have been so many more cases of scamming nowadays over here

Thanks for the video. They say this will not reach the victims, and that is only partially right. We who watch this share the knowledge about scammers to family and friends, tech savvy or not. Thanks to you I now know about what not to do, and after talking about it to my aunt, she was able to avoid a scam after remembering the info I told here. So not all victims will not watch this videos, but people related to them probably will. They already know how to scam, it's the victims who don't know.

Security by obfuscation isn't, these scammers already share info with each other, and these videos help those of us with some savvy learn and share with others how to ward off these scams. Transferwise probably just didn't want their association with these scams publicised. Please continue to make these videos.

Hey Jim, These videos might not reach potential victims, but as I find computers interesting I spread the word with information you give me to prevent actual potential victims by informing them about how these scammers act. I seriously do think these videos help. If one is determined to scam, they will find a way regardless. Let it be your content or one of the other thousands of sources. Keep it up!

I wholeheartedly agree with you by showing the entire video you're giving everybody a peek behind the curtain and know that when somebody is trying to run that scam you can shut it down, keep up the good work!!!!

I disagree with the opinion that information should not be disclosed to prevent bad people from seeing it. It is the same old thing with that its not the knowledge that is bad but a misuse of it, like nukes vs nuclear power. I believe it is a must to rise awareness because they *use* our ignorance and lack of knowledge. No, these videos have to happen in my opinion.

People get scammed due to not being educated about such things. Remember the weakest link in the security chain is the person. So by raising awareness you are helping to strengthen this chain. So please keep up the good work.

Hello Jim. I really appreciate what you are doing. I am from India and I came to know about these scammers when one of my close relative was scammed. I would like to tell you that there are not just a handful of scammers in this country. Every year about half a million engineers graduate in this country. These so called technically educated engineers are completely unemployable, and lack any practical or field experience, thus ending up jobless. These jobless engineers in the name of " start up " calling themselves so called " entrepreneurs" create fraud companies scamming innocent people, especially in US. They target US and other English speaking countries because first due to our education system we end up quite fluent in the English language and second because even if these scammers end up scamming one person a week they end up getting $100 which in India is about 7000 rupees (at the time of this comment) which is quite decent 1week salary in our country. The government authority also take very little intrest in cases from other countries when there are 1000s of cases of scammers everyday within our country itself. Even then I deeply appreciate the work you and many other RU-vidrs like you are doing. I would like people to share these videos to as many people as possible especially older people who are the prime target of these scammers. At last, you are doing a great job. Keep making videos like these.👍
