This ‘Falcon’ core cutter from Perkin features the latest in our through air generation of chucks along with a servo loader to handle any length of parent core with the range of the loader specification. Servo controlled cutting knives will make rapid progress through heavy walled cores of up to 18mm. A number of key features make this a very desirable model in our core cutter range of machines:
- The through air chuck does away with a spinning centre shaft which runs though the centre of the loaded parent core, this allows for very small ID cores to be handled down to 12mm or ½”.
- The stripper system which removes the waste piece from the chuck at the end of the cycle is simplified and adjustable. This means the tooling cost is both lower and quicker to change over when switch diameters. The strip process time is also greatly reduced improving overall cycle times.
- In this configuration the knives may be free to rotate, or they may be fixed (indexed) so the cut is made in a similar way to a lathe parting off tool. In this case the cut end gets a polished finish. The cutting knives are lubricated to assist with the cut and keep the knives sharp.
- With a servo controlled loading fin, the cores may be pushed forward into the machine at a controlled speed with force limitation so as not to damage light walled cores which could buckle under excessive linear loading. The loading is optimised to reduce cycle times.
