Hi! I’m new to your channel, and I’m really enjoying it!! You are so talented, I can only hope to be at your level one day :). Thank you for all of the knowledge you are sharing! :)
I would not put bleach on the pumpkin to clean them off for the little creatures outside that are looking for food to fatten up for the winter. I have squirrels that come by every year to eat my pumpkins. I also would advise against painting the pumpkins with paint as well for the same reasons. The natural colors of pumpkins are beautiful! Embrace them! :)
The pumpkins also once painted can't be composted due to the paint + microplastic flecks that will come off. I think it's better to purchase fake ones and re-use them every year.
I'm a single father and I don't have a woman and I definitely need advice and tips like these to get my house in good shape. Definitely subscribing. Love your style.
I love how it came together and looks so cozy, such simple ideas that make your space instantly light up, wow! Just a suggestion in general for people though, regular paint is not environmentally friendly and is actually pretty hazardous for the environment. If you're going to paint pumpkins, maybe try to find a non-toxic/environmentally friendly version of paint, especially since once the pumpkins are done being used/Halloween has passed, people usually throw their pumpkins in regular compost/household waste/garbage. However, these pumpkins with this type of paint on them wouldn't be able to be thrown into regular compost/garbage.
I just bought a bunch of stuff and decorated my front porch last night! I got all different colored pumpkins and gourds, a lantern, and little hay bales, it's so cute. So excited for this video for more inspo!
My dad used gloss paint on pumpkins for a display at his flower shop years ago and because it seals in the gases it eventually exploded. Please make sure those pumpkins are able to release gases as it decays.
Kristen, you did such a beautiful job. I love how you used the same paint color as the front door. I decorated some pumpkins with ribbons and blue and white decor to match my front door.
That turned out so cute but whose gonna turn those candles on & off each day & night lol. I really am thinking about adding some painted pumpkins❤️❤️❤️
Haha I have some of those little candles and they have a timer option, so whenever you turn them to that switch the first time, they'll stay on for 6 hours and then shut off. And moving forward they do that automatically each day. It works pretty well!
I''m going to add the battery power lights to my porch. Love the magic it adds :) My favourite season is fall because of the orange, red, and yellow from the trees so I used orange, yellow tones for my front porch.
Looks fallish!! Luv it I'm so happy that you were using a muted palette, so many people are getting tired of the strong orange black and white Halloween theme. This just speaks of cafe mochas and long chats and a welcome door :-)
Soleil Carmelo surely they do not, especially if it is done for decor purposes. However, we cannot simply tell a squirrel ‘don’t eat my pumpkin’ and expect it to comply. Most people will have the welfare of wildlife in mind even if they are classed as ‘vermin’ in their eyes. I personally wouldn’t like the idea of a squirrel falling sick of potentially passing because of a mistake I could’ve easily avoided.
You're absolutely correct. I only watched five minutes of this video before I researched this. Bleach is very harmful to animals, including deer. I have seen several articles recently saying to throw your pumpkins in the woods for the animals when you're finished with them. I know squirrels eat pumpkins, and this angers some people, but do we really want to cause them to suffer and possibly die? Not me!
I love the idea of matching the pumpkins to the front door! Are those candles on a time? They look great, but that would be a pain to turn on/ off everyday.
Awesome! I just got some inspiration to do my porch. I have some of those lights and was thinking of wrapping the flower pots with them but never thought to put it on flowers!!! Thank you! :)
You can actually use vinegar and water as opposed to bleach. Animals tend to nibble on the pumpkins and vinegar won't kill them as bleach will. Just a thought if you don't end up painting those pumpkins.
Using that door paint really elevated this look, brilliant idea! I love your colors, not sure I’d want to have to turn all those lights on and off every day tho. I think a lantern or two would be really pretty mixed into this look. Great job with everything!
I really.love this its diffrent and actully looks good its a well a grown up look for fall🎃🍁🌻 its rair i like the front step fall video there all the same blah white pumpinks blk wht. Bufflo pld. We do yellow, rust, and burgyie, mums in pots & in front fl8wer beds near the steps i usally have a country fall style.
I’m excited to see how you tie this blue in with Christmas Decour because I have to tie in blue and orange with Christmas Decour somehow because that is the colors on my front porch
A white vinegar solution is better for washing pumpkins you plan to keep outside because lots of critters snack on them and the bleach solution can be toxic.
I’ve been wondering what color to paint my front door! Love this color. I was going to paint it black but this Arizona heat will fade the black so this color will be perfect. Thank you Kristen for all the pumpkin tips❤️
