The cosy flannel colourway is beautiful. I live in Spain and I'm so jealous of all the amazing yarns dyers in the States.

That bougainvillea color way is definitely tempting me-it's gorgeous! I'm planning on making a Lento this Fall for my niece and one for myself.

Currently I have been loving all the vests! I just finished the Edgar Slipover and right now I have the Summer Slipover on the needles. Living in TX it is often too warm for a full on sweater.

Good morning Leslie, Listened to your yarn musings this morning while I started the home stretch for my daughter in law's sweater. I casted on for the sleeves which I'm using magic loop hoping it will be perfect when I'm done. Liked all your fall choices but the sweater I have in common with your episode 2-day is the cumulus sweater, which I have purchased a pink and cream with burgandy speckles yarn to knit it with. Our color choices are similar for many of my yarns!. I don't knit any patterns with dropped shoulders. I have narrow shoulders and the sweaters I've knitted with dropped shoulders I gave away because I look like a sack of potatoes in that style. SO I always select sweater patterns with either raglan/top down or set-in sleeves. I have a few autumn colored sock yarns but for sweaters I always go for the cooler color-ways as I think they are more flattering to me. My next sweater is going to stretch my brain a bit which is a good thing. It is Zwieg by Caitlin Hunter. I follow The Knitty Stew on RU-vid and when she finished this sweater and modeled it, I was blown away by how much I liked it. It's one of those patterns that the second you look at it you go 'I have to have this!!!' So i'm knitting it with 2 fingering yarns for the body, medium gray and one yarn has cashmere and yak which will feature a soft halo in the finished sweater. (Forr the 1st time, I dyed this yarn myself because I couldn't find a suitable knit along yarn and I didn't want to use mohair as I hate how it feels, it turned out beautiful!!) The yoke is lace-style so I'm going to do 3 different multi pink fingering blending colorways that will give it the gradient look with some visual interest with the pops of color. I want to wear it this winter but it's fingering weight yarn and we'll see haw quickly I can knit it. I am not a speedy knitter because I will make mistakes if I try to go too fast. Anyhow loved your episode 2-day, and your little doggie at the end was a really sweet touch!!! I have 2 border collie boys that are so much company and constantly amuse me with all their tricks and humor. They like to lay on my feet while I knit and sometimes it gets to be a bit much. Our furry friends are the best!!!!! Look forward to your next episode. Carrie from the N. Calif San Francisco Bay Area 😘❤🐑🐶🍵🧵🪡🧶

Loved seeing all your fall ideas! I have knit the Lento and I love it. And I have plans (and yarns) to make more. 😉 So the Heirloom cardigan. My lys where I work is currently having a class on that. My friend is teaching it. And she has ended up switching out her yarns several times because in that pattern you're knitting colorwork flat, and she really didn't enjoy doing that with a superwash yarn. She found it just too slippery. So she's suggesting a non-superwash for that. I love your alpaca yarn! One thing about 100% alpaca, it doesn't have memory or bounce the way wool does. So it tends to just grow and grow. Be careful you don't end up with a tunic! Haha! 😁 Looking forward to seeing your ideas come to life!

That's awesome that there is a class on the Heirloom Cardigan! I would love to take a class like that! Good to know about the superwash vs non-superwash for that! I'll have to see how I feel when I swatch or knit up the first square. And also good to know about the alpaca! I'll have to make sure to not knit that sweater too long up front! :)

I have a secret project that I’ll be test knitting for, but right now I’m just working on finishing my sorrel for Rhinebeck. I have 2 vanilla sock patterns going and my first Oslo hat. I plan on making a weekender sweater at some point but probably not for a while, maybe I’ll make another cardigan instead. Also that moonstone colorway is just *chefs kiss*

I think my only plan so far is Zipper Sweater Light and a Stripe Hype. Who knows if I'll actually get through them though lol. But I did want to offer Musselburgh as an option for a hat. It's my fave travel project.

My fall knitting is a bit limited this year because I am working on a couple of test knits, but I definitely want to make a Stick Season as well, maybe in a teal? Otherwise, I would like to make a doodle cowl, the infinity one.

Lovely to hear your plans, Leslie. I am currently inspired by The Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible, applying pattern 100 from that to my standard vanilla sock pattern so I’vm having fun with that. Also knitting a Musselburgh for myself in a Malabrigo sock, inspired by your previous hat knitting. I’ve thought about the Oslo but Yorkshire is COLD in the winter, so the entire hat in double layers as per the Musselburgh seems a good choice. And also I’ll be casting on a Lanark for my husband, inspired by a cone of lovely soft navy blue yarn that contains possum! It will be my first attempt at knitting him a jumper so am excited to get on to that. Hi to the pup (so cute!) and Happy Fall knitting xx

I'm knitting the Turtle Dove Cardigan (just came out in the latest issue of Laine). I never buy magazines but I was intrigued to knit it and it looks very "fall-like". Also, I had the yarn (not in a gauge I usually knit with but I had ripped back another sweater) so I didn't have to buy. It's very quick and enjoyable. Curious to know, how many hand knitted sweaters do you have in your closet? I've just started ripping out everything I've knitted that I don't wear and I keep meaning to remember to count the things remaining! I've been knitting for 12yrs and it's an understatement to say that I have an adequate number. But I love sweaters. It's a dilemma...
@knitcalifornia
@knitcalifornia 10 месяцев назад
Love this question! I currently have 8 that I would say are “in rotation” and 4 or 5 that I don’t wear for various reasons. I’m considering frogging at least one of them to remake and considering re-homing the others at some point! I only have 2 and a bit years of knitting under my belt, but I can see how quickly my collection will grow year after year! Especially looking at all the SQs I have in my stash… lol!

OH Honey I think you should be finishing some of your WIPS. Wouldn’t you feel much better knowing you’ve finished one or two projects. However I am a monagamous knitter
@knitcalifornia
@knitcalifornia 10 месяцев назад
Hi there, I recommend you go watch my previous two episodes, as I've finished three projects in the last two weeks, and I have another project that I'm finishing up this week! I'm also a mostly monogamous knitter and as I've been talking about a lot lately in my videos, I'm trying to work on projects that spark joy and inspiration and provide me a serotonin boost. Not all of my current WIPs do that! I feel much better working on projects that make me happy.
