I put a lot of effort and time into making these videos, I would appreciate if you leave a Like and a Comment. Thank you so much! 😉 See also other Massive Battles: 👉🏻 ru-vid.com/group/PLWCqtiurTeFoc8VZxq6B1zRHD66s4hD2H If there is any battle, historical or fictitious, that you want to see recreated in Age of Empires, let me know in the comments.
Hello bro sorry for the late reply I had to study now iam free I just saw your video. Its great you know when you started it I was so impressed by your work now I don't know what to say but I would love to play this bro. Again there is always room for more improvement you know it better then. Love you bro and can you do a live stream when you play rome dlc in age of empires 2 definitive edition. I saw you have many buildings which I don't know you where exactly did you get them I want them too
I waited years for someone to create this type of content. AOE is not 100% accurate, but for me it was the entry to a fascination with history. AOE always had the tools to create something like this, it just needed someone with passion to do it, all for the love to learn history. Easiest suscribe ever! Keep the incredible work and thank you so much for this.
I greatly appreciate the comment, it makes me happy to see how the work and affection that I try to show in the videos is valued. The same thing happens to me, the Age of Empires saga was an opportunity to "play history" that I love and I greatly enjoyed the campaigns and historical battles. This is something I should have started doing years ago but hey, it's never too late. Thank you very much VaXn and I hope you continue to enjoy my videos.
What a masterpiece. Can you imagine how cool playing out this battle would have been as part of the Aztec Campaign?! As always, you do a great job of conveying the nuance and ebb & flow of these incredible historical events.
Thank you very much Robby! The Aztec campaign scenario was not bad for the time Conquerors was published, but with the following versions and dlcs they have been adding things that greatly enrich the creation of scenarios.
@@lorddervish212quinterosara6 I would have to make a lot of changes starting with the triggers and also removing units. Keep in mind that I make formations in-game, not in the editor. One option would be to leave the map without units or triggers and put a couple of villagers, a town center and a bunch of resources for each side, just like Deathmatch mode.
The game changes the history, for example, in the campaign, the aztec end beating Hernán Cortez. The last mision is abaut the moment represented in this video, but of course we dont loose and Tenochtitlan prevails.
I love what you did here, this is very well done. The narrator struggles with the Nahuatl names but that's not really surprising as it's a text-to-speech, 11 I can see you've actually read the primary sources and even included some of the traps the defenders used. The fall of Tenochtitlan (which actually occured after the dismantling of the Aztec Empire) teaches us a valuable lesson: cannons and horses are scary, but decentralization is scarier. The governing system of Tenochtitlan was too hands-off... too unstable.
Very sad indeed...heartbreaking. As a kid, for the longest time I had an old demo of the Conqueror's Expansion, and all I could play was the Aztecs... fell in love with the civ in the process, and for a large part of my childhood believed that the Aztecs survived like depicted in the original campaign.
@@dhruvsharma6826 The Aztec people didn't deserve everything happened to them; but it's important to remember their civilization was *extremely* violent and cruel to their neighbours. An unfathomable number of innocents were murdered by the Aztecs in their Flower Wars and mass-sacrificing. The empire itself absolutely deserved to fall.
In my opinion, Tenochtitlan's fall was more glorious than the fall of Granada. The Aztecs fought to the very last, and defended the great city with all their strength.
Cortez wanted the city to be the crown jewel of the spanish monarchy's new empire. The Aztecs denied him that privilege and in the long term this battle was a pyrrhic victory for Cortez as he would be betrayed, disowned by the king and die a bitter poor man.
@@rashedrashachowdhury4321 'poor' Cortez... Destroying the new world, enslaving the natives, stealing all the natural resources etc.. but its poor Cortez am i right?
@@rashedrashachowdhury4321 Nah he got what he deserved. Cortez was a cruel arrogant man who learned the hard way his monarchy would toss him like nothing no matter what he did.
It was amazing to see how you were able to recreate this in Aoe 2! I see a lot of research behind it, you definitely do some a good content of history (in a great game). Greetings from Peru
While the story of the fall of Tenochtitlan might seem a tragic one, we must always remember the reason it fell was that nearly all the tribes around it banded together to bring it down, which is telling of the cruelty they were being subjected to, even if they didn't know they were making a pact with the devil by allying themselves with the spanish.
@@ahmicqui9396 I'm sure the constant capturing of villagers and young daughters to be sacrificed in garland shows and sun rites had absolutely nothing to do with any of the events.
@@Kawabongahlive tbh, it is probably not exclusive to the mexica (as far as I am concerned), the fact is that the way the aztec empire was structured had too many liabilities that the spanish were able to take advantage of. The aztec conquest was through subjugation and not assimilation which led to this grief accumulated with the other city-states
@@Kawabongahlive lmao, they never captured villagers or "young daughters" Slave raids were literally illegal and sacrifices were either volunteers or captured elite soldiers. "Garland shows" you mean flower wars, the ritualized mock wars? Where both sides had to consent beforehand? The things you speak about are for some reason present in pop culture, but not even spanish colonial sources speak of anything like that. The worst thing the Aztecs did was the Tlacaelel's book burnings.
@@ax0r People think Mexica somehow imposed ritual sacrifices over other states, but it was literally the other way around. They migrated to the valley of Mexico and adopted all local customs, including sacrifices and 'flower wars'.
This is amazing, AOE2 was how i got invested in history while growing up, and seeing this level of production and quality makes me so happy, keep up the great work!
AoE2 is a great way to teach people history. It's a lot of fun, visually almost perfect (for me) and the campaigns are many and varied. Thank you for your comment and I hope you continue to enjoy my videos.
This is amazing! And beautifully plotted out. You put a lot of thought into the narrative of the history, and in "stroy-boarding" it using the AoE2 game. As a fan of both history and AoE, I love it!
It must be worth seeing the monument and imagining what happened, in the place where it actually happened. It is not usual to be able to remember a battle in the place where it occurred.
@@historyforgamers Ah you are from spain so Hernan Cortez is probably as personal to you as Arminius is to me as a german. The acutuall battle is believed to be happend at Kalkriese 100 km away from Detmold on the north end of teutoburg forrest. They found a famous centurio mask there I have seen it in person. Sometimes I pitty americans for only having a few centuries of history instead of millenia like in the old world.
Poor Cuauhtémoc, one ruler I feel as bad as Cleopatra the Seventh. One ruler that could make a curved difference in their people, but came into power too little too late.
It cannot be stated enough that basically all of Mexico allied itself with the Spanish to get rid of the Aztecs. Spain would have never been able to take control of the area if the Aztec had not been such ruthless and bloodthirsty rulers of the area for so many decades beforehand.
dude, this video is great, this idea is great, and this helps me and I think to other people aswell ALOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus how glad Iam that I found your channel.
Muchas gracias Carlos.
This is amazing as always, could you someday do an episode explaining how the Spanish took over Mesoamerica since Cortez arrived in the continent up to the aftermath of the fall of Tenochtitlan?
Grandisimo trabajo!!!! Deus Vult
@@historyforgamers I think you succeeded on this very well, I also like your choice of units to represent both armies, i.e. the Condottiero for Spanish Rodeleros, Coustilliers for Spanish cavalry, and mixing in Slingers for the Aztec army. Thanks for creating this!
Yes, it took me quite a while to make the video. The voice is generated from text, my English is not good enough to do it myself... Thank you very much Uniique!
I always thought aztecs resisted and put up a fight. Now that I watch this vid, it turns out the Spanish out played them and were far superior not only in technology, but also in strategy. The Spanish were always one step ahead.
¡ GENIAL AMIGO LO HAS HECHO!
Greetings from Mexico
"Broken spears lie in the roads; we have torn our hair in our grief. The houses are roofless now, and their walls are red with blood..." So says Cuauhtemoc, Emperor of Tenochtitlan.
They were dumbfounded by Tenochtitlan. Literally. They saw it as a masterpiece. That didn't prevent them from destroying it... It's something I will never understand.
Your skipping the part where Cortez was out dealing with a Spanish attack against him cause he left for Mexico on his own with out permission and one of his subordinates pissed off the Aztecs they were not longer looking to take captives
Yes, it is true that I have not represented that part, but I had to choose and synthesize as much as possible because otherwise the video would have lasted twice as long.
Have you found that Age of Empires is the best for creating these historical scenarios? It’s been a while but I vaguely remember that Rise of Nations had some pretty sweet scenario making tools and their faction unique units could spice up the visuals. Not sure how difficult it would be to control armies compared to AoE though.
Yes, Rise of Nations has a good editor but I think the one for AoE2 is much more complete and easy to use. In addition, AoE2 continues to receive new content with the Dlcs and that means that it can have new units, buildings, etc., with which to make scenarios.
@@historyforgamers the Third Battle of tiocajad, was a battle between the incas force of Rumiñahui against Sebastian de Benalcazar and finish with the defear of the incas when a near volcan make an eruption (sorry for my english, my mother languaje is the spanish)
@@historyforgamers and the battle of yahuarcocha was a battle between the incas against the caranquis, the incas kill all the caranquis and, the leyends said for that, a near lake turns red (yahuar = blood, cocha = lake)
@@historyforgamers Can you make "The Battle of Actium" next? I'm a big BIG Greek and Roman fan for years now, and this new DLC is like a strike to the heart!
Imo it'd be better if you voiced these yourself instead of using a bot, since it does weird stuff like pronouncing Cuauhtémoc differently half the time
No anon, in reality there was not much difference in the number of troops. In any case, in my scenario there are about 1,500 on the Hernán Cortés side and 2,000 on the Cuathémoc side.
Not really, Hernán Cortez's army united with another cultures made his army big. And the population of Tenochtitlan was dramaticlly drop because desease, "la viruela". A lot of aztec people died sick.
