Nothing wrong with a break, it usually gets me inspired with new ideas. Tidy your sewing room and take a breather. I'll be watching for your sewjo return.
Karon, the wool is beautiful and I love that blue lining. That MimiG jacket and the McCall's are both classics. Please wait to sew until you are excited. If not, you may feel frustrated. All your plans are gorgeous. I have M7944 and your inspiration photo is to die for. You always have classic excellent taste.
Your words provide encouragement to be patient and take the time to refresh. The classic styles appeal to me, and I take the advice of many others like yourself who watch and support my work. Thanks Grace!
You have a deep stash full of lovely, inspiring fabrics and buttons ❤❤. That golden herringbone with the golden lining is going to be a stunning and a beautiful contrast with the darker toned garments you’ve got lined up. Navy jacket, jean jacket, too. They will all serve you well. Sometimes when there are too many choices, indecision can set it, so take it slow and know that you’ll get started when you’re ready. Looking forward to more Karon videos! 😊 Suzanne
Suzanne, just reading your perspective on the golden jacket and the contrast it will bring to my darker garments got me excited. I truly appreciate the feedback and support I am given. It's always interesting as we all perceive this no sew period differently. I am anxious to begin sewing again, and I believe it will be over soon. Thank you for watching.
I have sewing fatigue too. It happens and to get me out of it, I tidy up my room and stash and then pick something super simple to stitch. Typically that would be a simple t-shirt or top. I put everything I need for that project in one place and do not touch or look at anything else until it’s done. Some times a 2 hour project like that will take me a couple of weeks, but it usually gets me back into the flow. I suffer from overthinking and feelings of overwhelm with my sewing plans so, dare I say it…. I often let my stash of patterns and fabrics go. Declutterring that area of my life really helps! If I don’t love it, it goes. To date I haven’t regretted or missed anything. It is our hobby and should be joyful. Hope you feel better about it all soon xx
Hello Ruth. Your perspective on the sewing fatigue is so relatable and fits me perfectly! I am so excited that this has worked for you. I definitely will try cleaning up and try applying your method of focusing on that specific small project. I will refrain from getting into other things, and I hope it helps. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your experience. I truly value your time.
Hello Karon, With some time you’ll get to feeling like sewing again! Maybe just dig into your stash and you’ll get some inspiration to start thinking about sewing again. We all have times when it’s just good to rest and take a break from it all Have a great week, and take care. We know you are such a wonderful sewist, you’re wonderful with your fabric and pattern match ups. Such gorgeous makes you do! Nancy, from northern IN
Nancy, I appreciate your encouraging remarks. Yes, there will be more of these types of days. I'm catching up on some patterns and letting my creative mind relax. Thanks for watching.
Hi Karon! That mood happens to us all! Hang in there! I’m also struggling and haven’t sewed for a few weeks. I wasn’t happy with my last 2 makes so that brings me down and I lose confidence in myself. This will pass and I know we’ll both be sewing again soon. Have a nice week!
Lori, I know the feeling and understand the challenges. I am in a hard place and hope to get out soon. It is important to sew as it keeps my mind clear and allows me a healthy space to mentally thrive. I hope we resume sewing soon.
Hi Karon! I hope the mood improves soon. I really enjoy your channel and seeing how much you enjoy sewing. But we all go through different things and sometimes our interests and our needs change. Give yourself permission to find out what you are being called to at this point. As much as we love sewing, there might be a deeper need, or a deeper calling that sewing cannot fulfill. God bless you and give you peace!
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I understand it happens, and I am trying to occupy my time with other things. Hopefully, a vacation will change this.
Karon, I love the fabrics you've chosen. I hope that you'll look at the fabric buying freeze as an opportunity to revel in what you already have. Because those pieces are really gorgeous. Can't wait to see how they turn out!
@kaygee8343 Hi Kay, I am happy you like them. Yes, I am trying to use the time to refocus and get projects outside of sewing completed, but it's difficult not to purchase fabric or sew. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts 🙂
I made the Vogue dress you made with the loops for buttonholes and you put a piece of patterned brocade for the mid riff. It was challenging and the vlog you did was very helpful.
Those are great projects - your gold button collection? There is no use sewing when you aren't feeling it. You've sewn a lot for your vacation. You might feel more inspired for fall after your vacation.
Kathy, I am okay with your perspective on the situation. I think I will call it the gold button collection. Let's see how things are after I return. I hope to capture lovely content in garments made. Thanks for watching 🙂
It happens…..just go with the flow until you get the urge to sew again. Like you’ve stated…at some point we all need to clean out the stash first. Maybe gift some of your fabric to the sewing community (as I’ve seen other sewist do).
Nice plans. I’m making the Ellis skirt by Cashmerette. This is the first time putting in a front fly. I did it! Also, I have made a Jean jacket. It has many pieces, but it’s not that difficult. I really enjoyed making it. I hope you do too. ❤
That's awesome. I am sure you will enjoy that beautiful jacket made with patience and effort. This will give you the best feeling wearing those pieces. Thanks for sharing 😀
A break would be good for you - it would revitalise you! Take some walks in the lovely autumn countryside. May I just ask Karon, what is the lovely blouse pattern you are wearing please? XxHelen
