Cargo pants are a lifesaver. There are no better options especially when traveling and you can shove all your precious belongings into the pockets. I personally also love the distraction they create around thighs; ”it’s not the thigh that’s wide, it’s the pocket” You can style them like any other wideleg pant
I have a petite figure but a flat butt. I like the way my cargo pants look, as the back flap pockets seem to give me a better shape! It's harder to find trousers that have back pockets. Also, mine are cuffed, no elastic, so when worn with a flat shoe or sneakers, they don't look frumpy.
Those enormous jackets are probably my most hated trend, ever. They’re so unflattering and mannish. I don’t mind a relaxed fit, but I hate anything that big, including those ridiculous big knits.
OMG, cargo pants are amazing! I got back into them last fall & have a couple pairs, now. (BONUS: they're really forgiving, on those days when you feel bloated or are on your moon cycle, & could use some extra comfort.) I find the key is to style them as "not athletically" as possible. A cropped, round-necked cardigan (either buttoned up fully or w/ a cami underneath), a cropped wrap sweater, or fitted lightweight knit top (long or 3/4 sleeve) & heeled ankle booties are good choices. Also, I personally prefer the ones that are gathered @ the ankle- it plays really well w/ the boots.
I agree, Anna, on every one of these! I remember in the 2000s when high-rise pants just weren’t available for love or money, mid-rise was the highest, and all were skinny, too. That’s when I stopped wearing jeans, I hated those. I just hope high-rise pants/jeans will still be available this time around.
Really, it does depend on whether you are long or short wasted. I am petite, 5'1", 114 lbs., but I have a large bust and I am very short wasted. When jeans or pants are too high on me, they practically touch my bra. Mid-rise are perfect. I even purchased ones from Anthropologie that said they were low-rise but they came up to my belly button!
@@trishac9516 I've got the opposite problem...sort of! Long waisted, but short. Chunky and busty. Midrise jeans were often not high enough. Low-rise didn't even cover my pubic bone. When style precludes fabrication of different rises, different body shapes can be just out of luck!
I agree on the tennis skirts!! So cute .... on someone under 25. 😂 I would 100% feel like I'm trying too hard wearing that at age 34 with 4 kids in tow.
I much prefer the ones you wear instead of the trends! Classics are here forever, trends come and go, but it is fun to have fun with it. Agree with you, these trends are definitely not for me either.💕
CARGO PANTS: I agree trousers are more sophisticated and look put together in any outfit. Cargos give the relaxed look. If you work in a semi-formal environment, summer cargos (of thin, breathable materials) or jeans with slightly larger pockets add a dash sophistication. You don’t have to go full baggy hiking. I wear mine with a boot or a small heel, turtleneck, a viskose tanktop with small feminine design, or anything light and feminine to elevate the look. It’s tricky at times and you need to be in the right mindset to feel comfortable in that look. I experimented with it, it works, but i have to have the „attitude „ that day. Big silver accessories are also part of the combo to elevate the whole look
I hear you on not doing low-rise anything. Low-rise jeans were THE thing when I was in middle school in the early and mid-2000s, and they never looked good on me! I was constantly having to pull them up before I sat down and then after I sat down. The rise of high-rise pants, jeans, and shorts in the 2010s was the best thing to happen in fashion in basically my entire life in my opinion. 😂 They look good on everyone!! High-rise jeans 'til I die! No matter how out of fashion they ever get, you won't be the only one who wears them because I will be right there with you! 😆
Low rise jeans made almost everybody look atrocious! A world of extreme muffin tops, especially with crop tops... ugh. I am long waisted with short legs so spent years trolling the thrift shop bins. So glad we are no longer trapped with those monsters!
Longer skirts for me forever. I never went the way of miniskirts, not even knee-length. It has to be inches below the knee for my comfort zone, and nowadays with the midi and maxi skirts I have an abundance of choices. It's wonderful!
Cargo pants: I wear the Wit and Wisdom Ab-Solution Stretch Cotton Pants from Nordstrom ($78) that are similar to cargo pants. I got them last January in 3 colors and love them! I wear them with my Doc Martens or a minimal lug-sole loafers, t-shirt tucked in, and a lightweight sweater or denim jacket. I get lots of compliments!
I really like wearing cargo pants. I go the casual route - either sandals or sneakers, slim fitting t-shirt (preferably something cuter than usual) or a plain sleeveless black top. Tennis skirts are great as well, you just need to find the right length for you. I've got two that hit me just above the knees and wear them with plain, slim fitting tops. It does make you look a bit younger but not in a bad "I'm trying too hard" way.
I LOVE cargo pants, it's the fit you haven't found! Mine have 2% elastin and they hang some from my hips, I have it rolled up a little some days, they are basically Chino pants that mimic cargo..I am liking it!
I’m in the high rise forever club too! The only “trend” you don’t do, that I kinda do is the oversized sweater. I don’t think I wear as drastic of a size up as your pictures, but …I live in Michigan. We get COLD weather! I really don’t like “coats” because they are so structured! Not really great for layering. I can wear any amount of layers under my oversized grandpa sweaters! Or not many layers and add a scarf-that’s easily removed if I’m hot in a store or something ❤️. I’m glad your arm is doing better!
Cargo pants with heels 😍 - Totally YES for me. That'show I wear them. With a cute t-shirt or even a blouse or button down, tack in or tied in the front. I think you absolutely can pull it off 🤩
My mom gave me some hand me down cargos last year and I made them work. They were low rise bootcut grey camo style. I usually don’t like low rise either. I wore a fitted black turtleneck sweater and some leather Chelsea boots. I also added some jewelry, black little bag and wore a cream trench coat. I wore this to an arcade date. I tried to dress elegantly for the rest of the outfit. I don’t see the Chelsea boot working with my other cargo pants though since they’re more jogger style at the bottom
I just turned 55 last month & I've always worn cargo pant/joggers. My fav are the Banana Republic tencel joggers! Aerie makes nice ones too & I can get them both in petite. I've also been wearing tennis skorts all summer (more Columbia, than pleated tennis). My fav trend has always been baggy & slouchy (Meg Ryan). Take the current trends & adapt them in a more "mature" way!!😘
Oversized chunky knits only work on ppl with very petite frame but are also on the taller side. The contrast between the chunky top and the narrow, lengthy bottom is quite flattering if done right.
This week I have been in search of the perfect blue Jean for my body. Gap makes a sky high rise. Since I am 5’2” it gives me the appearance of longer leg and they won’t be riding down my hip like the mid-rise
Glad to hear you're healing up💗 I've never tried the overly distressed clothing. I think if I wanted to I would just thrift an item and take out all my frustration on it😆 I have tried on the oversized blazers and I didn't care how it looked on me personally. Never say never. I've come around on some trends. I did recently get a pair of white linen cargo pants. I have a white button up linen top I wear it with. I like it because I can put my hammer in it, lol! You always get me in a better mood Sunday mornings. Thank you!!!
I will be so glad to see the purposely ripped jeans go away forever, since I have mended my clothes all my long life. And low rise is terrible, with all those bellies hanging out. Ew. So glad high rise is back!
I'm with you on them all. Instead of the tennis skirt I found a just below the knee pleated pleather skirt. Fun and much easier to wear and more versatile. I can wear it with a t-shirt or something dressy.
i agree with you on the pleaded skirt BUT i still have one and I know others wont think it looks bad, it's just in my head. I tell myself it'll be FUN.
The over-oversized look is so hard to pull off. I think it can sometimes work on the Ariana Grande types because their general tininess is such a prominent feature that the contrast is interesting, otherwise it’s probably better just go one or two sides up if you want the roominess. As for the tennis skirts, I think they’re a lot like skater skirts so I’ll wear them similarly. I’m going to look for a gray wool one for this fall/winter!
I agree with you, no cargo, no super oversized blazers (they hide your figure), no mini skirts or mini dresses (childish look). When you get older you want to look gorgeous as an adult woman with a healthy mind…There are enough modern options, but just be honest with yourself in the mirror. Of course people could say that you can wear anything as long as you feel comfortable in it, but it can reveal that you have a mind problem with your age, and that’s not sexy or makes you look pretty 😍
you can style a tennis skirt with a long blazer jacket or cardigan and thick tights with a buttoned up shirt/t-shirt or a high neck blouse 🤷🏻♀️ just some ideas ☺️
A N N A R E I D I just want you to do the news too!! 'Cause you can make the worst thing happening sound like we're all gonna be OK and we sure need more of that!! AND your style is to die for!!! Thanks for sharing!! Love your content. And you ARE TECH SAVVY MA'AM!! ❤️
I agree I’ll be sticking with my high rise denim and slacks. I do like the cargo pants tho… I style them with a fitted crop top and trainers or platform trainers …accessories and makeup can dress them up enough so you don’t look frumpy or have to wear heels ✨
Tennis skirts and cargo pants are at the very least next door to classics, aren't they? Low rise just isnt for me. I dont feel like it. Maybe slightly lower, but mostly, I think Ill stay with high rise.
With the cargo pants, pair it with a tight tank top and elevate with jewelry and an updo. It can be done... but it depends on the individual. Same with low-rise baggy. Although, I feel like high-waisted baggy jeans are more in right now. If you haven't tried those, I would give them a go with a semi-fitted top, fully tucked. I rock this with platforms and some simple statement jewelry, and I get tons of compliments.
I never got into the cargo pants until last fall season and now I absolutely love them! Depending on the designer, I typically will wear them with white sneakers, a sandal, or doc martins. I pair them with a slim tank, my favorite a simple white cropped tank top, or a plain v-neck t-shirt. If they are joggers, then I'll wear a heel but typically... no, not for me. Then I accessorize with a silk scarf or multi-chain necklace, etc... Wanted to be a fan of the oversized blazer but it just looks ridiculous on me. I'm petite and have more of an hourglass shape so these just hang on me and I look frumpy, same with the large oversized knits. Micro skirts have never made their way into my closet and I don't think ever will. Love your channel! Thanks for all your candid, and funny, videos.
I LOVE you and your videos ! My favorite thing is your taste basically aligns with mine. I’m much older so some body parts you can show are parts I should keep covered. So, I am going thru and watching previous videos and you have inspired me to lose some weight so I can wear what I love - better!
So you could easily do cargo pants with a dressier top. Like a little sequin Cami or a certain type of bodysuit. Also, they do make beautiful comfort heels.
I've seen cargo joggers that look like they could be cute. I'm old enough to remember these 90's trends coming back and I don't want to recreate any just yet!
I love cargo pants- they look good on my hourglass figure as they add dimension to my lower half that helps balance my upper half. Tennis skirts, oversized anything on top? A hard no for me. I like well fitting blazers & jackets & tennis skirts are too short for me. I will stick to knee length & maxi length. I do still love my distressed jeans! Nothing else distressed however!
@@marissashantez6051 I don't have the legs for them. But, I do appreciate them on other's & I like longer- say midi length or pencil skirts. Just no tennis skirts.😀
Low rise works so much better for those of us who are rectangular shaped. My hip to waist ratio is just not meant for anything that emphasizes the waist. I wear low rise with a nice silk shirt, or a well fitted, longer t-shirt.
I actually just ordered some cargo pants and laughed when I pulled them out!🤣. Then I put them on with a fitted black top and some low cut boots and really liked them! Definitely leaving the look for casual days. The tie sweater?? Reminds me of grade school or my Grandma! Glad your arm is better!
I agree with everything you said in terms of what I’d personally avoid. I suspect the gargantuan oversize items are supposed to make the wearer look like a waif by comparison. But totally doesn’t work for me. (or, quite frankly, a lot of folks I see embracing it…)
cargo pants- style with camisoles, cropped at waist knits front tucked or body suit..super cute with a boot or fun running ( stylish) shoe . Satin or faux leather cargos are super fun . 😊.
I really appreciate that you look at both sides of fashion - ones that work for you and ones that really don't. I like to keep an open mind but there are just some things that I think look "cartoonish".
I just adore ur channel. U make me laugh every time I watch. I laugh and get my fashion fix. I just have this vision of you being the life of any party. Thanks again u never disappoint!! ❤
I'm one of those. Low rise just looks better on my long torso. But long and baggy... not so sure. Takes me back to my raver days. I don't think I could pull if off now, unless I thinned out my tummy.
Preach girl! 41 over here and I will NEVAH let go of my high rise jeans. Been there done that with the low rise, baggy, distressed denim and cargos when they originally came out. I’m good! 😂
I love dark cargo pants with a white tank and layered gold necklaces, like delicate chains. I’ll pair them with white sneakers now. This fall, I’ll throw on a blazer and boots to wear with the cargos. I agree with you about no micro minis. Yuck!
Cargo pants are all about fit. My sister has a black silky material cargo pants that are fitted to her body so not baggy/frumpy at all. She wears them with heels and either a fancy button down shirt or a simple white tank.
I bought a pair of high rise, loose (wide leg) cargo pants and I style them with a basic plain tank top and flat sandal. I think In winter I’ll do a fitted turtleneck and a little bootie 🥰
I have long legs and a short torso and I’m very thin so low rise anything suits my body perfectly and can look really elegant in a low rise trouser so I suppose it depends on your body type, so sorry Anna can’t agree on this one but definitely agree on everything else.
Just discovered and enjoy your channel. I like that you have a fast-paced approached. Agree with you on cargo pants, don't think I could pull this off. I'm 68.
I will most likely buy the phat pants due to pure nostalgia, and wear them like I did in the 90s. Because I really want the 90s back. Edit: so agree on the over- distressed and extremely oversized anything.
I am going to wear A lot of Cargo Pants! this fall. I want to style them "street style and make it look cool" lol Im a dog walker and I just wore my first cargo pants yesterday and my mind was blown ! I love the pockets it useful for dog walkers. l also, I don't want to look boring and like a reagular dog walker. I made it monochromatic- wore my blush pink cargos with a oversized baby pink button down shirt and added an oversized baby pink vest on top, and cute pink sneakers. I used my beige tote bag and I wore beige heart shape sunglasses. I think the look was so cute and different for a dog walker. I used the cargo pants pockets for easy access to poop bags and treats! it was great :)
