After looking at the way Jenny laid them out, i noticed that if you look at the two sides with the strips as the number "7" and the letter "L", she started with the block with the strips on the top and the right side of the charm looks like a number "7"- then the next charm square had the strips on the left and bottom of the charm looks like a letter "L". So you could see that it would be laid out as follows: 7 L 7 L 7 L 7 L etc and the next row would start with an "L"
Thank you to the person that posted the L7 layout. I am fairly new to quilting and was losing my mind trying to figure out the layout,! Now I can’t wait to get started on this quilt!
Hello, Charleen here, I am from down in south Louisiana. I just finished a falling charm baby quilt. In place of one of the charms I used a photos of the baby I am giving the quilt to as a gift. Thank you for the easy to understand tutorials.
Can't wait to try this. I love your tutorials. My husband teases me whenever he hears the duck's quack, quack. Now he says "oh did you learn that from quack quack?" :) Thanks so much Jenny. I have learned soooo much from you as I was a beginner quilter.
Years ago I collected purple fabric and cut it up in 5' squares for a future quilt, and then carefully filed them away waiting until "someday" - When I saw this tutorial by Jenny I knew that "someday" had come! This was such a fun project that I kept making blocks and ended up with a really big quilt! Thanks again Jenny for a fabulous tutorial and for helping me bust my stash so I can purchase more!
I just made this as a Christmas present for my future mother in-law. This was the second quilt I've made ( first for my future sister in-law). I've never made a quilt before and your instructions are so easy to follow! I did take a picture of it before I started sewing so that I had the layout correct, but in the end it came out wonderful! My boyfriend really liked it and thinks his mom will love it! Thank you Jenny for your awesome tutorials for making quilts!!!!!
Hello this is Claudette from New Zealand. I have watched your tutorials over the years and just love all you do for us. this is sent in case you forget how important you are to all of us women that don't get out as often as we would like. Thanks
I fell in love with this quilt the minute I see it. I have 1 finished and working on another to fit my king size bed. Thank you for all you do for us!!
Oh Jenny! You are the Quilting Goddess! Sewing the blocks on the strips is brilliant! So much easier than cutting little strips and lining them up individually. Now I just have to find the time to make another quilt! :) Love your videos!
Love this and I think this will be perfect for The Very Hungry Caterpillar and a coordinating fabric used to make the 2.5" strips for a baby quilt!! Thank you!
I made this quilt. It was absolutely beautiful! Thank you Missouri Quilt Company for all the great patterns. Oh, and by the way, I have made several of the sailboat quilts as well using your template. Give them as baby gifts. Everyone has loved them!
Why is it that whenever I watch 1 of your videos you bring on me such an urge to sew? ThankyouJenny for making us so motivated. Bdw Love this quilt and you😍
Thank you Jenny tried quilting for years not even my sister who quilts could not teach me but I got hooked on Missouri Quilt and the lite bulb went on. Thank you again Bonnie
Made this using various pale blue fabrics, ( mainly flowers) from my stash. Called it Rhapsody in blue- size wise suitable for cot quilt. Then a fellow quilter and I recently hosted a fun day for our quilting group in Castle Douglas, Scotland and made 2 bed sized quilts to donate to a local womens refuge using same method. Really easy to do. Thank you.
Just made this as a harvenst themed pattern for very dear friends of mine. Mostly Pumpkin Orange and blacks. A bit on the scrappy side. Turned out beautifully. Thank you Jenny for this georgous pattern.
I LOVE making this one - Easy Easy! Did mine with purple batik Jelly Rolls and Stonehedge Charms it turned out Amazing! Oh I can see this with a Black backgorund, so many great combinations! As always, BEST tutorials to learn how to quilt and get them done :-) Thanks
Really love the fabrics on the wall quilt. The light colors against the creamy white background make it seem so sweet, cool and refreshing to me...right up my alley taste wise. Thanks!
What a wonderful quilt project for a beginner quilter. I am more of an intermediate quilter and I am going to make this when I need something in a jiffy. Thank you again Jenny for helping us all!! Piece and blessings, Vicki
Thanks for always being so easy going! It's wonderful to learn from someone who isn't soo worried about every tiny detail and being perfect! Everything you do turns out beautifully and I love to watch your tutorials! Thank you!!
Yesterday I bought some fat quarters and wondered which pattern would work best. Well, today you showed me just the pattern. Thank you so much for your great videos and tutorials Jenny. You teach me so many great things.
If it's easier, when making this quilt, think of those 2.5" borders that are sewn around the two sides of the charms as "7" and "L". So you stagger 7-L-7-L-7-L-7-L-7-L......make sense? And the next row is the exact opposite: L-7-L-7-L-7-L-7--L.
You are so awesome. Every tutorial you have is just a dream to watch and to help bring out things I didn't know I could do. Thank you so very, very much. At 70 I still cannot do complicated. I stick with simplicity and color. It works for me and those that receive my meager makings seem to love them. Mainly because they are not so fancy that they want to put them away and not use them.
Just In time. Im looking for a charm pack quilt! Way to extend a charm. And with some handy-dandy math, it can be adjusted for less than a layer cake! I have some adorable charms I’ve saved. And now! Happy sewing!
I am making about 7 or your quilts at the moment, I have finished and given away of 20 I love your tutorials, you are part of my family. (Quilts for everyone in my family, and friends) Thank you
I’ve made three of this quilt over the years. Finally doing another one for my second daughter. I like to square up my blocks, though, so it takes quite a bit longer to square all 120ish blocks. 😂 I LOVE this pattern, so simple, yet it looks fancy. Thank you!
You always do the cutest quilts. This is brilliant in its simplicity, and both quilts are gorgeous. That's when you know you have a god pattern....when it looks good in any fabric! Thanks so much!
I think that this would be a great quilt for a wedding gift.. recently someone said that those amazing quilts we put together with hours of our time, blood sweat and tears should be reserved for gifts to people we know will appreciate them, otherwise they may end up as dog blankets (nothing wrong with that, I love and spoil my dog) but seeing this may break your heart
hi jenny i just started quilting n u have been so helpful ... i ve watch them day and night ... u n your girls r awesome.. thank u guys.. have a bright day!!
I can't thank you Jenny and Missouri Star enough for all that you girls have taught me! I have come along way and It all started with you!...Absolutely the best tutorial's for quilting on the net. Be Safe and Blessings to you all! This falling charms is not only romantic but easy!..Great starter quilt project for the beginner!
I recently stayed at the MSQC Retreat Center and this quilt was hanging in one of the downstairs bathrooms. That one is a bright charm pack with a white background and it was so cute I had to look up the tutorial It doesn't disappoint! Another quick and easy pattern from the MSQC.
You make it all look so easy. I have looked at quilt and thought how in the heck did they do that. Love your tutorials, you can tell how much you enjoy making quilts.
Jenny, I absolutely love the" Falling Charms " quilt . I love the ease and the bueaty of it . I plan on making it in the near future. Thanks for all your wonderful tutorials, they're just great .
I really love the fabric choices and the beautiful result in this tutorial. Jenny, your instructions are once again so thorough and you explain in such an easygoing way that anyone watching can end up with a quilt as beautiful as yours. MSQC is definitely the go to site for any quilting questions!
I love your tutorials. I was looking for a charm quilt pattern to use for a baby quilt for my new granddaughter. I love this is both pastels and brights. I think I am going to try this pattern. Thanks for great tutorials!
For those that are unable to figure out the size, I come up with 94 inches wide and length can be 1 or 2 more rows. There are 12 blocks across and each block measures 6.5 inches (5-inch charm minus 1/2 inch for your seams) equals 78 inches, plus 2-inch sashing on 2 sides (2.5 inches minus 1/2 inch for seams); plus a 2-inch inner border in the same color as your block sashing (2.5 inches minus 1/2 inch for seams) equals 82 inches. Then 6-inch outer border (6.5 inches wide) equals 94 inches. Size 94 x 100.5 (12 blocks across and 13 rows down) backing needs are 8-7/8 yards with a 3 inch overage on all sides (needed for longarm quilting) based on 42-inch fabric. Size 94 x 107 (12 blocks across and 14 rows down) 9-1/2 yards based on 42-inch fabric. Outer border: 94 x 100.5 finished quilt size = 1-5/8 yards of 42-inch fabric cut 9 strips at 6.5 inches wide. Outer border: 94 x 107 finished quilt size = 1-5/6 yards of 42-inch fabric but 10 strips at 6.5 inches wide. I also recommend downloading for your phone or computer Robert Kaufman quilting calculator app. It is there at your fingertips to assist at all times. Hope this helps, happy quilting ladies. I just finished my Falling Charms 14 across and 15 down with no outside border for a king bed using various black, cream, and gold etched charms with black sashing. Quilted on my TinLizzie 18 and QBOT using Spring Flowers by Intelligent Quilting. It turned out fantastic and I love it.
@@talllala TinLizzie 18 is the brand name of my longarm, QBOT is the robotic equipment I have to automatically run the quilt machine. Thanks, I am glad it helped someone.
@@janicedietz7772 You're welcome. I have a very small house, so knowing how many strips to cut for the borders without having to move all the furniture to lay it all out was a great help (no I do not like quilt math) TinLizzie 18 sounds like a dream! Thanks for explaining.
I am a brand new quilter (just finished my first one). I’ve been watching all of your videos and I’m going to try this with just one charm pack because that will be a much more manageable size for me. Wish me luck!
This pattern was just perfect for left over charm packs and two white printed jelly rolls. Fast and easy and oh so pretty. I cheated and quilted it on my embroidery machine, if nine hours is cheating lol. Love the MSQ videos no matter how old or new.
My cat was watching this with me and purring like an engine within 30 seconds of the music starting! He doesn't do this for anyone else's tutorials - so you're obviously doing a good job! I really liked this as well - so many quilting projects, so little time! :-O Sarah PS: He is, of course, a cat of taste and discernment!
I am going to a quilting camp for teens at my 4-H center this week. This is the reference video that they sent us so we would get an idea of what we were going to be doing.
