Some friends and I doing the Pure Prairie League classic(s). From left: Tanner Walter, harmony vocals and rhythm guitar; Myles Pinder, Lead vocals and tambourine; Josh Turner, lead guitar and harmony vocals. Certainly not devoid of error, but here it all is anyway.

I will never forget sitting on the beach around a fire in about 77 with a bunch of friends when someone popped this into our cassette player, EVERYONE knew the words and harmonies, we sang it at the top of our lungs...pure joy

Miriam Green I love Vince Gill’s voice and talent. However, I have to say that ol “Sweet Pea” does not actually appear on this song, as he did not join the band until mid-1978. The original recording of “Amie” was completed either in 1970 or 1972, I believe.

5-5-2024, I'm 73 years old and always liked the Pure Prairie League's, Aimee each of the hundreds of times I have heard it. However, this version, by Tanner, Walker and Myles is the absolute, best version I've ever heard and the young man on the right with the guitar, picks with his soul. Top shelf gentlemen!

I just discovered Josh Turner. My heavens, so good and so natural. This cut has some really great harmony and lead vocals by Myles. There is some great young talent out there that is not interested in doing what Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and the like are doing - namely crappy and fake pop music. Young guys and girls like this bring hope to American Music and its fans. If they can do this consistently while performing live and recording, they have a very bright future.

We have played with big artists and I'm telling you it's a fact you guys are really awesome and the guy singing the main vocals dude you got a very original very original voice you need to capitalize on that and that's not cutting anything with the other guys. guitar player acoustic is hard to play Lead on, awesome awesome job and the other guy in the back up that's hard to do to all three of yaw are great don't ever give that and push and back your buddy, this guy's got a incredible voice and he's not even really trying that hard great harmonies to guys keep it up!!!

I never get tired of hearing Myles voice and phrasing (or Josh's guitar work & harmony with Tanner as this trio) on this song especially, and also on the short bridge in the middle of Suite Judy Blue Eyes ("Can I tell you like it is...Listen to me baby...") and then he goes up for "It's my heart that's a sufferin'..." with that killer soulish falsetto (or head voice? Lucky bastage either way!) So as a commenter below said, looks like he's getting (gotten?) married and I'm assuming that's why he's NOT in The Other Favorites? Good golly - the contrast and possibilities of Carson's commanding & pitch-perfect voice in the lower tessitura, Josh in the middle (and that boy can get up there, too! He face look cute, too, when he do!) and Myles expressively on top - imagine the possibilities! (Go for it, Myles, you can get married later! If your lady throws a fit & denies you the expression of your beautiful talent...then what have you got to lose?)

I looked Myles up to see if he was doing something with music (since I was hoping he was) and couldn't tell if he was or not. But it looks like he's getting married and is happy and someone with the talent he has for singing, with all the joy he's brought so many people, that's for sure an example of the universe getting it right.

I was from that time. My Sigma Chi brother at Hanover College, Steve, (aka "Dago") actually hitched a ride ( back when people could hitchhike rides!!!) with Craig Fuller (writer of the song and founder of Pure Prairie League) across southern Indiana to Cincinnati. Said that Craig was a totally genuine person. Craig and Eric Katz's voices were a bit softer on their recordings that Myles, and, as a result, I think a bit more effective...but, hey, each person has to deliver their own performance. Kudos.

Everyone thinks that Vince Gill is the original singer of this song but it’s not , it’s actually Craig Fuller. "Amie" is a song by the American country rock group Pure Prairie League. The song initially appeared on the band's 1972 album, Bustin' Out. It was subsequently released as a single in 1975, after it gained popularity as an album cut. The song was written by Craig Fuller and was originally recorded by the band on their 1972 album Bustin' Out, but was not released as a single until 1975, following a suggestion by critic and Patti Smith Group guitarist Lenny Kaye at an RCA release party, and after gaining popularity on college and commercial radio stations as an album cut. Its airplay led RCA Records to re-sign Pure Prairie League after having previously dropped them.
