Toying with our creative side awakens our ability to approach life with greater openness and curiosity. Nidhika Loomba explains how the classical Indian dance Kathak feeds her soul and ignites her passion. She explains what we can learn about life through creative expression, and gives a 4-minute demonstration of the elegant stances, rhythmic intensity, swift swirls and elaborate foot work of Kathak.
Nidhika is a business analytics graduate student at Bentley University. Before coming to United States, she helped build up a startup e-commerce company for 4+ years as its supply chain manager. Apart from her professional life, Nidhika is passionate about dancing and believes that movement is her best form of expression. She has been trained in the Indian classical dance form and has rendered more than 100 stage performances in various countries.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

Can't comment on her (kathak) dancing... But I can say that this fusion is really beautifully composed... Percussion, strings and vocals (padhant); apart from the dance this is also what Kathak is really about. The enjoyment that the audience and the dancer itself derives from the music composition.

The problem with todays dancers is that they talk much and dance less ... the dancing showed in this video doesnt show 9 years of training... chakkars are always taken on heel in kathak and not on toes and plus balancing part is an issue ... nothing against the dancer but when we represent kathak at the international level it should be a quality one!
