It’s not a political song but it definitely called out tactics that originated on one side of the political spectrum and became increasingly malicious between 2016 and 2020. Those same people make the algorithms for RU-vid. This is a generational cover that, if done by any other big artist, would have been featured on the radio, would’ve been talked about on television, etc. It’s because it’s Ronnie. It’s fucked up, to me, that dude can have four releases in a row that go to number one on the Billboards in a few categories yet I never hear him talked about. I go to Octane or some other shit and hear the same groups. I heard an interview with Stone Temple Pilots the other day where they discussed that they used recycled beats to beat a deadline for a new release and they threw it together in like 2 days. Song was trash, yet they talked to them as if they were musical geniuses. Miley Cyrus and fuckface Styles win an award for best song or something with “I can buy myself flowers”. Now I get its pop, and it’s a popularity contest. But I can name 20 better POP songs than that, and I can name several in other genres. It’s not even a matter of taste. It’s low effort, low quality, ghost written bullshit that gets pushed. Sorry, I’m done ranting now. I’ve watched Ronnie grow and in an interview in 2013 he specifically said that everyone is sounding the same. That’s around the time I got away from music due to that. He said no one would standout and become the next iconic group with the way things were going and shortly after that was when he began meshing the hip hop and rock scene. Wasn’t great, but it was a start. Now he’s made four certified bangers in a row, reimagined one of the early 2000’s most iconic songs in a way even Papa Roach acknowledged was more in line with the meaning, using inception and Hollywood quality videography to go along with a fucking insane musical quality, yet, nothing. Where is Rage Against the Machine when you need them?

I'm curious as to why. It is a song about losing what you have in life and literally contemplating why you're here. The original was great for the angry teens folks were at the time. Now those same people are close to or above 35...and things are not as angst, but no less hard.
