+Protectron Say what you will about the combat system in the first two games, but at least I don't have to worry about FPS elements in the later games. Fallout 4 greatly improved on 3's horrid combat, though (to be fair, id Soft was responsible for that).
I was talking about first two games. Turn combat system isn't bad if made properly (like in XCom) but in Fallout 1 & 2 it's made so poorly. Your result in fight fully depends on RNG and statistics.
+Protectron Did you miss the _"Say what you will about the combat system in the *first two games*..."_ bit? I know what you're talking about; I'm implying that they've still handle combat better than the later gamrs in the series. Plenty of turn-based CRPGs, especially in the 1990s, had a lot to do with statistics. RNG seems a bit of stretch, since Fallout 1 and 2 had more depth and strategy to them than just those two factors: 1. Positioning you and your party in order to sustain the least possible damage. 2. Aiming at certain body parts for chance to cripple or knockdown enemies. 3. Lastly, knowing which method of attacking is most effective by determine the distance of your targets. Fallout's turn-based combat system isn't as deep, complex, or even as refined as other games with a similar play style, but it did well enough for a game mainly encouraging non-combative role-playing.
Actually as a trait in 1 and 2 it doesnt do anything. It just makes death animations violent. In 3 and new vegas it actually increases your damage output in addition to gory animations. I cant remember what it did in 4.
@@dantenastasi2278 in fallout 3 and new Vegas it just makes every corpse explode into bits which isn't as good as fallout 2 where you have multiple brutal death variations
I mean hey it looks cool lol. Enclave and brotherhood armor in my opinion are just so boring compared to rugged metal plates put together into armor, or leather armor and jackets. Just feels so much cooler visually than some standard old gray armor
I like when games don't have HP bars. Sure they're convenient sometimes, but it detracts from the look of the game, in my opinion. I prefer the old school right click - see their condition.
and all modern games like Civ for example have icon overlays everwhere. Its strange, you have this beautifull graphics and than you put icons over the entire screen... Create good recognisable landscapes and units, so that icons are not necessary.
@@-Trauma. Just seeing enemies arms, heads, and half of their torso explode. Now that's brutal and memorable. Whats more interesting in the 90's is they have a really powerful sound effect on weapons, nowadays it's like a stress ball
This just remind me about fallout 1 ian, there is a small chance he can get his body cut in half juat by using his UZI, thing is, it can happen at random if im not mistaken
I know that it is a bit late but if you're using Scaling X2 on Fixt mod for Fallout 1 then i recommend you to change color to 16bit. Tearing stops but for some reason game works a bit slower. You will see what i mean. Also if you'll alt-tab to desktop or any other window and go back to game that tearing bug will come back even on 16bit. All you need then is to restart the game and it should be fine.
Last playthrough I did this quite early on and made it a bit onesided by first planting dynamite on metzger, the slavers guarding the door to his room and one other dude.
It's so weird that sometime my game wont display those death anomations. They just instantly fell and death with burned corpses. What the hell is wrong with my game
Fn fal was commonly used by robbers, you can find one in navarro on some guard near the kitchen, or you can buy it in San Fracisco at shop. It's a pretty common stuff nothing special about it.
@@usmohavespucci9659 I'm just saying, when you play in easy mode you can easily beat the slavers at level 5 with the guns you got in Klamath, but if you're playing in hard mode you have to wait until level 10 or 15 with regular but also expensive weapons that are selled in the Den
@@mado-wh4jv so you are saying that you don't disagree with people who play on wimpy and easy, but you hate playing without it well, just like the master's plans, you got deadly flaws.
