Show felt more like a parody of Fallout than an actual original entry. All the trappings of the series were in it, the color pallette, armor, suits, weapons etc. So good prop work, but it didn't feel like it added anything important. I don't think the writers knew anything about what inspired Fallout, they just made more Fallout out of Fallout.

Anton (the actor who played Maximus) has a totally different personality in interviews and did binge a lot of fallout game videos before he acted his first scene. The choice for Maximus to be who he was did not flow from the actor. So it either came from the script or the director. Anton has a personality in real life very much like Lucy's personality in the show.

The primary point people seem to complain about is a 3 to 5-year discrepancy in the timeline. Some of them really freaked out about it and most people don't care. I have no idea what they're talking about. It's possible that people are counting the years differently in different parts of the country. But frankly that seems unlikely.

The games are made by different people at different times for different audiences. Basic things like how many vaults there are and what they do are already inconsistent. This doesn't really matter because the meaning myself and others negotiate with the text is one where addressing these issues is a waste of time. Not killing each other today and having clean water tomorrow is what matters

The biggest difference with the game is the reasons for the nuclear war. its explicitly China as being the one who launched the nukes first as a last revenge effort in their failing war with the US. Though it can be argued that the US elite pushed China into this situation with the US invasion of China not fearing the consequences because of the vaults and secret bunkers littered throughout the US. the change is identical to the "Red Dawn" situation where the enemy was changed from china to north Korea so the studio could market it to China. likewise producers probably felt china would ban it if China was to blame for the nuclear holocaust.

Westworld had a good first season Better than good. It was amazing. Unfortunately it wasn't picked up and they never made any more seasons. There was some knockoff that was terrible and should be avoided. Seriously, so much lost wasted potential in the later seasons. Part of it was the had a well-written season 1 and then it succeeded and they didn't already have a well-written season 2. Part of it was leaning heavily into the two lead female characters with a big dollop of misandry. Part of it was leaving the park environment.

I've stated this on a few other people's reviews but I think that the show's quality inversely goes down the more Fallout Games you've played. The more you know of the game's lore and history the more increasingly frustrating decisions made in the show become, so you're much better off having less knowledge of the games if you want any chance of enjoying this show, and even then there's a lot of bad writing.

Brotherhood in the show looked like Russian army. Hazing cycles, long-robed priests spraying holy water on stuff and incompetents everywhere. Also, you recommended a show just because pictures look pretty? Because the plot is just a series of self-contradictory arbitrary events with sexual and/or violent gross-out moments sprinkled on top.

Best review of the show since the EFAP and Critical Drinker critiques. Good work as always although I have to admit the audio quality seemed a bit odd. A new microphone? Anyhow keep it up. Any idea what your plans are after Buffy?

My wife and I couldn't make it through the entire season. I personally liked the undead guy and Lucy's character, however, the focus on Maximus as a third main character was horribly weak. Maximus' motivations were so often minimally alluded to, and even more frequently seemed contrary to what you'd think anyone else might do in the same situation. They should have dove into his backstory more, or gave us some more scenes toward the beginning to help show his character and current motivations. Instead, we got a groveling and weak character who seldomly and spontaneously does something surprisingly mundane. The show would've been better without Maximus.

I also hated how quickly the show delved into using Three Stooges-esque physical comedy (mostly with Maximus in the power armor).

From people who have played the game, I gather he's one of the three main kinds of builds you can go with. They call it the "luck build" where you lean heavily into your luck stat.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've heard y'all mention that you're married right? I don't mean to each other, but you are each married aren't you? If that's so, do you ever watch any of this content with your spouses and if so.... how do they feel about your snooty attitudes? I think I'd like to see an episode where it's your wives or whatever talking about and reviewing the attitudes you put forth when they're trying to watch shit with you.

I'm assuming they aren't commenting while watching the show as they don't live near each other so wouldn't be watching it together. I know they take notes but there's no reason to assume either sits there and bashes the show whilst watching it. Besides the "snooty" attitude is their gimmick and tbh they were far less so in this review then normal

@@daviddiggens8841 Plus it doesn't matter if they're saying it during the show they watch with them. I mean it's definitely coming before and after. Marriages were people just stay shut off from their spouse and don't speak what's on their mind don't last long.

I suppose it would get annoying if they each are respectively saying why the show sucks to their wives during their viewing Edit: come to think on it though, is it not possible their wives join in on the "fun" and help them with the notes? There's no reason to assume they like what their husbands don't. People often marry like minded people
