I could personally never bring myself to make Codsworth anything other than a Mister Handy simply because it is something he is proud of, an important part of who he is. Don't get me wrong, I still upgraded him along those lines, but I never felt right turning him into a Robobrain or an Assaultron or anything like that. Honestly, I think my favorite upgrades for him are Factory Storage armor for the Torso, Voltaic armor on his arms, with his Thruster focused on improving movement speed, and replaced his flamethrower with a lightning gun. In this setup he feels the most like himself while still being upgraded enough to be useful (granted I usually have him mostly for the purposes of carrying junk - he is a butler after all).
I agree, however I feel as though Codsworth wouldn't mind upgrades as long as the parts being used are from general atomics. He might miss being a Mister Handy though, as that's what he was for 210 straight years.
I usually give him a Robobrain head and an armored Assaultron body so he can be as close to human as possible without going full synth. I know it makes no sense but I just like the idea that Codsworth has his personality due to having a human brain. But that's just me. I can totally understand why some people don't like changing him.
+Marin Gabriela i went with Robo Brain everything on codsworth and both hands have mini guns & the Robo Brain heand uses a confuse blast for humans or super mutants which can knock them on their asses, while getting up they are defenseless. He 1 hit kills everything plus the armor on Robo Brain is spiky. Looks like Wall-E on Steroids

as much as i wanted to turn him into a murderous sentry powerhouse, i just couldn't take away all the things that makes codsworth, well Codsworth!. so i gave him some upgraded arms and an armored thruster, and kept his mister handy front armor, i just don't have the heart to change him. i have no problem changing Ada though, hate that piece of junk, wish her self destruct worked

On his own he kills Supermutants really fast for me, considering I have the highest relationship with him and hes leveled up alot. You just gave me God's power
@@francescocasillas4965 Probably fixed this, I haven't played FO4 in like 2 or maybe 3 years... Funny thing is it won't play now for some reason. It was getting all buggy, so I took out ALL mods, and then the game would refuse to run at all for more than like 30 seconds... Probably have to reinstall it completely... I might do that, I kinda feel like sniping some raiders.

How do I get these options? I've completed Automatron, I've got him as my companion. But, all I can change is Special Mods, Right arm, Left arm, Thruster arm and Paint :/ What do I do?
give me your bundinha Well, I've seen that if you gave Codsworth a Bowler hat before the DLC came out, then it breaks it. Not sure if it's true. But there's a mod to fix this called "Codsworth Automatron Fix"
take off his buller hat next robot expert maxed science maxed a lot of resources like aluminium / steel / rubber some parts can be found on dead robots the legs / torso / head / arms
all i did to my butler was upgrade the armor and carrying capacity, then removed two eyes to ad arms and mounted standart laser guns there. the most reliable guns the NPC can hit with (and thus most reliable DPS) in my testing.
i wouldn't change any base-game robot companions (like cogsworth) like that, i would maybe upgrade his weapons and maybe a new lick of paint, but certainly not into a sentry. :P
I've completed the automatron dlc and it doesn't allow me to upgrade codsworth. All it allows me to do is upgrade Ada, or create a new automatron entirely. But none of my preexisting robot companions are available on the workbench menu
