Fallout 4 - Base building for beginners (new gameplay) 

I have a PS4, never played the other Fallouts and I'm really messing up. I guess After I learn the basics I'll have to start over. LOL

It IS true. I can share between different stations in one settlement (like, the same items will appear in workshop that will also appear in cooking and chem stations), but they only exist in that settlement. If I want to build turrets in a new settlement, then I have to bring the stuff with me, it doesn't just appear in every workshop storage "like Resident Evil" as the video said...

@frank grimes it is true. you need local leader 1 to start supply lines, they don't all just share they're resources by themselves.

Also, except for edibles (food, water, chems), only raw materials share. With a provisioner you can share cloth (for example) between settlements. But if you have a thousand teddy bears in Sanctuary you still can't build a bed in Hangman's Alley until they are broken down. It will automatically scrap items in the local workbench.

yes! i'm not new to gaming but I truly had no idea what i was doing or why when i came across workbenches. like why doesn't the game have a basic tutorial for this stuff????

That is plenty of time to at the very least go from a beginner to a novice or even better. Especially if you understand the system more than someone else. Plus, you don't have a clue how long this guy has actually had the game.

Indeed they do. Unfortunately they aren't movable an often are located in wrong places where they are obstacles for building.

SilentRageSlide I just enjoyed creating the settlements and building things. I guess It just depends on the kind of player you are if you'll enjoy that part of the game. I think that's why Bethesda made it completely optional

+Eurogamer no your good apparently you need the local leader perk and set up a caravan and itll work. Only thing you left out otherwise its only shared between things in the base. :D also love your videos.

+Frank Grimes from what i read on internet after alot of research. I guess you need a spare citizen to put up the trade and then its linked. Thats all it said so idk how it works exactly i haven't done it yet. Was recording majority of day ill get back to you if you like as i can set it up in a bit.

Und3rCov3rEagle it's much much bigger than sanctuary, if you free cam and travel to the other side of the settlement it won't be loaded. and i think the drive in is bigger as well.

Vault 88 is bigger than Sanctuary too.

It is the biggest & Abernathy Farm is the tallest (6 or 7 stories in some areas if i remember correctly)

Orbeland station is 8 stories I believe.

@@Anthony-eg7pw Nope. Your workbench can hold an infinite amount of items and isn't even limited to junk, as it's connected to all crafting workstations in your settlement.

You realize you can close it off with a structure you build right? Just because it gets removed doesn't ultimately mean you can't defend or it will be harder or anything. Just put something else in place, plus who wants to stare at an ugly completely broken down building when you could build something more appealing at that spot lmfao.

+river rat Not just spotlights. I built a house and put a lot of lights in it and some of them go out from time to time. Click on the light and it comes back on. If that doesn't work on the spotlight, store its wire then reattach it and it will come back on, but what a PITA.

Orcjura make your own house for storage purposes, make money, make supplies, just be creative, getting 600 purified water every other day to sell/use.

You get a player home... that should be all you need

+Dave Kane The autosnap really fucks everything up. I tried making a complex layout with foundation, but the stupid angle snap made it so I can't place any walls depending on how I placed a previous wall.

+Dave Kane Throw a temporary roof up and it'll snap through uneven ground underneath it. Then just remove the roof and walla. It eats up a few resources (you never get back as much as you put in) but it works. It was bugging me, too. lol.

+Dave Kane You need to search for *concrete* in the world. Under *structures > wood > floors* there is a construction named *shackfoundation*. You can use this to level out hills and place structures on. The shackfoundation can be highered or lowered, almost to house height even, so it is EXTREEMLY useful. Each *shackfoundation* requires 3 concrete and some wood. Ofcourse you will loose the soil to place herbs and vegies on... but it makes surrounding the whole of your settlement with a big wall much easier. Especialy the hill running down towards the river in *Sanctuary*!!!!!!!! Also avoid using shack walls to build your enclosure with. Only use this for shacks. You should use junk fences to make the outerwall for most of your settlement, unless you really have too. And if you do build with shackwalls... placing these walls (at 90 deg) is a trillion times easier when you use the foundation, because it snaps to the concrete *shackfoundation* grid! Another option I sometimes used is placing woodfloor tiles on the ground. It's cheaper, but it is not as neat as you'll end up with holes and such beneath them, as the ground beneath such a tile is not leveled out

Rpg burnout most likely then again after playing for maybe an hour of wandering around I got sort of bored from a fusion of the radio music and the landscape.

+lulubeloo You have to do lots of activities. Instead of clearing Sanctuary in an entire hour of grinding out that scrap button like on my first mistake character, I decided to do a house after each quest and I had a lot of fun

+Forexalised That's a good way to do it. I recommend doing quite a bit of questing before trying to build anything.
