In my head canon most of the commonwealth has been developed by the general and all of your settlements are what he builds. Realistic and lived in builds! So cool!
Thanks! That’s pretty much the theme and end goal of my playthrough, with the Minutemen uniting and rebuilding the Commonwealth settlement by settlement. Still got a way to go but slowly getting there 😁.
Once again, you have outdone yourself. There is something about your builds that feels so complex yet so simple, so clean and well-organized yet "crappy". Right now, I'm building at Oberland Station. It's the first blueprint that I downloaded from yours, and it also inspired me to start building. Before using your blueprint for Oberland Station, I didn't even know it was possible to make a settlement that good with only vanilla assets. I'll have a tour of it when I'm done.😉
Thank you! Shortly after I started posting videos I got a comment describing my builds as ‘scrappy but neat’ that I really liked, and is something I try to aim for with each of my settlements. I feel the settlers would try to make the best of what limited resources they have to build with. Sure it’s mostly made from scavenged junk, but they would still try to make the areas they live and work in as comfortable and organised as they could and hopefully not look like a complete scrapyard. Never knew you had started uploading tours of your builds, looking forward to seeing your take on Oberland and dropped a sub so I don’t miss it 👍😁
Really beautiful and well done. Surprised you didn't jump on the crumbling overpass but it's better off as cover anyway, especially since your builds are so down to earth and sane and thoughtful. I wish you were the default simsettlements builder because I would set this to build automatically and then put my own bizzaro outpost mancave treehouse thing on the overpass. Or perhaps I would just use the bus as a trailer and sprawl out what's needed across lower platform like a campsite, so as to not detract from what's below. Much love
Thank you! I was slightly tempted to build on the overpass but felt the large tower structure needed to get up there really would not suit the style of settlements I like to make. Plus there’s a ton of unscrapable junk up that’s hard to build around, and have my doubts the settlers wonky pathing AI would ever be able to get up and down from there! There is a mod that adds power lifts and I have intentionally left an area that could be converted into a platform for one to be added. I might possibly use that to build a player home / base on the overpass using it at some point (depending on if Starfield grabs too much of my attention), and then release it as a separate shorter vid and optional file for the blueprint 👍.
I'd love to see an updated Castle with everything you've learned since then. I love to see how people patch the walls and how they choose to set up the interior
Thanks! If I manage to complete my goal of building at each settlement at least once, then there are a couple of my earlier builds that I would like to revisit. Although I like the layout I came up with for The Castle it was the first fully decorated settlement I ever managed to complete, and suspect I would probably do things a little differently and hopefully be able to make a better job of it now.
I started watching your vids a while ago. I usually watch them all the way through because i love seeing how you put everythinf together. I play on a PS 4 so my mods are limited, but allow me to use alot more assets then vanilla. Since i started watching your builds though ive found myself using more of the vanilla pieces. Ive also found the way you do your layouts really helpful and have rebuilt several buildings and areas in my existing settlements. I've been playing Fallout 4 since 2016 and have yet to complete the main story, bacause I've alway wanted a fallout i could "rebuild" in, and that goes all the way back to fallout 1 when i played it in the 90s. Thank you for such great builds!
Awesome attention to detail, just love that Huge power armour and Robot workshop. I’m binge watching all your build videos, 😅many thanks for your time n effort!!
Just discovered your channel after playing the game again after many years(and watching the show again). Very pragmatic and creative use of space, and tasteful immersive use of mods. I commend you and will borrow some of your ideas in my more meager console xbox1 building. Thank you sir!
You are absolutely fantastic man, I've downloaded like 3 or 4 of your settlements already, I haven't done a minutemen (my favorite faction) playthrough since like my first playthrough bc I suck at settlement building, and your builds have fixed that problem so I get to be the general for the first time since like 2016
Incredible eye for design and decorating, You're a genius, a junk genius! maybe I play this game to much, that popped into my head while watching your vids(hint:Vault 81). I'd still watch your videos if you plan to make starfield builds, but not to sure i'll play that until much later.
Hi i have an idea, could you build companions house for each settlement? For example, Hancock in hangman alley or Strong in murkwater. That would be a great idea for your next settlement build video.
I keep coming back to your community page looking for your next build. Will you give us a poll or have you decided already? As always amazing build. I use your settlement tours to fall asleep to.
Thanks! Not picked out the next build location but will be running a poll when it’s time to decide (aleady have two locations in mind from suggestions). Been really enjoying my first playthrough of Starfield and feel there is still so much I want to see and do in the game, so it might be a while before I head back to Fallout 4.
Hey man you always do amazing work and I always look forward to new content! I've been thinking about something, in Sanctuary there are the npcs that hammer on the walls and use small blow torches or whatever on the house. I've seen you spawn in some weird items before, is there a way to spawn those work points so I can add some natural "workers" to a scrap yard? Besides using the scrap bench made super tiny lol 😅
Great to hear you have been enjoying the content, thank you! As far as I am aware there is no way to spawn those ‘hammer spots’, as they are markers rather than static objects and don’t show up in game.
I've never taken the time to build anything more than a few automated defenses at this location. Usually I leave the robots to robot around in their garden. Love that you use the barn or warehouse foundations to double as walls. I've tried that with varying degrees of success. If I may ask, which tricks do you use to distribute power among the buildings? My settlements tend to end up spider-webbed by electrical wiring.
Great to hear you liked it, thanks! Although I do like the look of power cables strung between structures, it can sometimes as you mentioned turn into a spider web. I usually like to run the wiring towards the back of structures so they are not as visible when in the settlement itself, and when possible having visible wires linking structures kept to a minimum. Find that way they help to add a little detail to the build when you can see theem without becoming an eyesore.
Awesome it look so cool I would love to have your save and get around all your settlements ❤ such a great work ! If I could had something I will be just some custom mods that give big wooden panel with the name of the settlement and stuff like traders welcome or fresh water ect otherwise perfection like always 🎉
Really glad you liked it, many thanks! Agree some custom signs would really finish off the build and add that extra little bit a character to the place, but guess I have only myself to blame for choosing not to use and object adding mods 😔🤣.
Thanks! You can see the power cables running between structures at a few points in build, although I generally run them along the back of, or on roofs of structures so they are partially hidden. I also used conduits to sink and run some power up the inside of one of the bridge supports.
You always want me to tear apart my settlement and burn them. I like how you seemed to build from the bottom up. I did from top down and it didn't flow well.
It’s very rare for me to get a settlement I am happy with on the first attempt. I’ll often get halfway through a build only to scrap it all and start again, using elements of what I felt worked previously and trying different approaches to areas I was not so happy with. So the urge to scrap everything happens to us all, and can sometimes work out to improve your builds - but keep a backup save in case they don’t! 😅
How did you unlock those guard posts? I have all DLC. Do I need to find a magazine or complete one of the DLCs? Anyway, fantastic build! I never really know what to build at Graygarden - it's such a strange settlement. Quite small, except for its highway access that's too high up for any staircase I made to make a lick of sense (before I had elevators) I appreciate your ability to make such amazing designs using just vanilla assets. Little things like the mats at the power armor station, I just wouldn't think of doing that.
Great to hear you are enjoying the builds, thank you! Those guard posts come with the Vault-Tec Workshop DLC, not 100% sure but I think you might need to complete the Vault 88 quest line to enable building vault objects at all settlements.
@@FiddleflapsVids no, thank you for making these! Very relaxing to watch and enjoyable! Thanks for the response, I'll level my character up and head to vault 88.
Thank you! My creative process is basically lots of trial and error, and just throw pieces together and see what happens… Sometimes this works out great but more often than not I’ll end up tearing down and rebuilding stuff multiple times until I get something I am happy with 😅.
Thanks, great to hear you liked it! No plans to add commentary to my videos, between lacking the right equipment and lack of mic skills I fear they would make the videos worst rather than improve them 😳😉.
Great to hear you enjoyed it, many thanks! Nordhagen is on my to-do list (and is also a location I rather like) and plan to include as an option in the next build location poll. 👍
Not sure what’s next, but have already done a build at Hangman’s Alley 😉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VjC3wcE6o2M.htmlsi=1NPDaDUqe45rKGcc
First I'd like to say, love your builds and that you show the process. I watch them alot and use alot of your ideas. Second, I noticed you use the railings often and wondered if you know about the rails in concrete. At the very end of concrete past the stairs, it's hard to see, but the very last rails in that category clip to everything. If you knew and just didnt like them, that's understandable, just wanted to let you know if you didnt know as they are hard to see. Cant wait to see what you have for us next 😊
Great to hear you have been enjoying the tours and building vids, thanks! I am aware of those concrete railings and used each of them at least once in this build 😉. Have to confess to not a being huge fan of the concrete pieces and so don’t find myself going into its tab so often forget that those railings are even there, and should try to make more use of them 🤣.
I’ve been building alongside you, building the best I can with limited tools on Xbox! You did an amazing job as usual fiddle, can’t wait to see where you go next! Cough Jamaica Plains cough
Thanks! Lovely to hear you have been building along with the series, and that you like the final build (have to admit I really pleased with how this one turned out 😁) . Although it’s one of my earlier builds that I would like to revisit at some point, I have already been to Jamaica Plain 😉 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MqfibOKMW9s.htmlsi=9goV6WzDij6zq0Ay
This has to be about my favourite of your builds so far! It has been wonderful watching from episode one as this settlement build evolved. And the final results have not disappointed! So much stuff crammed into the location. Yet at the same time it feels like there is plenty of space for everyone and no one feels like they are on top of or being crowded out by the neighbours. So many details... I am going to have to re-watch this video numerous times to try and see all of them. Incredible work! 💖
Really glad to hear you have enjoyed watching the build series and the finished tour, many thanks! Had been concerned that some of my recent builds have become a little more performance heavy than I would like, so held back on the decoration a bit but feel I managed to find the right balance with this one 😁.
@@FiddleflapsVids I'd say you got the balance pretty well perfect. As I suspected, that bar looks amazing now that it's decorated! And it's justbone element in a magnificent build!!
Thanks! Admittedly this is not a pure vanilla build as I do use Place Everywhere to get around the games building limitations and restrictions, and also use console commands to spawn some objects that you normally cannot build 😉👍.
Unfortunately I find decorating to be a very time consuming process, often involving a lot of trial and error and so like to take my time over to get looking right. As such I don’t make vids showing it, and I also like to keep something that people who have been following the build vids have not yet seen for the finished tours. I did however as a one off make a decorating video showing the process I use for my Starlight Drive in build which you might enjoy: _Fallout 4 - Building at Starlight 12 (Furnishing and Decorating)_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-miIUpEcttwQ.htmlsi=QVIXlTM1LQ--x9j_ Although it does not cover junk decoration, I did also show some furnishing of rooms during my Vault 88 build: _Building at Vault 88 - Part 5 (Shops & Clinic)_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UO4P3tHDLa8.htmlsi=qibkc_M8ZbcaGME1 _Vault 88 - Part 9 (Overseers Office)_ ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JLNfVtBoJ-I.htmlsi=pPQTIuGw1t6r6htg&t=1003
Just started a new playthrough, and am following along! Your builds are aesthetically exactly what I like, only so much better than I could ever do! Do you have plans to do all settlements? Would love to see the nuka world one!
Lovely! As an additional question, do you plan to show how you put together the settlements for hangman’s alley or the castle, for instance? Definitely get more from your build vids than from your summary vids :-)
Sorry, no plans to do building vids for the settlements that don’t have them. If I manage to get all the settlements done I would like to revisit some of those earlier builds at some point, as I feel I have improved and could probably do a better job of them now.
Makes sense, and all good! Your vids have helped me to understand how you build, so when looking at your tours it’s possible to understand the layout. It’ll still be some time before I deviate from your setup, though, and start adding my own flavour! Lol
Nice build! A unique start from the red bridge and a good flow. I also like choosing that particular NPC for the Doctor! She seems like she fits the post! Really great work!!!
I have watched all of you build tours thus far, and I must say that this is among the best builds you've made! you are really great at filling in those little nooks and crannies in all of your settlements! I was wondering if you plan on doing croup mannor, it is my fav settlement,! Also I think you should keep using the warhouse roll down door, it makes a settlement feel a lot more secure overall
I guess I should say redoing it, you have made a lot of progress in you style over the last two years, and i would toataly watch a series where you go back a spruce up older builds
Thanks! Glad you appreciate all the little details as they are very time consuming to place, and often can spend as much time decorating as I do building the settlements main structures. You could say I have a love hate relationship when it comes to decorating… love how its looks when it’s all done but hate having to do it! 😉🤣 If I ever manage my goal of building at each location then I certainly would like to revisit some of my earlier builds. Would be nice for each location to have a building series, and some of my earlier builds I was never completely happy with and feel I could probably do a better job of them now 👍.
I guess it’s a lesson learned from playing various city building games, but I always find you get better results trying to work with a landscape rather than trying to force a design on to and over it! Great to hear you liked it, many thanks!
Always impressed with the creativity of your builds, can't wait for your transfer settlement upload. I don't build my own, and only use yours in my game.
Always so nice to hear people are enjoying and using the blueprints, many thanks! Have got the blueprint exported and ready to go, just need to take some screenshots and setup the Nexus page. Hopefully should not take too long 😁.
Gosh your build videos always give me motivation to build in every settlement but sadly i have a PS5 and can't do it as smooth and seamless as you do on PC. Amazing videos as always 🙏🏽🔥
I am impressed that they are still being updated today; I noticed that there were no blueprints for County crossing and for the first time I realized that these blueprints are works that are still being produced today. Thank you for all of your wonderful work. We have already used over 10 blueprints. They are all wonderful and add color to the world.
I am still actively building and slowing working towards my goal of eventually building at every location. It’s always so nice to hear from people who are using and enjoying the blueprints and much appreciated 🙏😁.
I know I'm tardy to the party unlike when I used to comment on every video, but I wanted to pop in and say that you've done it again! Good job on creating a nice linear settlement!
Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! I use the _tdetect_ console command when doing the tours to help keep the settlers quiet, and great for preventing auto conversations any time you approach a settler assigned to the clinic.
Thanks! The cliffs were indeed a fun little challenge, there’s also quite a lot of space there to play with so imagine there are quite a few different ways they could be used.
Another masterpiece! This has to be one of my favorite from you so far. And thank you for including a night tour! It looks awesome. If I were a wastelander I'd definetely prefer living here than in Diamond City. Thanks for sharing! And... do you already know which settlement will go next?
Great to hear you enjoyed it, thanks! No idea where the next build will be, have not done a poll for a while so might be fun to run one when it’s time to decide 👍😀.
Glad you liked it, thanks! Not sure what’s next, unfortunately have tried a few times to build at the Mechanists Lair and each time have been unable to come up with something I was happy with 😔.
@@FiddleflapsVids I can never figure it out either. It's about the same size as hangmans, but even with mods I've never been satisfied with what I've built
What mods are you using to place anywhere and to have no build limit? I asked this question on one of your older videos, but I've forgot what you said, and the video the question was on
I use the weapon storage glitch to reset the build limit when needed, also works on consoles: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PLg0cFpVUH0.html I build using the Place Everywhere mod (its the only settlement mod I use) which is not available on consoles as it requires the script extender to work. I believe the closest alternative for PS would be QwaPA: mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4038979
The settlement as shown in the tour has 9 human settlers but could support up to 12. Due to the penalty for having robots in the settlement, the happiness rating kept jumping between 72 and 73.
Pretty sure this could be very closely replicated on Xbox using Place Anywhere, along with USO and a scrapping mod to add the objects I spawned in and also removed using console commands.
lol, sorry to say but now I am done with this place that’s exactly what I plan to spend the next few weeks playing... No plans to stop the settlement builds though, there just might not any new ones for a little while 😉🤣.
It’s certainly a possibility, although I have only played a couple of hours (mainly just to test how my PC runs it) I am not too sure how I feel about Starfield at the moment.. There every chance that the outpost system might not hook me in like building settlement has 😉👍
Maybe try installing Place *Everywhere* … Place Anywhere is for Xbox 😜🤣 Jokes aside are you running the game via ‘f4se_loader.exe’? The mod is a F4SE Plugin so it wont work if you start the game using the normal ‘fallout4.exe’. Also don’t use any of the optional INI files, just install the mod using Vortex and its ready to use.
@@FiddleflapsVids Okay I think I figured it out, ty, but is there any way to get it to stop floating through the floor? I want it to still kind of clip into place
@@strikeforcealpha9343 Sorry, but not quite sure what you are asking? I always build with Surface Snapping turned off (toggled using F2) and only enable it when I what to place objects onto a surface such as when placing furniture or workbenches. Not sure if that will help? Its also well worth reading through and playing with the mods various hotkeys.
@@FiddleflapsVidsAhhhh I will have a look tomorrow, you're being a GREAT help. Thank you! When I've done my version, I'll post it for you! I think surface snapping is turned off, because I can't just place stuff onto the floor, I have to place it over the floor and it drops down.
Your settlement building videos are always fun to watch, but I would like to see you build a factory using conveyor belts and manufacturing machinery, I think that would be quite fun to watch!
Thanks! Have to admit I have never really played around with the manufacturing DLC items, as they never seemed to have much use in game for my playstyle. Might be cool to play around with and something to bear in mind 👍
