Travel with me to Red Rocket for this no mods settlement tour!
This one was assembled over a long play though and it shows.
Features include a small covered farm.
A workshop and stores.
An open-plan player home.
A trading post.
Plus it's staffed by robots and serves as a mini robot supply hub.
I constructed this over many years. Originally with vanilla parts only and gradually adding DLC parts as the DLC's dropped.
This was my first attempt to build a play home in the game and I'm still very fond of it.
I really hope you enjoy taking a look around it with me.
Please leave me a comment or any questions, I read every single one.
Happy building everyone!!

A big thank you to everyone for making this my fastest growing video so far by a factor of 10X !! You guys are awesome. Bit of a longer video this time as it was really tough to edit this one down and still show everything. Really glad you guys liked it.

Looking back I wonder why this one took off so much more than some of the others? Don't get me wrong it deserves all the attention in the world, but I think your recent Oberland Station is fantastic too. I just wonder why one takes off and others don't when the quality is so good.

That is 1 thing I do like about fallout 4, Red Rocket, Slocum Joes, Nuka and Vim. Bethesda was good about giving interesting brands to use in game, and Red Rocket is 1 of my favorites.

@@dogharma4665 I think you can do it! Just keep building things up slowly. Think about it as a real world, what do the settlers need? Think about what would work in the local area. Would you be interested in making a Supply Lines video? For my part, less is more. A chain, mostly. But a few hubs are unavoidable. One of my main interests is provisioner routing, where they actually walk. To know who/what they will aggro, on the way. It’s an impossible task, to compile a comprehensive list, but there’s got to be some roads, and parts of roads, that are mainly used. For instance going north/south through downtown Boston or Cambridge. Some players want Provisioners to clear out content, and keep an area clean. Others, like myself, want them to have as little impact as possible. Some want story reasons. Others like constant flow of traffic. Consider sculpting a few diagrams. Thanks. (Ship Red Rocket looking good)
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
I was thinking about covering that in a video at some point. I'm also interested in the routes they take. I follow them on the route sometimes. They do some very odd things and take some strange paths. I do like to set up routes that make logical sense from an in-world RP perspective.

@@FalloutPBC i was watching a colossal build at Starlight. He couldn’t do everything he wanted, bc of the framerate. Thus , some interiors were sparse. That particular settlement was one of two major hubs. I asked him if he thought there’s a point where the number of provisioners impacts framerate of a settlement. He had never considered it. He thought it was all the turrets. Provisioners get rendered by the game when you’re there. Usually upon arrival and after sleeping. Can you set up as large a hub aa you want to, without impacting the framerate of a well developed settlement? Just some food for thought.
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
@@christophercollins3632 That's interesting I hadn't thought about that either. My biggest hub is my Graygarden build here on the channel. That was also the settlement I had most trouble with. It crashed often. I presumed it was just the size of the build. But my Starlight build seemed to be just as big, had a bigger population and rarely crashed. I never considered it could be the provisioners. I recently was forced to upgrade to XboxSE and the whole game runs tons better, no settlements crash at all. So sadly I can't go back and test the theory.

@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
Thanks. I used the concrete floors for the area around the fuel pumps. I used the solid ones where possible. For the areas where the fuel hoses reach the ground, I used the wire mesh version. If you look closely you can see the two different floors. I then covered the floors with the planters. In one or two places that had gaps, I used boxes and the scrapping stations to hide any ugly areas. The concrete floor set is by far the most forgiving when it comes to snapping. Sadly the BOS experience drops of after the story ends due to the lack of building content for them I thought the story lines for the Institue and the Railroad just didn't work for me at all. Seems one route took them through the Milton area with the hospital & parking garage. Suiciders is what I suspect did the damage. Another one doing a route between Greygarden & Sunshine Tidings would get chewed up by the behemoth. I also learned the hard way not to show up to help Graygarden when they're attacked. @FalloutPBC Год назад
Hi, thanks for the question. The gas pump area was done on Xb1 and no glitching was used. Everything was just snapped in as far as I can remember. It was done about six years ago long before I was recording for youtube. It was a real pain to do and took many hours. The concrete and metal floors are pretty forgiving. You can see in the video that I had to use the wire mesh floors to get around the hoses in some spots. That was the reason I used the planters and boxes! It was to cover up how rough and odd it looked. I was pleased with how it worked out but it was a nightmare to do.

Absolutely amazing! You really spent a lot of time on this and it shows. I can barely spend 4 hours on a build before getting bored! How did you find the dedication to build this over the course of years?
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
Thanks, I did put a huge number of hours into this over a number of years. Sometimes I see a picture in my head of how a settlement could look. Then I just have to try to see if it's possible to build it. It's like a splinter in my mind and I just have to get it out. It was like that with this one, the Gray Garden tower and the Starlight fort. I just had to find a way to make them work. Once I have the basic idea down the rest of it just grows organically over time. I try to only add things that make sense for the settlement. I like things that look like they would work and be a logical thing to add and fit the Fallout lore. The best advice I would give is don't try to build a big settlement. This one started as a metal shack. Just keep coming back and adding bits as you need them or add things that make sense. Before you know it you will have a cool settlement that will take on a life of its own!

@@FalloutPBC Our Red Rocket Builds are drastically different. I always figured, go big or go home. lol As far as Fallout 4 Lore goes, that is why I created my own Plotline and Home-made Movie(4 hours long) for this game. I got tired of having to explain to player's why my builds were always very extravagant. Sorry, I have to admit I was prodding you for an answer. I wanted to see if you actually check out other people's Channels before replying back to them. Yes, I do indeed have 40 short videos on Fallout 4 Builds, plus another 20+ on full-length tours. Perhaps check them out, and we an compare notes. I disagree. Once you start a build, you don't move on until it's complete. I remember how long it used to take me to get 1000's of unit of glass from Bunker Hill. And ALL my settlements required 2k-4k units of glass. It was usually a 4-6 hour process, not only to adventure (Ransacking the Pyrdwyn was always the quickest way) to gather equipment to sell, but to grab glass from Bunker Hill, rest for 48 hours and then get another 50 glass units. That took an incredible amount of time. When you start a build, you make sure you have plenty of materials if you're not using mods and you're on Vanilla. I built 10 settlements before I started to use mods in my builds. I wanted to push the Vanilla System as far as I could, before getting into the really GREAT-looking builds. You start out with a basic idea in your head of how you want the Base Build to look, what function it serves and then start laying down your foundation blocks. Building settlements came very easy to me, just like building my Public Land Art Projects. And yes I do get bored after 4 hours, which is why I usually smoke the entire 2 weeks I am concentrating on a build. I have builds ranging from 80 hours-400hours in length, but NOTHING less than that. Your videos are very helpful for beginners. Not much use to a building Veteran like me, but they're sometimes fun to watch. The, 'Place Anywhere' MOD, is a VERY bad mod to use if you like pushing your builds from 8-17 times the build limit. That particular mod eats up too much rendering power from your processor, meaning your builds can only be around half as big. Fallout 4 Guy on RU-vid specifically always used PLACE ANYWHERE, and NEVER used snap-ons. And it shows on his Channel. He is probably one of the only other builders that is on the same level of quality as myself. Too bad he doesn't post anymore, but his Channel is still up. As you showed, there are creative ways you CAN use snap-ons, by using the rug-glitch or the meter stick. There are plenty of ways to make an interesting build with only snap-on structures. I think I more than proved that in my builds. Anyways, it was nice chatting with you. I will keep an eye on your Channel from time to time. Cheers🍻

I'm a stickler for builds that have no CC, it's all about the challenge and how creative you can be, when viewing videos of settlement builds, I've played long enough to know when something is not base game and am quick to click off of the video when I see it in a build. Though there is one mod that I will use in my builds and that is "Place Everywhere" along with "Transfer Settlements" I don't really count these toward the actual build as they only serve me as the builder. I've already placed most all of the common wealth settlements that I built up on Nexus with no CC. PE is not required for the upload/download but TS is and that stands to reason. I myself will not download someone else's build if it has CC, I'm not interested in downloading CC that I'm not interested in and figure I'm not alone. This is one of the reasons I play on PC over console, there's so much more you can do with a PC in todays world that console just doesn't offer, now that PC's can be hooked up to media centers makes if ever better, I've already gotten rid of my desk, monitor and chair. Awesome Build! I enjoyed the show.
