Hi, everyone. Apologies for the delay in getting this next settlement build video up. Sadly work problems scuppered my upload plans. I'm really grateful for all the positive feedback and kind messages encouraging me to get more content up. I glad so many of you are enjoying it or finding it useful. Please consider commenting and let me know what you think of this settlement, or what you would like to see me cover in the future. I'd also love to hear from you guys about your own Starlight builds.

Looks very nice. "This is for roleplay", you mentioned that several times. I love it. I find myself constantly asking if what I'm doing is really necessary when decking out my bedroom, and my answer...to myself...is , "YES!" I really enjoy the relaxation of building, and planning for scenarios that will most likely never happen. It's a beautiful game. Nice video.

"Planning for scenarios that will most likely never happen" Yep. During my original 100 hour playthrough I built up Sanctuary with fences the entire way around... and it only ever got raided once by Radscorpians which spawned INSIDE the base. After that, I looked at where the spawn points were and just built a ton of turrets and defence stations near them. No need for walls or boundaries.
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
@@CurryFeatures I did exactly the same thing. See me Sanctuary video for how much effort I put into fencing that place off only to be baffled by raiders inside! Lol Once the spawn points became known I took notice but sometimes still like a wall for roleplay and ascetics.

I love function over form build style. This is simplistic but done incredibly well with just the right amount of asthetic flare to bring it to life and not just look thrown together. I just started playing FO4 about a month ago and building can seem overwhelming at first. But it really helps to see other builds for some ideas such as how you integrated the old screen into the build . I focused more on the projection/concession stand for my build. Thanks for posting

Thanks! I do tend to build at the screen end mostly. It's just such a fun structure to build around. Plus I think it makes sense lore-wise to build off the ground as much as possible. But I will say it was a real pain the build-up there. Just one of those things where I get a picture in my head and just have to persevere until I get it done. I have another build where I built up one side of the screen, over the top and down the other side. That was a real pain to get right too. My starlight build from a long dead playthrough was basically covering the crater with foundations and building up from there to have a decent medium-sized warehouse, with a bed or two and some workbenches. Well done! Don't apologize for making a realistic & spartan base without flashing lights & whistles every three steps. In my roleplay runs the best route forward for the Commonwealth seems to start with an organized military presence. Provisioners take on the role of first responders/deputies, meting out justice on the roads since the Vault Dweller can't be everywhere at once. Love the extra roleplay detail, providing uniforms & the like. Glad to see I'm not the only one who does that. I find myself scavenging coast guard & sea captain hats to give to the settlers at coastal settlements. I tend to bait in radscorpions & use them as defenses in sprawling settlements like this, Sanctuary, the Visitor's Center, or Longfellow's Cabin. Gotta love poisonous, teleporting shock troops. The downsides are they decrease overall happiness & if your generators are hit the Beta Wave Emitter might go down, leaving you with a mess on your hands. I used to use bears, but they would always find their way into the buildings. It is much easier to make choke points & elevated floors to restrict radscorpions.
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
Thanks, Johnny! I do love to fit in as much roleplay as I can to my playthroughs. This game offers so much if you have the imagination to build and roleplay. Glad to see I'm not the only one that collects outfits for my settlers. Nothing more frustrating than one settler having the wrong hat! lol
@Mr._Anderpson
@Mr._Anderpson Год назад
@@FalloutPBC The approach I took on a survival roleplay run was to designate Starlight Drive-In, Hangman's Alley, & Longfellow's Cabin as "training centers". All spare clothing, weapons, & armor went to these three locations & they were the only settlements with active beacons. Rather than carry equipment to every settlement, I could kit them out in the appropriate attire & then reassign them to another settlement. My head canon was they were already there at the settlement but I didn't become notified until they had completed "basic training", at which point they were outfitted & reassigned. I built lots of ultra-light armor mods so I could carry as much as possible & would strip those mods off to be stored in the workbench to be re-used later. All of my guards/provisioners wear marine armor purchased from The Nucleus with synth field helmets. It makes them look more bulky, impersonal, & intimidating.
@FalloutPBC
@FalloutPBC Год назад
@@Mr._Anderpson That sounds awesome! I do something very similar. For my MM playthrough I used the castle in the same way. All my weapons and armour were stored there in the armoury. I recruit from there and then deploy them wherever they are needed. I do settlement building very differently with the BOS but still use a similar system for the settlers. It just makes sense right! Plus it's lore friendly and thematic.

For me the Gama Guns have the biggest impact. Rinse / Repeat. Some of my settlements are so large now it takes a minute for them to load. I like Nuka World RR the best because of it's single spawn point it's less likely to crash & enemies fly all over in under a second (They usually get one taunt out) Like your sky base. Corey most of the building parts are available from the start. Some like the concrete walls are from DLC packs and are available right from purchase. Vault and robot parts are DLC and require you to do a quest to unlock. The artillery piece is available during the Minutemen quest line. Hope this helps!
