It would've been cool if, only one time in the entire game, you can randomly meet a vault dweller with a Vault 101 suit equipped and a dog behind him. You can ask him what he's doing and he says he just wandering alone. Then you never see him again.
Dude if he HAS a dog Behind him it Would be Dogmeat DUH but when The Sole Survivor [aka Nate or Nora] goes to the Red Rocket Station, He Meets Dogmeat, The First Companion you Could 'Meat' while the second one being Preston, if this was a Random Encounter, i would probably say You will Randomly encounter a Vault Dweller with a Vault 101 Jumpsuit WITH his Hunting Rifle and/or Butch in his Side, but This will Also Break the Deacon Theory [and i mean is Deacon the Lone Wanderer] And if he WAS ALive then Elder Maxson would already Assign YOU to Recruit The Lone Wanderer aka By Finding him [this happens if you joined the BOS] not only that The Railroad would Already Mention him Wandering around the Commonwealth and Possibly Give you a Quest to Find The Lone Wanderer... I would be completely fine with that. And they would all be... In the mid fucking west. I know that what is already there isn't 100% canon. but it could be fiddled with or even made to be canon. Plus it's a good middle zone.

The Lone Wanderer got involved in a scheme to smuggle Irish immigrants into the American Wasteland from across the Atlantic in order to ensure that there was enough stereotypical Drunken Irishmen with bad Lucky Charms accents to populate the next 10 Fallout games.
I think the Lone Wanderer is the type of guy who will never settle down. He probably has Flo on his left and Mary on his right, and Rosie on his chest, _as we speak_ in Fallout 4.
I have a theory of my own with evidence. I think Deacon actually IS the Lone Wanderer. Here are all my points of reason. 1: Deacon makes a joke about President Eden (whom almost NOBODY in the Commonwealth had ever heard of, outside the Brotherhood) 2: At one point in asking his thoughts, Deacon says "maybe we should come up with a team name. Code Violet? Death bunnies?" While playing the Replicated Man quest, Harkness' recall code is A3-21 Recall Code VIOLET. As you know, synth recall codes are EXTREMELY secret pieces of information, generally known only to members of the Institute. The fact that Deacon knows Harkness' recall code would be impossible if he had not physically met Dr. Zimmer in Rivet City at that time. 3: Deacon's humanity and honesty are always contested. The game is incredibly intent on making you wonder if his back story about his supposed synth wife was true and the Sole Survivor can choose to believe that he is lying. If you do, he will say "well, either way, thanks for putting up with me all this time". He talks about guilt surrounding unspecified bad decisions he made (evil Karmic decisions as the Wanderer?) and how he murdered the University Point Deathclaws after killing his wife. (There is no mention of any of that happening in any of the terminals at University Point, and the entire town was killed off by the Institute) This could actually be a heavily embellished version of another story, like how the Brotherhood murdered Sarah Lyons for whatever reason (implied though not proven). Or how the Enclave murdered James. After beating Broken Steel, Sarah Lyons may tell the Wanderer "If things weren't so crazy now, maybe we could be...friends.." hinting at a possible romantic future between the two which would never come to pass upon her death. 4: Deacon says "The Brotherhood. In the Capital Wasteland, they really weren't bad, but now..." This proves that Deacon had met with the Brotherhood in the Capital Wasteland. The Brotherhood would have treated him as hostile for being a Railroad agent, so there is very little reason that Deacon would openly deal with them unless he wasn't a Railroad agent at the time. 5: He keeps saying "Did I ever tell you about my time in the Capital Wasteland? Now there's a tale" Yet we never ONCE actually hear about it, though it would make an effective reference 6: Deacon says he hasn't partnered up "for a long time". 10 years is a long time. Also, he prefers being alone. LONE. LONE WANDERER. 7: He mentions Victoria Watts during one of his approval talks. She is an original member of the Railroad that the Lone Wanderer actually meets during the Replicated Man quest. She will tell the Wanderer that if they LIE to Zimmer (Deacon's specialty!), they will join the Railroad as a member in good standing. This would not only be Deacon's start in the Railroad, but a focal point of his inclination towards lying. 8: Deacon had multiple facial reconstruction surgeries. The Lone Wanderer had access to the same service during THE REPLICATED MAN quest after meeting Dr Horace Pinkerton. There are rumors that Deacon was a girl once, making both DEACON's AND THE WANDERER'S genders historically ambiguous. 9: Deacon, despite his surgeries, has the appearance and demeanor of someone in their late 20s-early 30s. The Lone Wanderer would be 29, which Deacon could pass for. Also, his knowledge of Shakespeare and Proust is the kind of education people usually get in Vaults. Deacon seems to be knowledgeable about anything the Lone Wanderer would know or have experienced. Honestly, I'm surprised nobody else has figured that out yet.
This actually makes ALOT of sense. It could be that after Sarah Lyons died/assassinated, the LW became disenfranchised with the BoS and left. Not sure if we will ever know what happened to him, but it is a good theory.
I think the lone wanderer is on the mothership zeta, protecting the earth from other alien ships. I really like this idea of him being the captain of an alien ship with Sally, Elliot and Toshiro as his crew. That would also explain the alien craft who crash in F4.
My thoughts exactly, if the LW decided too stay on the mothership it could explain how Sarah Lyons managed to die and how the aliens was were shot down in Fallout 4 & NV
Yeah. other alien crafts had crash in previous fallout games, but in the case of Fallout 4, we see the crash and there is smoke. He could had a motor problem, but i like more the theory of him being shot by the LW xD
Well for Macready the LW wasnt that big of an influence. Arthur Maxson, that's a different story. He probably split from the brotherhood when Maxson took over, disagreeing with him on returning to the west coast brotherhood ideals about locals and technology.
Peter Lane you would think he would talk about this guy that he met that walked into vault 87 and never came out if you think about you get kidnapped he never sees you leave
Yeah, MacCready couldve said something like "Hey, I remember meeting someone that came through Little Lamplight that was also wearing a Pip-Boy, I dont really remember much about them other than them entering the mutant-infested vault next to us and then they turned out to be a pretty big deal." Because no matter what karma path you chose in fallout 3, the lone wanderer was a big deal no matter what. Aand you have to go through little lamplight to enter vault 87 no matter what too, so it wouldve been realllly cool if bethesda did include a reference to the lone wanderer :/ sorry for my rant lol
Personally, I believe the Lone Wanderer, after all he's been through, would have likely settled down maybe, and stayed behind in the Capital Wasteland and aided Vault 101 in their recovery and survival in the wasteland, not to mention there are still people there he cares very much about, including Amata. Despite her saying that he can no longer come to the Vault, she did say maybe in time when things calm down and get settled, he may be able to return. So, perhaps after the events of Broken Steel and perhaps some years after, he decides to retire or just take a break from the Brotherhood and stuff to take care of what remains of his family and home. Also in regards to the Wasteland Survival Guide entries in the Commonwealth, I honestly don't think those are actually supposed to be the legit copies of the Capital Wasteland variants. For one, the original was all one book, all survival tips merely separated by chapters in the book. Whereas in the Commonwealth, I think some kid or teenager had the opportunity to read the book, and was influenced by it that he made his own spin-off of it, suited for the Commonwealth rather than the Capital wasteland, hence things like farming, hunting, and looking for Diamond City are things that wouldn't be suited for the urban environments of D.C. And there are very sparse populations in D.C. that actually utilize hunting/farming. Most people use the caravans and cities for their basic needs. (Albeit in the background, those cities and caravans are supplied by invisible farmers and hunters, blah blah) So yeah. I don't really understand where people come from when they see the Commonwealth version and think "Oh, it has the same title, must be the same book entirely!" That's just so obviously not the case.
Um hate to burst your bubble but you get a quest when you exit the vault in FO3 and you either release nuclear fumes into the vault or you kill the overseer and everyone leaves

I honestly think the line wanderer commuted suicide after Sarah lions died...think about it, LW wouldn't really have any friends besides lions and they're both dead, the things he worked for are In Turmoil...it's a definite possibility
+Caleb Hutchinson dog meat would be long gone, the original dog meat would be about 12-14 years old at the time of f4, there is no way dog meat would be that spry at that age, and even if he was alive he would die very soon

that's actually a very solid point. He could have started atom cats too because of the vibe you get from that group. Also, it would very well explain why the tunnel snake hair do is a hair option in fallout 4 (im wrong some one correct me. but i do think that hair style is in fallout 4)

I would think he died fighting with Lyon's Pride. It would be a tidy explanation of why he isn't involved with Maxson in the events of Fallout 4 and a convenient way for Bethesda to avoid making official canon decisions on what your character from their last game looked like.
Or even better. He or she could be the Mysterious Stranger. Plus remember the character could use fake outfits like Deacon. Just put on a mustache and fake contacts. You can fool people like that since the eyes will mix with imagination

The tough thing for Bethesda is the fact that depending on the player, the lone wanderer could've been male or female and people would probably be upset if they chose a specific gender to represent the lone wanderer. :) Maybe they've placed a vault 101 jumpsuit somewhere on the bottom of the ocean in Fo4 - who knows xD

Actually jokes aside that could be a good idea to for Bethesda to make canon. After TES 3 the Nerevarine leaves Tamriel stop an Akaviri invasion. It could make sense for the Lone Wanderer to use Mothership Zeta to stop an alien invasion by attack their home planets.
All 3 meeting up, along with every possible companion from 3, New Vegas, and 4. Its a new bad ass elite team. Only flaw is now all the doorways get blocked, all the time.

About the 101 jumpsuit, in the good karma ending with the second vault sidequest, you tell the Overseer that he need to open the vault to trade and open it to new genetics or the vault will die out. Maybe someone left from the Vault and came to the Commonwealth.
There's also an armored up vault 101 vault suit Moira gives you, meaning someone else left the vault before you did. Evidence enough that if one person left before The Lone Wanderer, many more could have
I like that theory. Not the entire Brotherhood force would be sent to the Commonwealth. The very old and very young would be left behind (7 year old and under). The Elder left behind would be changed with raising and training the children. They would have to be extremely trusted as well. (not just by Maxon, but the entire Brotherhood)
Yeah, since he was given the option to join Lyons Pride, which was the best squad there was during Elder Lyons time. It would also mean staying closer to "home" and keeping a eye on the people he cared for. (My Lone Wanderer was a saint)

by 2300 the lone wanderer has left the capital wasteland and that chick in megaton who runs the supply shop, and the wasteland survival guide, yes her, writes a book about him/her
I think the Brotherhood Outcasts actually took control of the BoS, and that Elder Maxon and the Lone Wanderer would no longer have good relations. There is quite a bit of evidence within the FO4 world pointing to the Outcasts having gained control of the Brotherhood.
It's all circumstantial, but I look to the red emblems on a dark background that now mark BoS power armor as opposed to the silver and blue of previous Fallout games, and of course the red and black markings were the hallmark of the Outcasts. Also if you look at the apparent turn towrds the dark side of the Brotherhood in general it would appear that the Outcast's ideology has won out. I think that the Outcasts must have been able to take over the Brotherhood after Lyons' death and when Elder Maxon eventually took over he had either been turned to side with the Outcasts or has had to govern with the Outcast's interests at the front or risk the BoS falling back into a civil war.
the lone wanderer wouldnt have good relations with the brother hood more likely because of the neutral companions. he makes friends with both a super mutant and finds a city full of peaceful ghouls wile the fo4 brotherhood wants to eliminate basically anything not human or at least treat them as subclass. they bully and take what they need and thats not something a paragon would follow. i think he even says somewhere that after lyons died he made contact with the west coast and they reverted back their previous tactics, which was what the outcasts wanted in fo3. its not that the outcasts gained control so much as maxon returned it to the original ideals. it is fair to say though that maxon would have idolized the wonderer growing up and to some extent that would be why he returned the brotherhood to its old ways. that was after all the fear of him going back into vault 101, that other people would idolize him and go out into the waste like he did. and lets be honest even if he is a saint of the waste he more than likely left a pretty long trail of raider/super mutant/ ghoul bodies even if it was the "right way".
Maybe a level cap would have prevented 4 from being ridiculously easy, even on original survival mode BTW fucking hate that they got rid of original survival mode for the patched survival mode as it forces me to turn down the difficulty even more. Plus the patched survival mode it's so far from NV's survival mode and not really what most people wanted: NV's survival mode added a extra mechanic and didn't become the central part of the game like in 4..... So yeah, there's that......
They could also pull a U turn on it and say sure, project purity was a success - but The Lone Wanderer was a monster. Maybe he had good intentions and goals like Kellogg and by the time FO4 hits, he's just as corrupted and evil. Maybe he's not only alive, but one of the most ruthless raider bosses in the next game

I think the lone wanderer is still alive and in New Vegas. If you go to the Vault 21 hotel and go into Sarah's room you can find a picture of Catherine and James.

He even watched you leave the vault. Not to sure about the Mysterious Stranger thing. He is a middle aged white man in FO4, but Bethesda has messed up a lot of lore in FO4 already
I think that the Lone Wanderer may have left the BoS after they started adopting harsh ideals after Maxson became Elder and left the Capital Wasteland, maybe to establish his own settlement like the Vault Dweller from the first Fallout. As for the cut Vault 101 jumpsuits, I think they may have been part of a side quest or random encounter were the Soul Survivor meets some Vault Dwellers from Vault 101, maybe trying to establish trade routes for their vault or just following the Lone Wanderer's example by exploring the Wasteland. I do admit it would've been interesting to see the Lone Wanderer in Fallout 4, maybe in the same manner you see Hawke, the player character from Dragon Age 2, in Dragon Age Inquisition as an NPC and temporary companion.
Dragon age was all about a shared universe where decisions you made in past gamdetermines the world state in inquisition (very cool btw); so you saw your version of hawke in inquisition. Fallout has no such mechanic, at most all they would ever do is throw in a reference as a kinda easter egg. Directly showing the character would cause too many problems with both old fallout fans and newcomers.

I've always imagined the LW and Sarah becoming a couple so after Sarah Lyons dies if he isn't dead then I could imagine the LW and Fawkes settling down in Megaton or Tenpenny Tower and just living and drinking booze. Wherever his 'home' is. Maybe settle down with Moira, to fill the emotional void Sarah would leave him. And Moira would eventually kick him in the butt and give him 'new adventures' to go out and help research new things for the survival guide.

Ultimately, Bethesda left the fate of the Lone Wanderer vague on purpose as a way for players to come up with their own ideas for their respective Lone Wanderers. My Lone Wanderer was a hero to the Capital Wasteland and helped everyone she came across to the best of her abilities. Her methods may have been questionable and heavy-handed at times, but ultimately proved beneficial to the people of the Capital Wasteland. After the loss of her father and her banishment from Vault 101, my Wanderer stuck with the Brotherhood after the Enclave's defeat, having no other home to return to. Sarah Lyons' rise to Elder after the death of her father was unpopular to many within the ranks, but my Wanderer supported her leadership despite raising the ire of her fellow soldiers. After Sarah's death, differences between my Wanderer and the elders that came after ultimately drove her to leave the Brotherhood. Eventually settling in Megaton, my Wanderer led a quiet life for many years, occasionally putting on her old Power Armor again to combat the threats the little town faced. Eventually she was approached by Arthur Maxson, now the High Elder of the Brotherhood, with an opportunity to travel to the Commonwealth. Ultimately, she refused, a decision Maxson respected due to his respect for her actions during her time with the BoS. While my Wanderer passed on the opportunity to travel to the Commonwealth to fight the Institute, the idea of a new adventure eventually drove her to leave the Capital Wasteland altogether. With the Super Mutant threat contained and the Enclave remnants rounded up, my Wanderer left her home in the care of her faithful butler Wadsworth, travelling across the ruins of post-war America, helping everyone she came across to the best of her abilities. But that's just my own post-game story. I personally think it would be disappointing to see a set-in-stone, canonical ending to a game that lets you choose who you want to be and how you want to live in the post-apocalypse. It's nice that Bethesda left references here and there to let us know that Fallout 3 mattered, but I'm okay with them just leaving it at that. There's many stories to tell in the Fallout Universe and the developers have given us the ability to tell them how we want to. Everyone has their own idea of who they are in the wasteland and trying to agree on a single set canon sort of defeats the purpose of the "Post-Nuclear Role Playing Game" in the end.
Late reply, but I get your point and agree with it somewhat, but a lot of Fallout 4 felt like retconing the Lone Wanderer out of existence. I mean there's no real proof or even throwaway dialogue that the Lone Wanderer was even real, nothing in the scribes terminal, nothing from Doctor Li about losing someone very close to her and not even Elder Maxon saying that he looked up to someone or that the Brotherhood owed their victory over the Enclave to somebody.
I like to think, that when we play fallout, we're treading on the little embers of truth, amidst a Wasteland legend. The Wanderer may or may not be real, I honestly say that no side quests were actually undertaken by the Wanderer, however they are attributed to them. Some say the Wanderer died at Project Purity that day, others say that a Super Mutant climbed into that purifier. Some say the water in D.C. is clean, others claim it poisoned. Some see a Saint, others a Monster.
There's a flaw in your logic there, the only people to ever leave Vault 101 were James and the Lone Wanderer, all the rest were either killed by radroaches or executed by the security, if they didn't die that way then they probably became ghouls.
+Banana Pie That's not accurate either. if you do the later quest "Trouble on the Home front" you revisit Vault 101 and retake it from the overseer. all the vault dwellers stay behind to rebuild but eventually they all leave the vault. So they would be perfectly able to make their way to the Commonwealth.

Furthermore, I think that Elder Lyons' and Sarah Lyons' deaths made them uncomfortable with the Brotherhood, as they were pretty much the only ones that the Lone Wanderer really, truly knew. I think the Wanderer is still in the Capital Wasteland, sitting in the Megaton house with Wadsworth (who I call the Codsworth rip-off), listing to Galaxy News Radio, while polishing up his Power Armor, and waiting for the next adventure to come their way. It's a stupid theory, I know. But it's the best I got.
My lone wanderer will totally agree with this! That's a good theory too. Maybe if with the mothership zeta dlc installed he'd be repairing the mothership after all the damage from the wanderer's escape and space battle afterwards! Hell why not wake up some of the inhabitants of the cryo lab, to all we know they could be helpful in studying the zetan tech. I'd mean with pre war and post war knowledge it wouldn't be impossible to understand the zetan tech.
All my characters have hatred for synths. I killed that escaped synth and zimmer. I killed every town in fallout 3. I killed 3 dog. The capital is the lone wanders. And the brotherhood left because of his presence. That’s my characters lore. But now though 3 dog can still speak on new shit I do. Even though I killed him after our first meeting.
I don't think he's alive, I mean he got in his vault when the war started. And fallout 4 takes place 200 years after, so he can't live that long, unless he's now a ghoul
his jump suit is in fallout 3 at paradise falls along with a holotape on him if you missed it some people miss it how ever it does not make a statement if hes dead or not
Let's keep in mind a few things here 1. After TLW activated Project Purity for good ol' dad, and he woke up in the Citadel 2 weeks later, Owyn gave him the rank of Knight in the BoS 2. After saving Megaton, he was given a house of his own there 3. He took out the almost everyone on Mothership Zeta, excluding the humans trapped there So he is either dead (likely died alongside Sara and the rest of Lyon's Pride), he is alive and is exploring the galaxy in the ship, he is alive and is part of the BoS (likely an un-named Paladin in 4), he is alive and with the Railroad (again, an un-named agent), he is still roaming the Capital Wasteland with Dogmeat, or he is sticking around Megaton to help out Moira more with her book.

Well, the last F3 DLC ends with the Lone Wanderer in control of an alien mothership. I choose to believe he's either fucked off into space or is exploring the world outside of America. Doubt we'll see him again anytime soon. Be cool to find his mothership again in a future game though.
Yeah like a DLC to mexico or something, and you see a huge ship in a mountain side and you explore and you find a skeleton with the Vault 101 suit. Omfg. I would fangasm if that happened lol.
I like this idea, but also see no point in meeting up with previous player characters. That's not really the way Fallout rolls, and it could really break the illusion for a lot of people to meet "their" character, but totally different from how they crafted said character. I mean, we only ever get references to the Vault Dweller and the Chosen One past Fallout 2, and mostly just in NV (because, you know, it'd be a little difficult for that info to travel to the west coast).
I feel as though Piper may have got to know the Lone Wanderer. She mentions the fact you came from a vault due to your "fish out of water" look so she's had experience with a vault dweller before. It can't be 81 because they're open to the Commonwealth and the other vaults are husks of what they once were. It would make sense if the Lone Wanderer came by and was amazed at how there is another Megaton like structure in the Wasteland.
Aye. Lone Wanderer isn't just a vault dweller anymore. He didn't just leave a vault and roam the wasteland - he practically *built* the Capital Wasteland as it is now. He's got more waster experience than some towns combined by the end of FO3. My guess, he's seen so much shit that he can't just stay still anymore. He'd have passed through before heading either to Canada or westwards. My guess, he'd likely be in either the Chicago area or Legion territory by the time of FO4.

Moira also states that she never had another assistant like the Lone Wanderer suggesting that she continued to make the wasteland survival guide after her business concluded with the Lone Wanderer. And if the survival guides are all made by Moira then the Lone Wanderer couldn't have been to Diamond City seeing as that was not part of the wasteland survival guide quest
Well I assume by the same logic that the Brotherhood Won that the NCR won the battle of Hoover Dam being as they have better Karma then Caesars Legion. As far as the Courier... Idk probably dead being as he was living on narrowed time... although wouldn't it be cool to get all the main characters together from each Fallout that are still logically alive in one game as like a companion? Imagine that? They'd be these immortal killing machines being as just the one of them in their own game was able to turn the tides of huge battles and wars.
The Courier has proven himself as someone who just refuses to die. He walked the divide at least 3 times, survived two bullets to the head, among other feats
Courier sides with House and after driving out Ncr and Legion from Vegas, He goes to goodsprings and starts to live there and he takes place of Easy pete after Easy pete's death.
The Lone Wanderer was an exemplar of the DC BoS as it was in Fallout 3, whereas in F4 Maxon makes it clear that he was very critical of the path they were on and brought them back to their original goal. If I remember correctly he was quite brutal when it came to objections to his decision and comes across as openly fanatical, getting very angry when met with dissent or disagreement of any kind. It’s likely Maxon instigated a “do not talk of the Lone Wanderer” policy, with severe penalties for doing so, which would fit in with the general character traits of a dictatorial-figure. As a child, Maxon wrote about his “love” for Sarah Lyons and may have come to see the Lone Wanderer as a “rival” for her affections. Going by his demeanour and attitude in F4, I can’t help but wonder if he had a hand in her death through a combination of jealousy and also the fact she would be the biggest opponent to the DC chapter returning to their old ways. I imagine that, along with characters like Star Paladin Cross who supported Owen Lyons direction, the Lone Wanderer parted company with the DC chapter when Maxon rose to power. I also like to think that they may have come to blows with the Lone Wanderer winning the fight, leaving Maxon with his scar as a reminder. If there’s one thing that people like Maxon hate it’s being reminded of and / or other people knowing he got his ass kicked and this would be all the more reason he would ban all mention of the Lone Wanderer. In summary, we can’t be sure where the Lone Wanderer is but we can be sure that Maxon is a dick!
So he came up with the story that he got the scar from a deathclaw and killed it so the rest of the BOS didn't view him as the Elder that lost to a Vault Dweller.
I feel like the Lone Wanderer could be taking care of MacCready's son Duncan in Megaton while he's away finding the cure for his disease. I like that idea, anyway. I like to believe that LW is still alive and safe, preferably in Megaton because it's near the vault and they like to make sure everything is okay around there. I feel like LW would keep an eye on the place from the outside, despite being banished and whatnot, because it was where they grew up.
I think that lone wanderer died at the red rocket where you find dogmeat and maybe dogmeat likes you because you resemble the lone wanderer from fallout 3

If cannon is the most positive karma ending the vault 101 suits would be available in the wasteland. You know that whole side quest where you go back to 101 put amata in charge and the vault opens up for trade.
I feel like every main installment of fallout (fallout 5) will have continued references to the lone wanderer having had been there. I would also doubt his death though, cause he canonically wouldn’t be the easiest guy to kill, him going from no violence in his life to destroying the enclave and slaying any manor of man and beast (including the talon company) that refused to let him save the wastelands. That is also ignoring how he’s fought through a slaver arena, and (like the other protagonists) has done the impossible time and again canonically. I mean, he’s been to space and has a spaceship, so really is there anywhere he cannot go?
My idea is that after exploring most of the East coast finishing off most of the Enclave and doing everything he wanted he heard news about the tales of stuff like ,The N.C.R, The Courier, Legion, New Vegas, and the first appearances of the enclave. He then heads west in between the events of New Vegas (2281) and 4 (2285) because of the sudden appearance of old Enclave remnants at the battle of Hoover Dam. His idea, Wipe out the Enclave once and for all.
That's not a bad theory. Makes full sense since it was the enclave who actually provoked James to kill him self so, the Lone Wanderer has every right hunt down everything related to the enclave even if it requires him to travel west.
For all we know the Lone Wanderer is one of the random BOS soldiers on the Prydwyn. They do mention that Maxon is the youngest to ever become an Elder, right? And the Wanderer is only in his 30's at this point? So presumably the Wanderer is just another person in the ranks of the Brotherhood. Also, great vid btw.
Lone Wanderer was made a member of Lyon's Pride and became and honourary knight (or Paladin, can't remember which). This would suggest the LW was higher rank than an average BOS soldier/knight, therefore imo LW isn't just a random BOS knight on the Prydwin
He was made a knight, which isn't really anything more or less than any others. Now I'm not saying he's not special, he/she was the main character. That being said, it isn't that unreasonable to assume he's not that high ranking imo.

I think the LW simply left the BoS when Maxson became the Elder. In Fallout 3, the BoS were the good guys helping everyone around the Capital Wasteland. But with Maxson as their leader, they became more like the Western BoS again: Not really evil, but quite a bunch of assholes. I doubt the Lone Wanderer would stick with their crazy dedication to exterminating all synths and ghouls ( Feral or not ). So they just left.
I think Wanderer heard stories of a badass mailman living out in the Mojave and decided to take a long trip from all the way from DC, to New Vegas, to meet such person. And then, to kick together some asses.
The Lone Wanderer is Deacon. There is simply no other way to explain Deacon. There's no way to explain how he knows so much about the Capital Wastes. He likes Grognak the Barbarian, as does the Lone Wanderer. The age even matches up. Deacon also approves of the former Brotherhood, meaning he approved of Elder Lyons, as the Lone Wanderer did. The Lone Wanderer even had access to facial reconstruction, and made contacts with the Railroad. It even explains Deacon's lying - the first Railroad contact the Lone Wanderer meets SPECIFICALLY TELLS HIM TO LIE!!!!!! It just makes sense.
I think he continued doing deeds across the wastes and stayed with the brotherhood and since he was declared a knight maybe he is one of the brotherhood knights in fallout 4
I think the Lone Wanderer is still alive during the events of Fallout 4 also with dogmeat and possibly with Fawkes by his side. The Courier is a completely story. Soon on my crap channel I will have m;y theories of what happened to the characters like the Courier, Lone Wanderer, Chosen One and Vault Dweller.
I mean in fallout 2 you can remind Dogmeat of his past owner, then in fallout three you can mention how he lost his owner... now fallout 4's Dogmeat may be different but who knows
just make your own head canon on what the lone wanderer does, my lone wanderer(brotherhood man) traveled to the commonwealth after learning of the local brotherhood being wiped out and hearing strange rumors of a demon who could appear anywhere in a flash of blue light with an army of metal men. upon reaching the institute ruled commonwealth of my fallout 4 character, he found the remains of the brotherhood, and swore to make it back to dc, to warn the brotherhood of the threat. right as he stood to leave the wreked remains of the prydwen, he heard a bang from behind him and saw a flash of blue, upon turning around he meets my fallout 4 char along with x6 and 2 syths, guns drawn. a fight ensues, and i cant pick a winner until i know if the institute still exists in the next game or not.

The institute dies anyway, and the minutemen ending would be the canonical one, but either destroying the BOS, or being that danse was cast out, he left the BOS, and the minutemen killed the Institute and everyone lived happy and peaceful
Not necessarily, remember Benny shot the Curior in the head and left them for dead, so one of the Khans with him could have stolen the Pipboy, or even Benny himself could have taken it. As for the Armored Vault Suit, it is possible you could explain away the armored vault suit as lost from wear and tear, or shot up, or even stolen while the Curior was left for dead as well. But still, I was under the impression that the Lone Wanderer died when he activated the purifier like when his dad did the first time, your even shown to fall over after you start it. Well, unless you get the mod that lets you keep playing, and you don't have that sequence take place, but that's a mod, not cannon...
ulysses is actually the wonderer. he watched the events of the divide as it was exploading and when he went to see if there was anyone he could help he could only even find one man laying, dieing on the ground. so he patches him up as best he can, but he knows hell soon be dead no matter what so he has him tell his story to pass the time. then at the end when the old ulysses dies the wonderer is so enraged that he takes up his identity and decides there will be justice for this crime

If not, then they should be dead, as the Radiation from the purifier starting up killed James, so to should it have killed the LW. If so then, I guess he could have stayed with the BOS, maybe as one of the random Soldiers you see in FO4? Or as a Paladin and didn't come to the Commonwealth? But then again, maybe he/she chose not to? It is possible that after the events of FO3 he/she chose to move on, and as he/she made their way to New Vegas. Their power armor failed and left it behind? (Or they did still have it, just forgot about it due to a gunshot to the head.) Then took a job as a Curior. Being who they are would explain how they were so good at what they did. Then when they got shot they lost all they knew and had to start over. It is interesting to ponder over, all the possibilities. Still it's up to Bethesda.
The Overseer for Vault 76 actually found out about the experiments and was almost changed to instead be the Overseer for Vault 101. Just follow the Overseers Personal Quest by finding her holotape in the Vault Tec Agricultural Centre in Flatwoods. It’s the fifth Holotape
My theory: There was an internal succession struggle within the brotherhood following the death of Elder Lyons, leading to Maxson (directly or indirectly) killing Sarah Lyons to seize power. Once he was ordained Elder, he purged elements still loyal to Lyons, executing or exiling many prominent soldiers in the process. This would also help reunite the brotherhood with the outcasts and consolidate his power, which was stated to have occurred. This would also explain the massive shift in mentality within the brotherhood. The Lone Wanderer; primarily loyal to Lyons mission of helping the people of the wastes, fled the Capital Wasteland, passing through Commonwealth at some point before Fo4. Possibly with help from the Railroad, as they have the infrastructure to smuggle people between the two locations undetected. From the Institute and the Brotherhood. Given the brotherhoods proud history, its surprising a soldier like Sarah only received a footnote in the terminals and there was no mention of the Lone Wanderer. Other members of Lyons Pride also never received any sort of mention whatsoever. Im pretty sure this is intentional as the Brotherhood would want to purge as many remnants of Lyons reign as possible. Its unlikely someone like the Lone Wanderer would succumb to the wastes, and he is likely still alive. Wandering, ready to help the people of the wasteland... or a lonely survivor of a vault, desperately looking for his son.
i think the lone wanderer is visting everywhere in america or even the entire world most likely on the ship from mothership zeta (i havent playing MZ yet so i dont know if he/she is allowed to leave it in space while he/she roams then goes back up to the ship to continue) the lone wanderer most likely left less than 9 years ago from where you start because 10 years between F3 and F4 that leaves time that he/she visted other places to create more survival guides like he/she did for the common wealth and the captial wasteland but thats what i think
Mikey O Riordan in MZ, sorta like The Pitt, once you start the main quest of the dlc, you're locked in that area til the questline is done..after that, you're free to come and go as you please. the ship in MZ sorta becomes like another player house with npcs living there...some even give you items every 24 hours or so.
the courier already has a LONG past, it wouldn't make sense for him to be the lone wanderer, plus the courier is blonde, the lone wanderer has black hair
You can pretend if you want, as long as you tell me how the lone wanderer, after being bored of the Capital Wasteland managed to travel 2,400 miles to Las Vegas, visit Montana, change his face, became a courier for the Mojave Express, establish a settlement in Hopeville, then cause the creation of the Divide and get shot in the head all in four years (more like three if you add up the time it must have taken to go through all 5 DLC's) :(
actually it could work. A vertibird captured and flown by bos scribes, could of flown LW to the west. I might be wrong by i think its mention that bos east is in contact with bos west again. That might be how.
The LW could've been on the run from the Brotherhood. They could've visited Diamond City because of the plastic surgeon there. Yes, I know that Maxson idolized the LW but judging by his actions towards Danse when they find out he's a synth it's safe to assume that it doesn't matter. Who knows, the LW could be Deacon?
Shit dude, that is a fantastic head canon. Deacon's last story about the UPclaws could be partially true, where instead of a gang it was the BoS after Maxson took control.
The lone wanderer could've had a problem with the way the brothrhood was headed under Maxon, it would explain why he rarely talks about his idol. His idol fundamentally disagreed with masons policies and goals and left the entire organization in protest which Maxon probably didn't take well because he's a hard ass.
if you look in the terminals inside the quarters of the pridwin you find out that the pridwin's reactor was taken off of an aircraft carrier in DC. Rivet city is an aircraft carrier. LW wouln't stand by and let the BOS take their power supply.

This may be a reference to Albert Cole, due to being one of the preset identities for the Vault Dweller. The Lone Wanderer is shown in promotional images as being a Caucasian male with brown hair, which is the first pre-made appearance in the character creation phase at the start of the game.

I think the Courier lost most of his memories when he was shot, that's why he doesn't know about what he did and Ulysses has to tell him in Lonesome Road
That theory isn't exactly true, since if the Courier has the "Lady Killer" perk, he will ask the Lonesome Drifter if they're 17, which he's told the Drifter is 28, which gives the implication he impregnated a woman in Montana about 18 years ago. The Lone Wanderer would have been far too young to impregnate a woman, especially since that would make the mother a pedophile.
F3's Brotherhood was a lot different than F4's. In F4 we saw a Brotherhood return to more of a strict humans-only philosophy compared to the more open philosophy of the group in F3. The LW could have had a falling out with them. But its been a while since I've played F3.
Just want to point out, During the kellogg memory section in fallout 4, you can hear pipers name mentioned on the radio, and she is an investigative reporter... if that event happened 80 years before, doesnt that make piper a synth?
Maybe it's a different person named Piper. Alternatively, it could be that the memories you're wandering through are missing some information, and as such the gaps are being filled in with information you know.

We got the LW leading a group of Zetans with the Mothership. The Courier with Cyber Dogs. And the SS with *Your faction.* Having a all out WAR as the Enclave and The Institute plan to create a nuke to wipe out the entire planet Earth. Oh and, you get to fly a airship and watch as your army of vertibirds follow you. Bethesda and Obsidian should collab for that! *Warning: Product is smashing the lore with a sledge hammer*
Here's my theory: everyone stayed in their areas. As in the lone wanderer is still in the capital wasteland doing his own thing ( when I beat fallout 3 I died at the end but I've heard that with a DLC you have the ability to survive ) and that the courier is still in new Vegas doing his own thing now that he has decided which faction would rule new Vegas
