Fallout 4 Vault Tec: HOW TO BUILD A VAULT (Bug Fix, Connecting Rooms, Lighting, Atrium Walkthrough) 

I think this actually the only build guide on RU-vid that shows you how to build it and not just a damn showcase of the vault

I've been putting a huge amount of effort into keeping these buggers *actually inside the vault*! They like to teleport out for various reasons... This seemed like a good place to share my tips! A few tricks I learned are: 1] Don't leave any openings in the vault at all. 2] Don't place crops to close to the wall, about half a 'vault square' from it should do. 3] Don't place the soda fountain in a corner, or with a side against the wall. The back is fine, but try to keep the front and sides far from outer walls, there is a _very huge_ 'teleport to interact with' bubble around this item. 4] Don't build ANYTHING outside the vault they can walk on that is not constructed from the SCAFFOLDING tab. I tested this, and a guy teleport up to the tip top of my vault to walk back and forth on a stair case build from the 'wood' tab, removed it and it's never happened sense. 5] Don't build anything the settlers can get assigned to outside of the vault (beds) crafting stations and other interactables seem to be fine, but I have had people teleport to my bed, and had to remove it. (I have an isolated section of the vault the settlers can't enter that is basically 'outside' the vault. 6] The elevator is great for making areas to keep your stuff in you don't want the settlers to mess with, I've never seen the settlers use mine. 7] ALWAYS place floors. Bare ground (like for gardens) will make the settlers glitch out, and teleport on top of the vault and get stuck!! 8] If you use the scavenger stations, place them near the entrance of the vault. I haven't tested placing them further inside the vault, but I've had issues with them before, and they seem to work fine where I have them placed. (right near the vault door)

ESO you are my savior. I've spent the past couple weeks making a few different vault variants and was clueless about the vault conduit and the power going through the floors. I've had a bunch of messy wires going everywhere and it looked terrible. Keep up the amazing work!

Already buildt twice the size(by increasing the workshop volume) and I found this video very usefull. So thank you and I will use some of these tips when expanding into other sections of the vault

1:02 You don't need to place a generator there. You can use the one that's already in the room where you kill the last ghoul before entering the main vault area. Just need to connect the vault pieces.

Also you can connect wires to the power conduit that snaps to the wall, for if you need to power a terminal or something.

BRILLIANT VIDEO - Big Thank You and you nailed it when you said "it's easy when someone explains it" Bethesda made the whole VaultTec thing insanely non intuitive and way more work than it needed to be imo. I built a small atrium to throw some beds on for settlers etc but then just walked away due to frustration. Snapping ( within the same category) is pretty shady at best as well. Nice work on this one fella, a big thumbs up and even a man hug for posting this one up.

Im not sure the confusion. I found it pretty straight forward. Patience and reading is required there are labels on the parts that say what it connects to.

I had like half of my vault built but when I thought about the lighting I tried with all the wires but gave up and deleted everything bc I was so annoyed... Thank you for this video soo much it helped me alot

You actually can extend your atrium ceiling. Just separate them to whatever length you like using atrium floor peices, build up your atrium walls in between, then extend the roof from there. There will be a gap left between the atrium end peices and the ceiling and walls, but if you remove the end peices and place an additional wall or ceiling piece, you can then replace the end peice and it will snap into place and fill in the gap.

there is a way if you dont mind it looking bit weird, to put a roof on an extended "atrium" use the pace anywhere mod will let you attach "floors" to the roof thus closing your atrium lol

You would think that with the contraptions, vault tec and far harbor dlcs, that you'd be able to create construction robots that can dig out the land anywhere within any settlements' boundaries. It'd be even cooler if the new buildable terminals allowed for a construct program (like Dima's memories), which enables you to virtually layout your (underground) compound exactly as you wish then accept, save schematic and will activate your construction crew to clear the land/build the basic setup/foundations for you. If mods for ps4 ever happen, I'd love a mod like this, even though there's the build anywhere mod. A mod like this would just make a lot of sense within the game functions, etc.

Great Vid. Helped a Lot. My only complaint, when making "How-To's" like this, why not use power armor with a Bright Headlamp? Would make it Much easier for the Viewers to See what exactly your doing. Now, to attempt the Atrium!! lol

I had a blast and still am with this dlc, the power system is easy, just snap a vault Tec reactor to any vault, and any connected vault piece connected to that reactor is powered, and in the switched section of the power there's a switch to connect to vault walls to tap into that power

this would've saved me ALOT of frustration on the 26th when the dlc dropped. spent hours learning all this by trial and error. my vault looks great now but I can't see using the space they give you before filling the build meter. and that's after scrapping everything possible.

Holy SHIT! This is awesome. Fallout4 will be the first game I get when i upgrade to XboxOne. I've needed this vid for a long time. After my 7yr old niece has has shamed me in skill and knowledge in Minecraft, I can't *wait* to find out what she will do with THIS! I'm upgrading within two weeks after watching this vid. :D

Thanks for this Guide! I had build a wonderful Vault, but most of it was in Darkness, because I hadn't build Power Lines yet. That was planed for Today, but now I can search for this Power Boxes and that will make all a little more easy. ^^ This DLC is Fun to play, but I needed much much Time, to only build the Atrium, because of the Cyling Gaps I had. Now I have an even better one, even if it is a little smaller, but now I become Problem with the "Max Build" counter. Really, I ask myself, how someone can build a REALLY BIG Vault, with most of the Tunnels used and without Mods, if the Counter fills faster as you can build the Main rooms for the new Vault Dwellers. For Example: I have build a good and big Atrium, a Overseer Room, Security Room, a little Private Room for the Overseer, two Reactor Rooms (Because one is needed independently from the Main Vault in a Special Tunnel Segment, a Cantina and a Clinic Module with Beds. But now I'm allready in the Yellow Field and only have the most needed Stuff in there. Most of the Clutter that makes a home looks alife is missing, I need to build Quarters and a Hydroponic Farm for Food and so much more, but the Counter is nearly full. And then there are some Modules I miss, that are needet to build a save Vault, like Walls to make smaller rooms for Private Bathrooms and so on. Rooms that are only one or two blocks big and there are still no functional Showers, Washers and dryersfor the Settlers! Living in a Vault is nice, but without the Possibility to clean oneself and the Clothes, the Air will become smelly pretty fast. ^^ Hmm... Maybe Beth should overthink the DLC Policy a little. They have made Themed Workshop DLCs yes, but by every one of theme there is the Feeling, something is missing. Special Contraptions Fabric Modules like a Recycler for example, or special Clutter like in the OCDecorator Mod, that makes a Empty Home nice to the Eye and feel better, or even such things like functional Showers, Washers and dryers. Yes, Fallout 4 is no Sims, but on the other Hand, why not? Good, the Settlers are so intelligent made like Brahmins, but if it is your duty to Build Settlements and now a Vault, why don't bring this Mechanism to the Peak? Also it would be nice, if Beth would give the "Lizens" to make "Clutter DLCs" to second Organisations OR speak with the Modders and make a "Modders Workshop DLC" where some Settlement Mods would be put together in ONE DLC, with stable compatinility between them and give the Modders for each buyed Version a small share. That would be nice and fair and better as the Plan to let others Pay for maybe "Pirated" / stolen mods, that bring the Game to Crash because incompatibilitys with other Mods. What do you think?

nice! i ran conduits from the vault tec generator all the way through the main area. the vault tec and floor boards i didnt realize you could do that. the problem i am facing is utilizing the other open sections. i am trying to enclose everything, but the problem is you cant put hallways through the tunnels.

I struggle so much with wall corners 💀 like the basic walls won’t connect in a corner you specifically have to use the corner wall piece and then sometimes the ceilings won’t connect to the walls either.

So for Some reason, ive I kill EVERYTHING in the entire vault thing except her it still tells me to kill all the goddam ferals. Please help me I’ve tried loading previous saves and even making a whole new one but nothing works So I can’t advance from the kill feral ghouls thing in the quest A Model Citizen

Is there a way to build the rooms on top of each other, for example the Overseer being two stories tall? I've been trying but I just cannot seem to connect any stair cases without it being connected properly. Like how hard would it have been to create stairs for each room type, not very...
