I got to say the game is kind of buggy but all in all it is still a super fun game. It's a shame that a lot of people that hate it aren't even giving it a try for themselves. They just let their favorite RU-vidr say that it sucks and they never even do research. If you liked playing Fallout 4 then you'll like 76 well enough. I was on the fence when I bought it and now I can't put it down

-= SOME MORE TIPS FOR BASE BUILDING =- - When you store a camp item that has multiple variants (e.g. wood wall, wood wall doorway, wood wall window) you can place any of its variants from the STORE tab. (e.g. I make a wood wall, store it, highlight it in the STORE tab, scroll left or right to the variant I want like the doorway, and place the doorway without wasting materials on scraping or crafting a new one) There is currently a bug that will let you place locked items you have yet to unlock if you can at least make one variant of the item. (e.g. A standard bed can be stored, then place a locked hospital bed) - If your build budget keeps getting filled up too quickly with very little items placed, try scraping any unused items in the STORE tab. Stored items count against your budget even if they are not placed. This also includes stored blueprinted items which will be at the top of your STORE tab list. - Keep room in your budget for the essentials. Make sure you have room in you budget for all your crafting/cooking workstations, one bed, and any turrets you may want. The best way to do this is to make first and immediately store them once you've made your base. - Before moving your C.A.M.P location, manually store items from your old location. There is a bug I've notice that some items will get lost when moving. My crops, generators on the ground, water purifier, to name a few. Most things stored without any problems but make sure to manually store anything expensive to rebuild. - Location, location, location. Unless you only use your camp as a quick and free fast travel point with only the crafting/cooking stations put down for simple repair, you will want to be sure the site you want to build suits all your needs. Some items have special requirements to be place. Crops, and some water pumps require access to dirt. Other water pumps require access to a body of water. Resource pumps need to be built on a resource pit (small crater, sometimes can harvest said resource manually at the bottom). Also check to see what the local enemy levels are. If you're level 10 in an area where enemies are level 30, you might have a bad time. If you are in a area where a Scorchbeast frequently spawns, you may want to think again about your camp placement. A camp should be a place to recover. If your base keeps getting destroyed by the Supermutants who's base is 10ft from where you set up shop, you are going to go through resources and stimpacs fast. - Want to get more stuff to decorate your base? Then you'll need plans. But plans can be expensive. So what do you do? Claim the unowned workbench around the map. There are a few workbenches around the map. Just clear out a few enemies, pay a small fee (20-40 caps) and the quest is complete. You get a few rewards but the big one is a random plan used to unlock something for the camp. A quest to defend the site will shortly pop up. If you want, you can defend the camp and get another plan. You can do this with multiple workbenches across the map or you can quite to the main menu, start up the game, and reclaim the same workbench again. When you log out of a server, you lose claim to all your workbenches. So you can just claim them over and over again. I don't believe you can unlock ALL the plans with this method, but you can get a lot of them. - DON'T PAY FOR WORKSTATION PLANS!!! I made the mistake of buying a 660 cap plan for the Tinkerer's Workstation and found out that all I needed to do is go through the main story quest for just a little while and I had all the workstation plans rewarded to me. Even the power armor workstation plans were given after a quest. That's all for now. I hope this helps people with there camp building.

I had the same problem moving the base in the BETA, try this: When you make your blueprint of your base, don't select your foundation. When you move your CAMP, just rebuild the foundation and slap the base on top of it.
@zDom
@zDom 5 лет назад
BTW, I'm not saying that this isn't a hassle - because if I recall correctly, you have to manually select everything except the foundation. I don't think you can Grow Selection and then deselect the floor. If someone tries this (I don't intend to move my CAMP again - LOL), let me know.

I loved building huge settlements in FO4 but in this game it is a complete waste of time.
@zDom
@zDom 5 лет назад
@@lewisner As far as CAMPs go, it's really similar to Minecraft in that regard. Do you want something big and fancy or small and functional. I think the best thing to do is have a small CAMP with just what you need to scrap & stash, preferably in a strategic location for fast travel (near a settlement or other important location). If you seriously want to do a Fallout 4 style build, you need to claim a settlement, defend it, build on it, and blueprint your progress. Settlements seem to be great sources of gaining resources, but there's the problem of defending it from regular waves of monsters, possible attack by other PCs, and worst of all, losing it when you log out. I think most people won't feel the effort to build an uber-settlement will be worth it until there's a way to save settlement progress between sessions.
@lewisner
@lewisner 5 лет назад
@@zDom I understand all that but I built a simple CAMP and ran out of wood with only half the roof done, and despite being armed with a firemans axe and surrounded by trees I couldn't get enough wood to finish the roof. When I went back to it today it had disappeared completely for no apparent reason that would apply in the real world. If I returned and somebody had stole it and I had to fight them , fine that would be realistic but why the hell would anyone steal it and leave my stash box and CAMP builder behind ?
@zDom
@zDom 5 лет назад
@@lewisner My CAMP has reset itself every time I've logged on, so I don't know - I've never accused any Fallout game of being realistic (there's lots of boarded up houses you can't break into, I wonder if you can nuke them?). It could be a bug, or it could be something destroyed your base, I don't know what happens if your stuff is destroyed while you're away. Or if you log onto a server where another CAMP is in your CAMP's location.

I put down one foundation, put some stairs on it and then put a floor on the upper section and built from there. Like that you only have to put down one foundation when you replace your base with the blue print. Works nearly every time.

This is true. However your ownership is temporary, it ends when you log off or a player claims it from you (PVP involved possibly) OTOH the workshop near grafton steel comes with prebuilt auto-harvesters for steel, and you can build others for lead, copper, and oil (as well as purified water, although that may have been a plan I found). One way around all this (at least for the house part if not externals) is the good ole Sky House. Just place a single foundation block, then a staircase rising off it, and then build your entire mansion off the stairs. You get the fun of a house floating in the sky, and you only need to place a single foundation block to set up your whole house.

Why are you blueprinting the foundations? Of course the ground is going to be different when you move your base but I would imagine you should only be blueprinting the actual structure on top of them so that the foundation placement can deal with whatever the terrain differences are when you move. Is that not an option?
@nightcatarts
@nightcatarts 5 лет назад
It seems to blueprint everything by default. This is definitely a bug because the foundation pieces are meant to allow placement at any point intersecting the ground, and they do the first time they're placed, but when in a blueprint that behaviour stops.

One possible way to move multiple items, this is untested and longer than the Fallout 4 method. Firstly create blueprint from items you want to move, then store the items, and finally place the blueprint. I wounder at what footprint size placing down a blueprint becomes a problem, as I have never had a problem with my 2 by 2 tower, but you seem to be having a problem with a 3 x 3 building.

Put your foundations further up from the base ground. Makes it easier to place after a move as you have more play in your connection to the ground. Still doesn't work great. You can also drop the foundation from the blueprint and then store the foundation separately. Just rebuild the foundation and then drop the blueprint on it. Again, still doesn't always work. I've gone to a fence mindset, with a small hut for the bed. Works quick, resets quick, and just stores. Doesn't take long to drop the fence back around and place the benches.

Then I just put turrets around it and added a few work benches and it became the perfect safe house. Came with a nice bed already. House near the Nuka factory near the water. Came with both doors attached and no exterior holes in the roof or walls. Just a hole from the bathroom to the bedroom. Decent condition. Both porches had no damage. Set up your camp there for a perfect spawn location. Only bad parts about Fallout 76 are the lack of missions, asshole players, buggy lands and creatures, and crashes. Thank God they put the block from session option. Quicker to get rid of a annoying player than GTA's kick button. Easy to get weapons, ammo, and items. If you can, Find a good pre built building and set up camp in it. Just make sure it is not an enemy spawn location. Mine came with a dead radroach sitting on the crapper with a gold wedding ring spawn. Just wish that health items didn't have weight. Tired of getting bogged down. And wish they would get rid of the eat and drink to live option. Really annoying! And get rid of the disease option. Tired of getting a fucking disease every time I eat or get hit. And the random enemy spawns.......... ..walking Then proof! A group of 20 scorcher appears around you. This game doesn't seem like a group game. Everything can be done solo. Even the events can be done solo.

I found out along time ago. That using a gatlin laser is the best way to conserve ammo and obtain xp through events. you can litreally farm 80+ fusion cores in a single day thats 40000+ rounds. Do that and save your missiles use the hellstorm missle launcher. You litreally can run through events.

My base is more like a military themed one it has a wall with a perimeter bridge going around most of the front and has turrets and in the centre there’s a big cabin. I also have a siren there so that works as an alarm and 2 water purifiers currently and a small farm. Sadly due to the budget I can’t seem to build a wall all the way around the base meaning players can get in with ease but AI well they are more about trying to destroy your walls.

They do still have workshops, they are at the locations were the events happen where you have to claim the workshop and rebuild the power supply

Several weeks ago when at Level 8 in Fall-Out 76 I decided to build my camp. Once completed I continued with the game until the next Checkpoint. The following day I loaded the game only to discover that my Camp had completely disappeared due to one of the many glitches and bugs in this game. I read somewhere that the higher the level of the player the more budget there is. So I waited until I reached Level 58 and again began to re-build my camp. The first thing I noticed was that the budget size was just the same. So, where did that rubbish come from ? Anyhow, my main point is this, I set down all my foundations but decided it was too spacious, too large, and so I tried to store several foundation items in an attempt to reduce the size of the perimeter but the game told me that 'The item cannot be stored' nor deleted. These items were already stored from the previous build several weeks earlier which disappeared due to the glitch. So, I'm asking is there a way to reduce the size of a camp by way of storing or deleting items which have already been laid down. I'm almost certain that there wasn't a problem doing this in the first build but now there is. Thanks.

For turrets, I would say a max of 3 or 4 turrets for defending

I don't know what ads you looked at but Base building was not the main selling point of this game. The massive map compared to previous Fallout, the introduction of the opportunity for PVP and of course the introduction of multiplayer environments or the main selling points is this game

I have a 3-4 story tower on 2x2 stilted foundations that I never have a problem moving, perhaps the concrete foundations are more problematic.

There actually is workshops, they’re at certain locations and you have to defend them for waves of enemies every now and then

Baeemoving tip Found out by accident but if when you build base you put 1 foundation platform then stairs up, and continue every think there on up moving base is easy. Note haven't tried this with water purifier yet.

Someone told me that you can make a blueprint out of all your house EXCEPT the foundations, then lay the foundations by hand and place the blueprint above it without any hassle.

My hint about the "moving multiple objects" issue: You can store the whole structure and put it all down again somewhere else

The ground floor of my base is 3 squares. A rectangle. The second and third floors are 12x8 squares. This seems to make it alot easier to move camp. I built it on a riverbed then popped it up on a cliffside no problem.

The best way to build a base is to make the foundation 1x1 made of wood, then build up so you can place it basically anywhere and dont gotta worry about concrete

I'd just like to figure out how to regain all the stored items in my CAMP that were deleted by my CAMP when I moved it to a new location. Had walls, plants, a bit of furniture in the CAMP storage. All gone (and no, I did not hit the delete button). Hoping the new patches will fix that annoying issue.

I solved the base moving problem by making my first floor just 2 foundation blocks with set of stairs on them, the main floor with all the stuff was the second floor.

My biggest issue is being _constantly_ over-encumbered. I have so many perks that make things lighter, most maxed out, but I just can't manage to keep an organized inventory to save my life. My stash is always full yet I only carry like 3 weapons at a time and the clothes on my back. I even took up cannibalism so I wouldn't need to carry so much food. Should I just try and figure out which materials are less useful and sell them? I feel like I'm just missing something. lol

@snowwann273

u can build a small house or u can just make things modular and have a turret tower of power and just put ur crafting stations on a floor foundation to drop where it can fit. this is an issue when trying to put down an entire small house, u dont always get a large enough clearing to place the entire thing. good luck.
