I think he’s refreshing for the BoS story like. They’re all so stoic and imposing. It’s nice to see a different version of a person before they turn into that.
I actually liked Maximus. I believe he was intended to be a chaotic neutral personality despite his background. Each of the three main characters are supposed to represent the positive (Lucy), neutral (Maximus), and negative (The Ghoul) choices you can make in the game. If you imagine him with the Idiot Savant perk from the games, he makes much more sense. He is written intentionally to make good and bad choices. He looks after his own interest but is not inherently evil or good. He stole the power armor and lied about it, but also helped Lucy and told her the truth. Not sure why everyone here doesnt like him. I think he fits the neutral alignment quite well. He isnt the brightest but gets very lucky multiple times throughout the show just like the idiot savant perk from the games. I think he was really well written with all that in mind.
I think he is the most unlikeable character I have ever seen in a series, and I honestly don't really get triggered ever, but omg this person have so many weird facial expressions that doesnt make sense, and everything he says or does makes 0 sense too. The acting is really really bad too from him. So far I like mostly everything else, but its like they found not A or B actor but had to go with a C actor....
Norm MacLean is my fave because he's like a classic Fallout character. I imagine he's got the Small Frame perk, can hack advanced terminals, is clearly stealthy, and always discovering secrets and shit
I love the idea that some of the characters exhibit different traits and would seemingly have more points in certain stats (stealth, perception, luck etc.) - Max and Lucy have that high luck...
