It completely changes Episode 1. It wasn't raiders it was the NCR attacking the vault that nuked their Capital 15 years ago. Monty was irradiated because Lucy's dad nuked him as a kid.
Lucy’s silence for the remainder of the episode after finding out what happened to her mom is SO LOUD. You can almost feel the stress, anger and sadness she’s feeling, without much being said.
And the parallel from earlier where she witnesses The Ghoul mercy-execute his own friend who's in the process of going feral echoes all the way forward to Lucy making the same decision. 😭
Cooper has gotta be the most insane character in Fallout lore. Fought in Alaska in power armor, essentially became Clint Eastwood, worked with Vault Tec and inspired Vault Boy, spied on Vault Tec and overheard probably the most important conversation in canon, witnessed the bombs dropping, survived, and became a fucking ghoul cowboy?!

Betty has a lot of secrets. 1. She was the secretary in the office before the bombs fell. 2. Her second secret was acting like she was blind at home and having a roommate named Deadpool.
If Fallout game fans are wondering, this reaction is very timely because Todd Howard and the showrunners just confirmed that New Vegas is canon and those events already happened. So it looks like with that last shot of the season we are revisiting it again. Overall, this season was great. One of the best adaptations for a video game to this day. Full stop, it was a great season regardless. S2 now please!!
@@Scimarad personally hope it’s either the NCR or Mr. House. One way could lead Lucy and Cooper a rabbit hole of corruption and character growth for both, while the other is a great way to force the brotherhood to come to Vegas due to the abundance of old world technology. We also saw live action Mr. House in the meeting, so who knows?
As someone who’s never played any of the games, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this show. I’m Looking forward to see more. Prime Video has really been cooking recently with their original content.
@@evandipasquale9255Still, how many times have we got a good lore accurate but original video game adaptation? Yes, there's TLOU, but it's just retelling the game's story. And with Arcane, although the story was original and expands the backstory of it's characters, the developers was also largely involved on the writing process of the show. With Fallout however, not only does they stayed mostly true to the game lore and it's setting, but also made an original story based on it with Todd Howard present maybe just to fact checking them.
Definitely play the games! If you want to play one that connects to this area of the US, play Fallout: New Vegas but of course play Fallout 3 and 4. The first 2 are from the late 90s and are also really good but it’s a turn based game so it’s hard to get into and it’s okay to just watch lore videos for those
Barring their LOTR flop they have been hitting more than missing their original series unlike Netflix which has become mundane. Disney also has Shogun rn which is the best thing on TV since Chernobyl.
This show was a pure masterpiece. It did more right than it did wrong. I found myself forgiving the very few issues because it is clear that people that love fallout made this show.
The only "issues" I had were that Lucy and Cooper were much more interesting characters than Maximus, not that he was a bad character or anything. The romance definitely wasn't necessary and the enclave felt like it should have had more of a heavy role considering they had very important tech stolen from them that would revolutionize the brotherhood which is not in their best interest at all. I get that having synths hunting down the man as well would have added possibly one too many players to the story but it is weird that they weren't more present.
My theory is Betty also ordered the bombing of Shady Sands, since she told Norm she and Hank buried his mom with her pip boy together. Might have just meant buried her under a pile of rubble in a bomb 🤯. Would be a fun reveal for season 2 with writing to back it up
no it was ONLY HENRY, rose had ran away with the children there is no way betty would have went with him because the vault needs an overseer. he went and took a bomb with him. and than when rose refused to return he took the children back and blew up shady sands

As someone who has never played a Fallout game, I loved this series. I love the fact that they didn't just rehash a story from the games, but instead continued the lore.
and you can't compare it to the games, because in games the player choices whom they're gonna taking sides and will affect the ending of the game story but in Tv shows the one that decides the story and how it ends are the writers, producer and the director.
Man, when I saw Mister House at the Enclave meeting I was stunned my brain stopped working forthe rest of the scene until "War Never Changes" brought me back in... Absolutely phenomenal!
They nailed so much about this series. The tiny elements from the games, to the big reveals of House, Frank Sinclair, Leon Von Felden, and of course New Vegas at the end. One element I'd like to point out that I really appreciate is the portrayal of the Brotherhood. It was known that the West Coast Brotherhood were indeed hardcore and held true to their mission as mentioned in games, especially by the DC Chapter and Elder Lyons. They're really ominous here, and the theme especially helps. I can't wait for season 2.
@mattragusa210 Ehhh. The BoS has always been one step from turning into techno-fascists. That's always been their shtick. People just got too used to Lyons and they forget how shitty the BoS treats everyone who isn't them going all the way back to FO1. This is just the first time we have an Elder who is outright ambitious and with nobody to stop him. This dude is basically a less smart and delusional Elijah.
I didn't know anything about Fallout before starting the TV series. Loved the world, the characters, the performances, the storylines and the sets. All of it really.
That is so promising that non-Fallout-fans also liked it. As a long-time fan of Fallout, it's hard to judge if the content is going to be hard to grasp in a show like this, but it seems everybody likes it.
All the reveals in this finale were CRAZY. Ive never played Fallout, so I had no idea about the lore. However, I loved this show, and the fantastic sets, practical effects and acting by Walton Goggin, Ella Purnell, Max Moten and Moises Arias were all outstanding in this show. The twist that Hank, as well as other Vault dwellers from 2077 like Betty and what's left of Bud Adkins, was responsible for nuking Shady Sands and killing thousands, including his own wife and Maximus's family, honestly blew my mind. Not to mention the fact that Cooper's wife and the entirety of Vault Co. starting the war, which is INSANITY, to begin with, is so incredibly dark and yet sadly extremely true to how I imagine a lot of governments and businesses would use a nuclear fallout to their advantage. It is also even grimmer that you realise all the ideas that the meeting members were suggesting are all tasks that different Vaults are assigned to do in the actual Fallout Games as Vault Dwellers of the game since each Vault is tasked to do some meaningless and unethical experiments that are just a sick game for the Enclave (rich folks at the top). It was really satisfying seeing The Ghoul shoot Henry even if he survived, and Lucy having to kill her own barely alive mother just to stop her suffering as a Ghoul is so tragic, especially when all she wanted to do was to live her own life with Moldaver who actually loved her and give her children a better future. I really hope Maximus uses his power as a knight to do some real good, and I genuinely hope he can reunite with Lucy again because the two of them are too good for this world, and they deserve happiness together, as well as the Ghoul/aka Cooper. One thing I especially loved about this series is how every action in the show has some reaction or consequence at the end of the day, such as how Lucy lets all the Ghouls free, which is apparently very similar gameplay tactics to the original games that do the same thing having players's actions impact them. I NEED SEASON 2 NOW! I especially hope that teasing at the end with New Vegas and the skull of a Deathclaw means a Season 2 is bound to happen. 9/10
Actually Vaultec starting the war is not new. It always have been a big theory among the community that it was possible that vaultec started it. But now it’s canon

Man that ending for Maximus becoming the hero that he never wanted but needs to be and Lucy and the Ghoul going to a Vault?. That fact that we get new Vegas in the end is really insane and fun.
I honestly can't remember a series first season where the last episode is so closely intertwined with the first episode in a way that shows each character's journey/arc and reveals so many misconceptions & lies. Each main character is now on a completely different journey than what they'd imagined when they started and makes complete sense narratively.
This was my favorite tv series in a very long time. The balance of bombastic world building and comedy, with a legitimately well written, mystery-based story, was perfect. And being a life long Fallout fan was just an added bonus. It was so true to the spirit of that world that I couldn’t believe what I was seeing on screen. It was a great creative decision to base this story around original characters, while still taking place in the canon Fallout universe.
This series was a 10/10 for me. I’ve never played the game so had no idea what to expect apart from what we saw in the trailer. The casting was perfect, the set and CGI was brilliant, the details in the story and writing were probably some of the best I’ve ever seen. Season one ended so perfectly while leaving SOOO many questions that I feel like most aren’t talking about. Where is the Ghouls family? What happened to Thaddeus when he ran away after realising he was a ghoul? Did norm go into the freeze chamber? Who were Steph and Betty in the pre nuke world? And who else came from vault 31? Honestly one of the best series I’ve ever watched! Bring on season 2!

Over the past however many days, I have been watching an episode of this show and then 'running' over to youtube to watch y'all's reaction. I have never played the game, but this is an exceptional show. I know the feeling of catching easter eggs in shows/movies, so I was delighted that Michael was expressing such joy at them. I want seasons upon seasons of this stuff.
The combination of player / non-player AND thoughtful discussion is better then the other reactions I've seen. As a non-player it's great getting the enthusiastic shout outs when something game related pops up. Plus the singing really shows love of the franchise. here after 1:20, I started playing Fallout shelter after watching the series 4 days ago, then I did a quest and got 'Lucy' and it clicked me an hour later, it's really interesting that they integrated them without forcing the characters, I am now travelling to rescue dogmeat. Love the reactions btw just in case I forget to type that. lots of love!
I know Fallout mainly from people talking about Fallout for decades. Heh. I don't know a LOT, going into the series I had heard about The Ghoul and some game bit about him being immune to radiation and whatnot? Something? Also a dog companion, and the vaults, post nuclear apocalypse, 1950s style. Some of the costumes and iconography. That's about it. I ADORE this show. 10/10 In every important respect, they knocked it out of the park: The writing is BRILLIANT. Juggling multiple characters. Loads of characters that end up way more interesting and dimensional than one would expect. Communicating the story and lore without infodumping awkwardly. Skillful use of tropes. The music and, even more, sound design. Amazing. Obviously, the costumes, sfx, and all of that, cinematography and edits, amazing. ACTING. Just... wow, so much amazing acting. This is vaulted (heh) up to my top 10 series list.
I was at my mom's place for the weekend when I watched this the first time. We got to this episode and when "the line" came, I said it before the actress did, and my mom looked at me like I was psychic or something. I never told her it was based on a video game, or else she probably wouldn't have watched it. lol
I love the format of having a reaction with one person who knows very little about Fallout and one person who knows a TON. you get the fresh perspective along with the seasoned vet with context. sorta parallels Lucy and The Ghoul but as reactors
This show could go for years and not get all the stories I want told done.. Excellent reaction video too, great to have a none player view along side a players view and both really like it all from the first episode.
The Fallout world is the ultimate playground for any producers with a creative mind. The potential is limitless for isolated stories all over the world of Fallout.
As someone ho has had little exposure to the Fallout games but was aware of the broad strokes of the lore, this series captivated me and made me a fan of the universe. What a spectacular achievement in storytelling this show is!
Moisés Arias as Lucy’s brother, Norm, really stuck out and his performance should not go unnoticed. I hope he is utilized much more in season 2! I love Reel Rejects!💙
Big Fallout fan here. This is a show that was made for guys like us. I hope they explore the Maxson Brotherhood deeper, or even show that there are different Chapters among the Brotherhood with their own ideals. I also kinda hope they make a reference to Fallout Nuka Break
This is the best season of television I've ever seen. Greg should definitely play Fallout New Vegas before season 2. Imagine the perspective he would have when commenting on season 2 after he has played New Vegas! This makes me want to go play Fallout again and create a Lucy character.

The show was awesome! Fallout 3 was my first Xbox 360 game. Started playing it for the first time since I originally beat it. What a blast from the past.
This episode reminds me of the Dr in ep2 saying something about when Lucy gets her dad back would they still want the same thing and about evolving into an entirely different creature.
Shady Sands may have been the capital of the NCR, but it was a tiny fraction of the overall NCR population and territory, which we know spanned multiple states and included hundreds of thousands of people. Much like the US would continue if Washington D.C were wiped off the map, so too does the NCR. As confirmed by Todd Howard himself in a recent interview.
I think that was New Vegas at the end. I don-t know if Mr. House is going to be there, or if the dates match. In any case, at the very least in season 2 I want to see cazadores... and the quarry... 😈
Vault Tecs plan is so perfect, it's totally in line with everything we know about Vault Tec. But also it's so opposite of the Fallout universes whole theme, that has always been 1. people will always survive in some form or another and 2. as long their are people they will be war because 3. War NEVER changes! And I can't wait to see the look on their faces when they find out how wrong they were.
9 As a long-time player of the game I just loved how they did this. Not sticking to a particular platform allowed them to be creative and draw both into enjoying this.
Maybe I'm reaching, but I think the casting of Leslie Uggams as Betty was a tribute to Nichelle Nichols Uhuro from Star Trek. Nichols passed away and Uggams has a great resemblance and is also a powerhouse actress. What do y'all think?

As someone who played my first fallout game nearly 25 years ago (Fallout 2) and then went back and played the first Fallout. Then replayed fallout 2 basically a few times a year untill fallout 2 came out about 10 years later, i loved this show. I have played every single fallout game, including the not so good Fallout Tactics and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel on playstation and it is my favorite franchise of games ever. I cant freaking w8 to see season 2 knowing all the iconic monsters, factions and locations.
Somehow out of everything, I noticed that the ghoul sitting in the observatory was probably someone important, and then deduced it was probably Rose, because why else would the leader of a civilization that has kids running around just keep a potentially dangerous ghoul on standby if not someone crucial to someone else. It was said by Betty that she was buried but it was never shown and vault-tec is shady as is obviously shown about how they do things. Literally, a "random" ghoul seemed so out of place to me in that setting that It was pretty clear that it would be someone important to all of them in some form.
Such a great episode, every ties together so perfectly: all the different parties meet in the same place, all the different stories converge and, finally, the past reaches the future, as in, we know how each event in the past affected the events of the future, from the Great War to Shady Sands, to the reason Maldovar kidnapped Lucy's father and why everyone wants that head. Brillant :D
I hope Michael realizes that Mr. House was in the management meeting with the other companies alongside the head of Big Mt. who created the Sierra Madre and ofc Big MT. I can’t wait to see what they do in season two!!
My favorite line from the show is from lucy in episode 7 when she says "if my dad found out i destroyed an entire community to save him, it would break his heart" only for us to find out he did the same thing to Shady Sands sorta.
I really loved this series. I can't wait for Season 2! I haven't played Fallout since the late 90s. The show really made me want to play it again so I just downloaded Fallout: New Vegas. It helps most of the games are on sale at the moment too 🤣

What was surprising?! To me surprising was the fact that we delved deeper into the backstory of Vault-Tec and their intentions, who was actually behind the Nuclear War and HOW evil they actually are. In The Games it is not REALLY mentioned that they are evil, yes there are all the experiments in the vaults but its not explicitly shown that Vault-Tec is the TRUE Villain of Fallout. ALso the backstory of the Vaul-Boy Thumbs Up Pose, its said in a game that the ThumbUp is the "bigger than the exploision" test but not that an actor who did commericals for Vault Tec was the one who created that iconic gesture for on a whim basically.

I paused in the intro to come leave a comment. And let me say as a fallout fan who only played fallout 4 & a tiny speck of 76, I absolutely love what they did with the entire show. It really kind of felt like watching someone playing a fallout game, I am so invested! Even though I haven't played all the games I followed the lore from all the games, especially all the different vault stories. This series was a treat & I'm sad it was only 8 eps! Can't wait for a season 2!!!!
Michael, what do you think about the theory that the BOS in this show has synthesized with the Caeser's Legion making a BOS/Legion faction. The members have roman names (Thaddeus, Titus, Maximus) like most Legion characters in NV.
It’s honestly a great theory and would make sense - dwindling ranks in the brotherhood and scattered members of the legion, sure makes for a sick combo! I hope we explore it in S2!
Dude, I felt your look when he said, “I just know Fallout better than you”! And I absolutely loved the show and have been replaying some of the games because of it. People’s “hate” towards it for relocating Shady Sands from Death Valley to downtown LA doesn’t make sense to me when even a GECK wouldn’t bring rain to that place to support almost 35,000 people. So stoked for New Vegas in live action though!

I watched this show with my mom and sister, just finished this episode last night, my sister hasn't played any Fallout, and my mom's played 3 and 4, I however, have started Fallout recently, but have spent too long playing Fallout 4, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas, and whilst not completing the story for almost any of the 3 I've mainly played, I've played more than enough New Vegas to know what I was seeing, and I was more than stoked to see it, and no one knew why i was so happy and excited💀
Ive watched this show twice now... Once on my own and once with these reactions and both times I keep finding more and more easter eggs as well as just more and more understanding of the lore and world building as well as the future of Fallout
To everyone saying the NCR is just gone, that's not entirely true. For one, other pockets of the NCR outside of Shady Sands could still exist. But, beyond that. We do know, for a fact, that Vaut 4 is full of Shady Sands survivors just waiting. So who knows what's really instore?
It’s crazy how in the beginning you hate Moldaver but at the end you end up agreeing with her and realize she knew about Vault Tec’s sketchy behavior as well as they’re secret but now she died and she would’ve been an excellent addition to the storyline for season 2
I thought he might think they were going yo New Vegas when they showed all the heads of the plan in the flashback since u know who is the leader of it.
I loved the show a lot. And I was really taken by surprise by that, just like Michael, because these adaptations normally never end well and - well, honestly - nowadays streaming content isn't often that good. But it was pretty much perfect aesthetics wise. Sure, I do prefer FO3's style for the Vaults and ghouls a bit more but I do get why the chose the more modern titles' portrayel of these locations. Pre-War aesthetics were on point, even small things like color grading did the perfect job. Acting was phenomenal, especially in the final episode. My highlight was Walton Goggins, particularly his pre-war portrayal. His expression when he listened to the meeting, when he heard his wife - priceless. The whole story coming together and all the cameos in that final episode were great. And rewatching the series makes it all make even more sense. A lot of sublte foreshadowing. And of course the music accompanying it (and the whole series in general), both the OST and the radio songs, were really well made & picked. That last shot / the entire epilogue was great and I'm excited for season 2 - but at the same time a bit worried. Here are my takes on the "retcons" and complaints from some parts of the fandom: - House was at the meeting. As he said, he knew people in high places and had calculations already. He didn't participate in the experiment suggestions and was only there to poke at them because he knew he can't stop what they're doing (the show already set up that people who are trying to stand against it are being labelled communists and are ostracized from society ... huh, kinda rings a bell nowadays?) but he knows he has his own plans set into motion, so that meeting is kind of an infiltration for him. - The show did a poor job of showing it but I don't think they want to imply that the NCR is destroyed - just that the NCR lost L.A. / the area around Shady Sands. They're still around in the finale (though that place is also really small but I chalk that up to budget stuff) and they have other territories in California, so I'd wait for season 2 where they'll probably show more of NCR. - Shady Sands wasn't nuked in 2277, whoever made that board just did a poor job and missed making another mark WHEN it was actually nuked - but it's implied that Shady Sands was already starting to fall apart in 2277 (which is sort of in line with New Vegas and its portrayal of the NCR and how it's going down the same path as pre - war America in many ways, both good and bad) and then it was nuked sometime AFTER New Vegas. The show plays in 2296, so there's more than enough time, so hopefully season 2 clarifies this better. - I don't think all Ghouls have to take that "Anti-feral-stuff". Sure, it's a bit of a weird (and then again, an interesting) addition to the lore but I think only ghouls who are on the brink of turning feral & took too much radiation have to take that stuff. So basically there's a threshold at which you turn into a Ghoul and going further increases the risk of turning feral which the vial counters. Go further and you're gone and turnt feral. That's how I interpretate it. There are some other things that bothered me a bit but the show still turnt out surprisingly good and I'm happy about it. I just hope they fix some of the uncertainties and issues in season 2. And hopefully, they'll keep the courier (and other potential protgaonists) as a mysterious figure so the players can still insert themselves into that role, how it's supposed to be. Emil's newest tweets saying the PCs' canon stories are what the player thinks of it are kinda confirming that at least. And I'm rooting for Mr. House or Yes Man as canon ending. Or maybe even some workaround but that'd also cheapen New Vegas' ending choice a bit in retrospect, so ... Idk how they're gonna do it. Not an easy task. But the fandom will still have war at their hands. Because war ... ok, no I won't do it in that cheesy way.😂 Great reaction from you guys, thank you for this.

Only this time, a new limitless source of energy called Cold Fusion was created which could mean a new era of peace for some or conquest for others. Vaults 31, 32 and 33: Despite the losses from the attack from raiders lead by former NCR Ranger, Lee Moldaver the residents of Vault 33 endured and some moved into Vault 32 to rebuild after discovering that the residents there have been dead for 2 years without explanations. Norm: Norm trapped in vault 31 by Bud Askins had no choice but to enter his father's cryo pod to avoid dying from starvation or dehydration hoping for his sister would return to save him. Siggi Wilzig and CX404 aka Dogmeat: With the death of Doctor Siggi Wilzig, his companion CX404 or Dogmeat as others call her has decided to accompany Lucy and forms an attachment as she did for Wilzig before her. Filly: With the help of NCR and The Brotherhood of Steel, Filly rebuilds from the damages the fight between Maximus and The Ghoul and provides protection from any further incidents from raiders to cutthroat mercenaries. Vault 4: Vault 4 and its residents continue on their daily lives, until the death of Lee Moldaver reaches them, and the vault goes into chaos with the death of their prophet. Those who survived, return to the surface and traveled to Sacramento, The Capital City of the New California Republic to restart their lives as they did in Shady Sands. Thaddeaus: Thaddeus's transformation as a Ghoul could have made life hard for the former Squire, but instead, being found by the Followers of the Apocalypse was welcomed and became a combat medic to help those in need. Avoiding any sightings of the Brotherhood fearing of facing retaliation for desertion and possibly sharing Brotherhood secrets though has never committed to this day. Dane: Despite recent events, Dane had become Squire of the newly promoted Knight Maximus where they both will both fight side by side against whatever threat comes next. Lee Moldaver: Lee Moldaver who's lived for over 200 years remains a mystery. A secret she will take to her grave. But, not before achieving her goal of creating Cold Fusion as a limitless source of power in the hope will be the first step to everlasting peace. Brotherhood of Steel: The Brotherhood despite suffering heavy losses, successfully captured the Griffith Observatory from Moldaver's raiders and have gained a foot hold in the LA County area with the Cold Fusion reactor powering the city. Lucy: With the revelations of her mother and the destruction of Shady Sands by her father and how Vault-Tec caused the apocalypse 219 years ago understood that to make a real difference in the world is by bringing down Vault- Tec and their ally's once and for all and has decided to accompany Cooper Howard in tracking down her father as the first step. Lucy no longer goes by the name MacLean as her relationship with her father died with her mother and has started to adopt her mother's maiden name as her last name.
