Fallout London Has Been DELAYED Due To Fallout 4 Next-Gen. 

Now positive stuff: I agree with your opinion 100% that the Fallout London team did the right thing and I think that they are heroes for all they are doing. I also think you are 100% correct that we asked for this update (because we didn't know what it actually was) and Bethesda absolutely has the right to tinker with all of their games. And, as the trifecta, I also agree 100% that Bethesda should have communicated and/or worked with the London team to make sure that BOTH updates could have been coordinated. This last part is why I made my negative comments about Bethesda below. I just want them to respect and support the moders who love their games so much that they sacrifice so much time and effort just for that love.

I mean, we all knew this would happen. We knew the update was coming(Likely around the time the show comes out), and we knew Fallout London(and most other mods) would break when it did. At least now, the Fallout London team can update the mod when the update comes and not have it immediately be broken. I'm sure there are also a few other things they might not have had time to fix or add that they now do thanks to the delay. I do think they should have told us the release date for the update sooner.

Biggest problem I see is that unless they have two branch versions, original and one with the update, it'll suck. A lot of ppl like myself don't plan on updating for a long time, cause the nothing burger of changes will do more harm to mods I wanna keep

Good morning to you Lone. I saw this alert before I go to sleep. I'll wait to update Fallout 4 until Fallout London is ready. I've been running the same mods for 2 years. Maybe I'll play Vanilla again on Game Pass after the Next-Gen update.

The Nexus Mods thing also took me by surprise but Prilla said the current version of the mod is between 30 and 40Gb of size so... yeah, I can't think of any mod on Nexus which is that big...

I was really looking forward to it, I saw their video earlier before I had lunch, there's people saying it's the devs behind Fallout London's fault, they were gonna launch it just before Bethesda's Update, but the Fallout London team has had no word from Bethesda, and the update has caused them to have to fix a lot and they have a separate team from them that they have to wait for. It's a free mod as far as I know, I don't get why people are mad at them. If it comes out it comes out, if it doesn't - that's sad news. If Nexus can't host the size it may be bigger than ss2 stuff, maybe the size of a wabbajack collection, which I have trouble installing...

I really hope that the installer will work on the steam deck or that they eventually get a stand alone version because that will be easy to get running on it. But modding on the steam deck can be pretty tricky because the file explorer is so different and files are in different locations. I do not have a gaming pc anymore and only have a steam deck. Im not planning on being able to play london, at least for a while… but im still crossing my fingers that we can find a way to get it installed quickly and easily 😭

After the fallout 4 next gen update there will be ton of more ones fixing stuff. This fallout london expansion will be broken constantly unless you dont update your game. PD: is cute that people think that this update will improve ton of performance issues. We are talking of Bethesda here.

I hate they are updating the game. It will break SO MANY mods that people will have to wait days if not weeks or months in order for them to work again properly.

I can't really get behind the narrative of: this update will make fallout 4 work better. This is BGS we are talking about, there's absolutely no guarantee that the new update will make the game more stable, in fact it could well be the opposite at launch. Similar thing happened with the latest Skyrim update, meaning they had to update the update twice just to be back on square one... Also, Bethesda is very careful with what they say, and the announcement of the next gen update doesn't mention the new Creations marketplace being added. If they don't add that I'm going to say that there's a near 100% chance of FO4 updating again sometime this year, thus breaking things all over again. I understand why this update is almost necessary for console players, but BGS (as always) is alienating q lot of their PC community with this move, specially those of use who use mods.

To me it a good decision on Team even tho many fans of project are upset about cuz of the next-gen heck am a bit mad that BGS is releasing 48 hrs after Fallout London as I see the announcement video it way that can push the engine harder have the best performance possible now am hoping they would make a separate mod game like one for regular Fallout 4 and one for the next-gen that is what am hoping and hope that is the case but will just have to see when we get to the Gap of this matter.

I’m also with the crowd that it should be delayed so the script extender works, we shouldn’t have to force inexperienced modders to roll back the update. Not everyone is willing to learn how and honestly it would be a PR disaster for the mod.

So we accept lazynes and stupidy, gamers are not stupid and the want that known what mods are and how to install them know more then common gamers and they can handle blocking auto updates and stuff to handle running London.. And i bet no one have insterest in next gen update that do almost nothing we cant add before with mods. I know we’re not really surprised. Basically they built the game on a version that’s not going to actually exist in a couple of weeks. And you can’t help but think they knew this was gonna happen at some point, but I’m pretty sure like everybody else they had no idea they didn’t at least have a year or two before that Game was actually updated. I mean it was literally a surprise to everyone. But I can only imagine these guys working on this in just that little thought in the back of everybody’s head that you know they’re gonna update fallout and that’s gonna cost us a lot of work, and we don’t know when that’s coming. And that’s gotta be uneasy for them. I can actually see a lot of people not updating the game just to play fall out London. I don’t know if that’s even possible once the update comes out but boy that’s gonna suck for these guys. I don’t know anything about what it takes to update fallout London.hopefully Bethesda is kind to these people. Because they deserve every bit of kindness from Bethesda. This is a group that’s literally created for free. Somethings that they’re technically giving to Bethesda. And they need to be thankful and they need to be happy and they need to give these guys all the support that they can. I hope they do.

I just dont agree, Devs do this all the time with online games, its called a test server, its optional to download the non updated version for those of us who are ready to try it out; you wanna wait? Then wait atleast we have a choice this way The same ammount of people will play, weve been waiting for it and anticipating its greatness for years. You really think were just not gonna play because you release a non updated version? Thats just nonsense.

I need to know what constitutes a "Next Gen PC" for the core game to work, will it mean I cannot play the game anymore because I do not have the most trendy most cool, gaming PC as per the coolest gaming streamers and whatever is "best" in 2023/2024. so I am concerned that Bethesda/Microsoft are going to push the game into the highest end of PC's maybe they won't but maybe they will and so yeah. Not hating on the NextGen update this is good, I would love for Fallout 3 and NV to receive the same treatment. I just need to know what new system specs are going to be.

It's a real shame about the timing but better that it should launch in the best possible state. I am happy to wait and I am excited to play it when it is finally available.

I feel like Bethesda timed this on purpose. Todd is so piss sacred of getting shown up again (Obsidian) that he waited for them to give a release date and through out what I am guessing will end up being a majorily underwhelming update with a few bugs fixes that had been fixed a half decade ago by modders just to break a mod that would have shown him and his team have fallen off and need to pass the torch to the next generation of programmers and designers who are now better than them at producing things just ussing spare time as a hobby. I am tired of all these big companies in every market producing crappy products and treating customers and fans like the enemy to be destroyed. I may be wrong, but due to how Bethesda has been lately with Starfield all everything this is how I am feeling about this. Very let down about what they are telling me the update is, and let down about the Fallout London delay.

I have to admit that I had predicted that the Script Extender would be included in Starfield, so that more mods would have been possible in XBox, etc. It would also reduce stuff like this. Yeah, most of my Starfield predictions were wrong. It's too bad.

They should have just did an Enderal a lot of TC's really should. Seeing as Enderal did not have to update when the main game did.

You'd think a company that has so many plans to capitalize on their modding community (that works for free, mind you) would find ways to minimalize these situations for them. The modders here did their best to create something with a fun and unique release date, only for BGS to release their, now 2 years late, next-gen update with no warning or communication whatsoever. I find it hard to support BGS these days.

Why is this matter being made such a big deal again?! In the last 13 years I've probably re-downloaded the Scrip Extender 50 times (for various BGS games) because the games got an update and my mods no longer worked. WHY is this suddenly a “big problem” and “sad news”?! The Script Extender gets an update and that's it. Then all the mods will work again, including Fallout London.

This is a bummer--I'd have to run a whole separate install of FO4 because I'll be gods damned if I'm going to update and nuke every single inch of my complicated-but-working load order. Bethesda are crap at working on their own games, their "updates" are always many days late and most dollars short AND they often break stuff whilst leaving years-old issues untouched. Suffice to say, I don't trust BGS not to fuck this up. Go ahead and surprise me, Todd--bet you don't, though.

You said Fallout and GOG in the same sentence. I haven't hit up the GOG website so fast before. And Fallout 3, 4, and New Vegas are all on sale right now too so double yay! As for Bethesda, I wish they'd stop tinkering with their old games and just focus on working on the next TES game. I picked up Skyrim SE on GOG because I got tired of dealing with the constant updates and mods breaking on Steam. If I want to play whack a mole with mods, I get plenty of that with Valheim. :D

I've been holding off playing America Rising 2 and Sim Settlements 2 because of the remaster/update. I didn't think about it for FO London, but it makes total sense. The problem is that BGS will surely require a few updates. The good news is that the new update will support 21:9 ultrawide, which is a bitch to use on FO4 as it is. Skyrim works flawlessly on ultrawide, so I'm happy for this. There's are few better ways to play FPS games, pulls you right in. BGS should have worked with them. Not only do we get a remaster, but a brand new game in a franchise that's incredibly hot right now.

I agree it can be hazard but blocking updates is one click. However I agree about the update. I want to play it. I want to see the official bug fixes and improvements. And it will make F:L even better!

Is Fallout London a mod for PC only?

FOLON should have put out a 2 min vid showing how to disable updates in Steam and released on the 23rd. The update doesn't just effect F4SE, what about Looksmenu, MCM etc etc. Also, how does this GOG launcher work exactly with FOLON? I'm not updating my F4, got far too many great older mods that are no longer supported. I love what the FOLON team have done, but the way I will make it work is setting up a new user account and email on my pc and buy F4 GOTY on GOG and then play FOLON on there.

Not releasing on St. George's day isn't really a problem. Despite the devotion that our most hardcore nationalist xenophobes have for him, he doesn't actually have any relevance to England at all. He was born in Cappadocia (now part of Turkey), became an officer in the Roman army, never set foot in the UK and was buried in Palestine though the area has since been capture by Israel.

I'm disappointed that BGS has not worked with Fallout London to make it standalone. Frankly, I really wish that someone could reach out to BGS to get that to happen. Maybe a petition? It's just disappointing that Bethesda wouldn't support Fallout London, which is promoting their game.

Bethesda just being dicks to the modding community as usual. Other studios would have a Beta period of two or three weeks allowing mods to be updated before the public launch of major updates. Also makes it less appealing to play Fallout London, if that means updating to a version of FO4 that breaks your main modlist. If/when the next gen update turns out to be as much of a waste of time for PC as the High Resolution DLC, and just a cash grab, I won't be at all surprised.

The only thing I'm hoping for is Fallout London to be playable on both current version and with the next gen update. The F4 update was something great coming from Bethesda, unfortunately I play with so many mods that are surely discontinued and won't work with the update, so I can't move on the update, but still wish to be able to play FLondon.

Another PC exclusive, so PS4/5 gamers are stuffed again. Also, Bethesda needs to make CUSA 02962 and CUSA 02961 saves compatible in their update. I finished Fallout 4 disc version, bought Fallout 4 digital version, and have to start all over again. Infuriating, and not fair. They want Fallout London to be played by as many people as possible? Then release it for consoles, designed for playing games. Not crappy PCs. :p

As a console pleb, I won't be able to play Fallout London, but the next gen update will be a massive overhaul for my Series S when playing Fallout 4. A delay game is a good game, a unfinished game is a bad game.

Bethesda just doesn't respect the modding community period. Not only they're trying to make money off of their creations, they barely compensate them for it and now when one of the most anticipated mods is about to drop they release their mediocre update that won't even fix the FPS tied to the game's speed bug which is 100% going to break everything. If Bethesda gave a molecule of care they would've at least communicate with FOLON Team but no, screw them and screw the modding community as a whole. Because it's not like the modding community keeps their games alive for way longer than they have any right to be, right? At least they should've released the next gen update BEFORE London so the community had time to update the script extender but no, Beth just had to be pety and release it after London's planned release date.

Script extenders have been around for a LONG time, and game updatea breaking them isn't news. BGS can't claim ignorance or "woopsie daisy" here. Do they reserve the right to update their games? Absolutely. However, it's quite clear that Bethesda really only cares about mods that only do surface level stuff. Mods that require script extenders "conveniently" are very rarely mentioned by them publically. Sure, there's exceptions like working with the script extender team in the past, but if memory serves right, it still had issues, and then BGS STILL put out a random update shortly after out of the blue. BGS claims they support amd embrace modding, but their actions show they prioritize many other things above that, and could not care less about the more in depth mods that break every time they do this.

Yet again, Bethesda does something tone def and stupid that hurts the players and the moders that make up their community. Now I have to wait to play what I was excited for due to worthless garbage that they are insultingly calling a next gen update. I could not care less about this trash update. I wanted to play London. Let's also not forget the possibility that Bethesda, because of its recent history of very poor work, may break more than they fix with this "update". I think your hopes of a better running game on the PC is a pipe dream as they barely even mentioned the PC when talking about the update. It was an afterthought.

Use some common sense dude, They just needed more time to polish up the mod, and didn't want to admit it was on them. No one is going to be using the update anyways, we'll all be back patching for at least a few weeks/months while mods are updated. I'm fine with Bethesda being scape goats though, they deserve it given their behavior over the last few years.

Let's be honest this isn't really about getting a next-gen update to players on Bethesda's part, it's about updating the Creation Club to maybe generate more money on the game and capitalizing on the Fallout tv series, which isn't inherently wrong but Bethesda has had years to do this and keep pushing it back. And if the script extender team wasn't doing what they do, Fallout 4, Fallout 3 and FNV would have been forgotten long ago as mods are really the only thing keeping the Fallout franchise alive after all this time.

How 'bout that Fallout 4 fake-gen update?! Instead of playing a whole new game why not play the same old one with ultra-wide support and a few tacked on items that you wouldn't bother to download for free from the Nexus. WEEOO!

I don’t understand the hype around mods. Sure mods like Fallout London is appreciated but others that just significantly change the game core mechanics and graphics is just awful. Vanilla is always better in my opinion.

A lot of people bought fallout 4 just for this mod but the fact bethesda hasn't even been talking to the modders at all is so damn stupid, they are just giving more reasons to hate bethesda, and plus some of there new employees are from that very same project. The mismanagement, bad leadership and the lack of engagement with modders is serious considering with the future of modding for fallout, Skyrim, or even Starfield.

I'm on PS5, for me there are no negatives. My game is finnaly gonna be good again!!
