Fallout: New Vegas - The Worst Courier 

Please Jon, do every skill check you can so you fail them. There's sometimes great dialogue resulting from them, but because NV does show you whether you meet the requirement, there's a lot of lines I assume not many people know.

About the Lone Wolf Radio urban legend: In the New California mod there's the radio station DETH98.1, hosted by a particularly brutal raider named Terror Max. They have a set of segments called "Wait Wait Don't Shoot Me!" where Terror Max tortures and kills an NCR General named O'Neill. The wiki says the station is a nod to 1950s era pirate radio stations, but now I have to wonder if it was partly inspired by the story about Lone Wolf Radio.

Ah, Lone Wolf Radio brings back memories, i use it a lot as player housing, a bed, container that doesnt lose your items, it was great... now you are making me wanna replay fallout new vegas

I literally just started playing a character like this. I wanted to take all the worst decisions possible, to set the stage for a DUST playthrough. Murder goodsprings, nuke everyone, leave Vegas in anarchy, destroy Hoover Dam, so on. It's the first time I haven't been able to pass skill checks in this game.

This may be the worst courier, but this will be the best series

The reference to the trailer full of radios, and the person the dev was speaking about, is Ephraim Stoltzfus, or so I've heard. He's an ex-Amish who started his own church, and in the late 2000's into the 2010's, he drove around spreading his ministry. He would've started his ministry about two to three years before New Vegas' release, and he was known to drive around university and college campuses up and down the East Coast, blaring his religious message from a van rigged with loudspeakers. He actually drove through my neighborhood a couple times when I was in college in Philadelphia 2009-2012, and it made me think of "The Worm!" guy from Fallout 3. There's two documentaries about him, "Trouble in Amish Paradise", and "Leaving Amish Paradise."

Not sure what's my favorite part, the doom scorpion you brought in, or the teleporting outhouses.

With the Lone Wolf radio station - is 'Lone Wolf', a reference to 'Three-Dog'. Also you find there a Wasteland Survival Guide, something that comes from the Capital Wasteland. Was the station supposed to have some connection to the world of Fallout 3.

So much of this reminds me of my first New Vegas playthrough. Found Lone Wolf Radio, hunted down some skill books, accidentally lead a cazador into Goodsprings with nothing but a kitchen knife to fight it with... ah, memories.

you can actually complete i fought the law while vilified by the powder gangers. if you can sneak/ run up to eddie before he sees through your disguise and turns hostile you can talk to him and he'll give you the quest. you'll have to eat a few bullets running out the building and repeat the trick when you need to report back to him.

This is actually hilarious. I haven't played New Vegas in several years and rarely has a challenge video ever made me feel compelled to try it out. This though? Its just comical because he is so right. The game just doesn't expect you to have this terrible of a character and I don't think I even realized that agility affected base weapon draw and reload speeds.

To be fair to Useless Steve, ANY Courier could have doomed Goodsprings via Giant Scorpion. In fact, I might just do a new run so I can do exactly that.

There's actually some beautiful irony about Lone Wolf Radio being an homage to a random conspiracy theorist...which then spawned urban legends and conspiracy theories of its own.

I would've liked to see Jon test whether or not he could actually accept I fought the Law since the quest giver was not marked as hostile.

A Nice touch in this game would be that you can not earn skill points from books and magazines when you have low Intelligence. Like INT 3 or less makes you illiterate, which would make sense in a Post Apocalypse.

Reminds me of one of old challenge runs for Fallout 1 or 2, the "child" run. Basically the same rules with optional change of character skin to a child.

I would actually like to see this run played with the worst level ups as well. Boost those dump skills! Take those quirky perks! Make the entire run a series of poor career choices.

I feel like intelligence would've been a better place to put the IT point because it would've meant 2 extra skill points total which could be really good at low levels considering your situation. That is assuming you'll take intelligence with your next perk.

Jon, you should keep a pair of Intelligence clothing for when you are turning in quests you know you have the stat requirements otherwise to pass. So when you level up you get the skill points. Or does that not work?

You can actually rack up a lot of xp disarming the mines in the early game. There are a TON of mines around those areas.

The takeaway here is that Jon is good enough at the game that even the worst character is still good enough

I had this happen once, random ass giant radscorpion in the middle of Goodsprings, not even really using the cemetery that time. I think I got it to despawn by waiting, like, a week or something.

.....WHAT.....how the fuck did I not know about the outhouse in the NCR CF? I have literally almost 1400 hours in FONV. Just what the ever loving fuck!? I always use the reload dash glitch to get in when I wanna avoid a fight.

petition to have Useless steve be too stupid to use vats. It sorta feels like vats is still op enough to overcome the disadvantages of combat

Shoulda taken the 2 worst traits instead of no traits. Not sure what those would be but you could figure it out.

What about a character who is shitty because of poor ability or skill distribution, but within the legal bounds of character generation? I've occasionally done this in the earlier Fallout games, just to see if it could be done. I once did manage to beat Fallout 1 with a character who had Agility and Perception scores of 1. In order to compensate, I gave him high Intelligence, Charisma, and Luck scores. And he had the fortune of finding the alien blaster early on from a random encounter while travelling south from Shady Sands. So while combat was still a huge hassle, this character was not hopeless, and I ended up finishing the game with him.

This would be fun in old world blues
