Just one question: where is Shady Sands? Fallout 1 & 2 have it hundreds of miles north of the Boneyard (LA). The show seems to show that the Shady Sands that was nuked was in Los Angeles itself or somewhere nearby. Was Shady Sands moved from its original location between Fallout 2 and the show? Or is this a straight retcon?

The Fall of Shady Sands occurring in 2277 lines up with the First Battle of the Hoover Dam, so it looks like that year, and that battle was the beginning of the downfall of the NCR. The nuking of Shady Sands was clearly after the events of New Vegas. It’s not a retcon. It’s continuing the story in a unique and interesting way

Maximus is like 6 when Shady sands is blown up. Assuming the explosion happened in 2282, right after New Vegas, that would make him arround 20 since the show takes place in 2296, so 14 years after that. Makes sense.

Alot of debate for a chalkboard image. My best guess is that they wanted to keep the date of the bomb vague so instead of giving a proper date with event they just used a mushroom cloud. In the video Todd says 'sometime after New Vegas' so even he doesn't know the date (or he might not know when New Vegas takes place). As for the Fall of 77 could mean anything. Hopeville did get blown up. The was the First Battle of Hoover Dam which the NCR won, but led to more fighting with the Legion. Or maybe it's an event that they want to explain in season 2. If it does turn out to be a mistake date then they left themselves enough wiggle room to get out of it.

The 1st battle of Hoover Dam was in 2277. Most likely, Josua managed to capture shady sands using a small legion force while the NCR was busy protectong the dam. However, the NCR whiped the floor with legion, so Shady Sands was probably captured for a very small amount of time.

Even if the nuke happened after the events of FNV and is a seperate event from the Fall of Shady Sands I'm pretty sure some of the characters in FNV would've mentioned something about it in the game if the capital had already fallen.. No one did though. So, it still seems like an inconsistency to me.
