Hi Lori! I love all your videos so much, especially the adorable part about the bees falling asleep :) I noticed you have cardinal flowers in your garden, would you recommend cutting those back at all, or do you let them grow wild year-to-year with no pruning? Mine grew rather leggy with fewer blooms and I'm wondering if it might be worth cutting the stalks back to above the rosette of leaves.
Cardinal flowers are hit or miss with me. I have found that each plant is really a biennial - for me at least, so I let it self seed to grow new plants. I would leave some stalks so you get the seeds. Also, I think the cardinal flowers need more sun. They are supposed to do well in shade as well, but I found those I had in the shadier bed were much more leggy with less blooms. I am trying 2 new spots for the cardinal flowers this year, in the new pollinator bed and in the bed by my bird feeders (which I hope to get a video out for soon). Lori
