Day 2 of my Lanzarote hanggliding trip and preparation for the competition. A magical flight over the stunning cliffs of Famara. Glider rented from / hanggliderlanzarote
Forgot to add that watching you leaving the last LZ (Famara beach) and going to the Northern tip was pretty excruciating, my hear was beating almost like I was there, but the constant beep in the vario kept tranquilizing the privileged spectators! Well done!
Hey Darren , so I got my hanglider pilot licence, woo!!! whooo!!! Now I have to do my 100 hours with my beginner glider, so the faster I knock that of ,the quicker I will be flying with you woo!!! Whoo!! Nothing like 2 crazy guys in the sky LOL, and way chiping away at my goal to finally do pro comp , and I'm very determined, any way keep going with your amazing inspirational videos as they are amazing and very encouraging, cheers mate 👍
Nice one Tom - well done on getting your licence!!!! That's brilliant. Where do you fly? And what glider are you flying? Don't focus on doing 100 hours - focus on enjoying every flight. And each time you fly, set a goal. Like - today I will practice thermalling or today I will do 10 top landings or whatever. It's more fun and you progress faster. Perhaps you could show us YOUR flying on video?
Hi Darren 👋, Thank you soo much for your videos!. ❤, You are keeping my flying spirit, still up!, despite that I am stil 11 000 km away from my two brand new unflown gliders, that I pray that God will reunite me again with 🙌, so that I may reach for the skies again as before my huge schooter accident, where God spared my life Supernaturally and by His Huge Grace, He repaired me again✝️, Glory To Him in the Highest !!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Hi Darren; That´s a nice Famara flight! I really enyoyed it. I flew there in octobre with Johnny and we got on top of the clouds, but not that far because of the wind coming more from the south. A good Lanzarote trip for me this year and one of my two goals is to land on the beach of Famara. The other one is the beach of Mala where you have the splendid restaurant with cold beers and fish dishes. I managed to do both. I am looking forward to see more updates from the competition now. Good Luck!
Thank you! It was maybe my most enjoyable Famara flight. As for the beach - I landed on Famara beach yesterday. No video though because it wasn't a spectacular flight or anything. Today we go to Mala...
@@MooSurfer That hexagonal Sun Simulator actuslly looks ghhhhaaaaastly compared to the long gone real Sun. Surely you've noticed the horrible cold blue light it emits since you're well old enough to remember the golden real Sun. You'll notice on a hazy/misty day the Simulator has splayed rays, confirming it's low altitude
I saw You doing that Island hopping to Graciosa, I was at the tip of Mirador in 850 meters under the cloadbase when You set off. Very nice video btw :-)
@@MooSurfer Well… when seeing 10 comp pilots land at Risco beach and had to be picked up by SeaTaxi boat then beeing conservative there is not wrong 😊. Btw - we are looking forward to see Your narrated video from that boat rescue day to see what went on in the air between the comp pilots when the whole gaggle were caught by calming down wind there. That will be a fun one 🤣
"Are you a risk-taker?" You realize you are asking this 2700Ft in the air being kept there by a glorified bead-sheet and a few pipes... 🤔? risk-taker? Great flying site, I had to find in on maps, not many Aussies go there. Congratulations on the island hoping 😎👍
Hey Darren, Great video! I’m up in Alaska and after watching your video I gotta get down to Lanzarote! Come up to Alaska during our Summer and fly our well kept secret site Eagle Summit! It’s just below the Arctic Circle and you can fly it 24 hours a day during the Summer. My hang buddies son posted a few vids on RU-vid of the site. If you want to check them out just search hang gliding eagle summit Alaska. Anyhow, if you’re ever up here in Summer we would be more than happy to have you come up there with us! Later, Ben in Alaska
Thanks Ben! I would love to come some time. It sounds rather like when I went to Norway last year. Although the weather wasn't great a lot of the time. What's the weather like in terms of predictability? I'll check out that RU-vid...
That is the vario - the instrument on the left of me. It has a gps in it, also pressure sensors.. it gives a lot of information about where I am, where I need to go and so on. The beeping it makes signifies when I am going up. The faster it beeps, the faster I am going up. This enables me to find the centre of a thermal and turn tightly in it to utilise the strongest lift.
