Another quick overnight backpacking trip at Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, TX. On this trip we were able to take a dip in the Paluxy before we hiked on to North Primitive Campsite 4. We hiked up the Denio Creek trail which is one of my favorites at the park. The next morning we hiked back on the Buckeye Trail, which I haven't been on in a while. This is our last backpacking trip for a while. We have a big car camping trip around the SE United States coming up in June. So stay tuned for videos of some state highpoints and National Parks!

It’s great that your family realizes the importance of these outdoor early years that is making a lasting impression on your boys. Thanks for taking the time and effort to help them invest in the outdoors! - Also, You would love South Llano River State Park near Junction.

We have been to South Llano River SP about 5 years ago. It was in fall and both of my boys ended up getting sick. So we'd definitely love to go back. We'd love to spend time in the river and hiking some of the longer trails. Thanks a lot for watching, Rick!

As always, thanks for watching, Jeff. I think we all enjoy getting out on these short trips. We're really looking forward to our long road trip in a few weeks. I'm just hoping gas prices will slow down a bit.

@@CameronHall88 We will be headed out on a two week road trip to New Mexico, Arizona and California (Yosemite) in about a week. Paying for fuel will be painful.

Nice! You’re making great memories for your children.👍 I remember going on an exploration trip with my dad in the mid 1960’s to visit the tracks before it was a state park. It was private ranch land and dad knew one of the ranchers and we got a private tour. With the exception of the locals, not many knew about the tracks. Good memories of times growing up.

Another fun trip in the books!!! Loved watching the family just having fun and chilling!! Can't wait to see your Smoky Mountain videos!! We love the Smoky Mountains!! If you like history and have time, you should definitely check out Cades Cove!!! It's quite amazing and you are almost sure to see a bear or two in that area! Have fun!!

May do this same overnight trip once this heat spell breaks (hopefully/wishfully.) I did BCV/Limestone Ledge the other night and it was 94 degrees. We're lucky to have this great park nearby!

Yeah, you're right. Not that I'd call North Texas a hiking or backpacking hotspot, but we happen to live right next to quite a few good parks. We are pretty luck.

Nice!!! Is Dinosaur Valley State Park your go-to Park? My go-to Park is Lost Maples State Natural Area.

For backpacking, yeah. Just because it's the closest place to me. But we're lucky that it's also a pretty good trail system. You're lucky to have such a nice place to hike down around you as well.

@@CameronHall88 Lost Maples has some really nice trails as well. Most of the time it's not very busy except in the fall.
