"I got cold before we turned on the warm blanket..." This has been a concern for me. We're camping end of September and early October for 9 nights. And unfortunately during the el nino cycle it's cold. And I bought a coleman weathermaster 6 person tent so the roof is mesh. Even with sealing the seams and waterproofing the walls that mesh remains a problem. So I'm gonna put a 9 x 6 tarp between the rainfly and the mesh. With another light weight tent tarp over most of the tent because I know it's gonna rain. With a heater and a heated blanket. I like redundancy 😅 I figured if all of that goes wrong it's a sign from heaven that we're not supposed to be there!

It's so crazy here in TN, normally the humidity is so bad you can't stand to go outside but here it is the middle of July and I had the heat on in my car on the way home because it was 68°. It's been so cool at night on the lake that I've only had to use a very small fan.

As far as taking kids camping goes that seems like it was on the more pleasant side. I usually seem to have an easier time with it when it's just me and the kids. I swear they behave worse when my wife is there haha.

Great family times and memories. I like tent camping but you need cots or blow up bed and heat for when it gets cold. I just got a disc-o-bed for my kids to sleep in, it’s basically cot bunk bends that can also convert into a couch. Also just got a walmart wall tent for the months that it gets cold at night, it has a stove jack for the wood stove i bought. It’s almost impossible to heat regular tents that have mesh tops and thin material, they’re best for summer when it doesn’t get below 60 degrees at night.

@@BrianWatersOutdoors they’re pretty cool, got them on Amazon, not cheap but they’re very solidly built and pack up pretty small, I also go the feet for them to make them a bit more stable and you can get an extension kit that adds about 7” more space between the bunks, can also use them independently, it gives you a lot more space in the tent.

Take her to a honey farm and let them teach her all about honey. Let her see people working with bees and they may even have kid sized suits for them to wear and get close. And backyard camp with her. You can work her through that if you're willing to be patient. If she learns to be as still as a statue she'll be fine. A bee was too close to my own son so I provoked it to draw it away and it was mad so I shut my eyes and calmly said the Lord's prayer and when I opened my eyes it was gone.

I use a 16 by 16 3 room tent with changing room in one section husband and I in the orher section and 2 dog cots with 2 GSD's in the other❤️ Powerstations are essential for us for a week cause we use a non electric site.
