Family claims NYC funeral home did not properly preserve woman's body 

You can tell this young lady take pride in her appearance and the funeral home disrespect her like this . So sorry for the family

Y'all wild. Proper embalming and storage would have had this woman presentable for viewing. My elderly aunt died on May 3rd; she was embalmed and properly stored. Then her remains were flown from NC to MD, where she was properly stored again and her funeral was held on May 19... open casket, CLEAN white dress... she looked sleep and at peace. Embalming literally took off in popularity after the Civil War when soldiers had to be embalmed and shipped across states over serval days. Preservation of the body is WHY they were embalmed. This case is negligence. STOP with the "too much time passed". LIES!!!!!!!!

My family owns a chain of funeral homes and this is definitely negligence on the funeral homes behalf. Most likely the body was kept in a non refrigerated or malfunctioning refrigerated body preserver. Dignity for those that pass is what these places are expected to provide, that funeral home failed.

Taking care of a body is in its own way an honor. Insane how people get themselves in such avoidable position. Regardless of what her earthly body look like, she's still beautiful. RIP Regina

I work for a Funeral Home and WE would never disrespect someone like this young lady was disrespected. This is so heartless and sickening, the funeral home employees should've kept a check on the body!!!!!

So sad. She died in her sleep. Life is so fleeting. The funeral home, I can’t help but wonder, left her body out in the heat instead of immediately embalming and/ or refrigerating. My condolences 💐 to her family.

I hope they win! That funeral home had one job and that was to persevere her remains and have it look presentable to her loved ones at her funeral before her burial. My condolences goes out to her family, nobody deserves this.

There’s no excuse for the way she turned out. When covid happened & my aunt passed we had to wait almost 3 weeks before we could have a funeral , her body was well kept& she still looked like herself . I say all that to say the funeral home probably did not do a good job preserving the body. My heart goes out the family

IT DEFINITELY HAPPENED IN THE CARE OF THE FUNERAL HOME.... IN A DIFFERENT NEWS REPORT THE LAWYER SAID THE FUNERAL HOME GOT THE BODY 2 DAYS AFTER SHE PASSED... THEN THE FUNERAL HOME CLAIMS IT WAS 4 DAYS. .... THE BODY TAG SHOULD HAVE DATES AND SO WILL THE PICK UP PAPERWORK.... SO SOMEONE IS LYING AND THIS IS HORRIFIC....

I dunno at that point I would just say closed casket funeral. The last image I would want of a loved one is one of them in my mind and not of them decayed. She was young. My age. How common is it for ppl to just die in their sleep that young? But if there is a preferred way to go... that would be it.

This is all too familiar & something our family experienced with our 39 yr old dghtr. This happened in 2019 & the trauma of it all never goes away. I pray this family gets justice for the disrespect of their loved one's remains.

My father passed away from Lou Gehrig’s in 22’ and my sister passed in September 22’ so needless to say we were very “tender” My father’s service was very good and my sisters was, gut wrenching. A very large stitch was sticking out of my sister’s eye. She had bruises on her arms that they obviously couldn’t be bothered to make look skin toned. Her face and skin was very very white. My sister was a very beautiful woman and a very smart, funny character. Always came to my aid when we were in “the early years of school. She was 8 years older then me so I’ve always looked up to her. But this last memory had to be pulled from my head by going over photos and in memories in my mind. RIP, Chris I know you’re looking out for our father

If I didn't know any better Funeral cost can be over 10 k, and the family spent 6. So, just maybe they did the bare minimum due to the cost, which goes to show you that money is the root of all evil. This woman took pride in her looks and that's how they treated her. This is just sad.

There is no excuse for this. I have a friend who passed from Covid six months ago so it took some time for the body to be released to the funeral home. The service was held 6 weeks after she passed. When I viewed the body at the funeral, her body was in perfect condition. She looked like she was asleep.

No excuse! My grandfather's funeral was held a little bit over two weeks after he died and he looked fine. My family had viewing and open casket funeral with no problem. This is so horrifying. I feel sadness for this family.

I've seen the uncensored pictures..... y'all, words can't even convey how bad she looked. Severe skin slippage, liver mortis where the blood had settled, severe bloating, her eyes were completely sunken and a maggot was witnessed crawling from on socket....this is all just her face. Her body was just as bad I imagine. There's just no way they could ever deny responsibility or justify this, I'm telling you. This was a year ago, I'd like to know what's happening, if anything but I can't seem to find an update. If someone sees that and knows something, please comment and give me/us any updated info please.

My friend passed away and I didn’t know it was going to be an open casket funeral. My son walked in and immediately walked out, distressed. When I saw why, it was pretty bad. His face was green and sunken in and it was a terrible job done, for open casket viewing. After that, my son started having panic attacks and what the therapist called, an “existential crisis”. It was a hard year, already, with his death, when my son started experiencing that. He was 15, at the time. We were eventually able to get his panic attacks under control without medication but I can personally vouch for how traumatic it is to, not only see something like that, but to not be expecting it, either. We were, thankfully, able to say goodbye in the hospital so him sitting out the viewing wasn’t a big deal. For them, with a sudden death, they didn’t get that opportunity and it was ruined, when it should have been a moment for the family to come together and remember her and say goodbye. It would make me so upset to happen to a friend, let alone a child or grandchild. If the director didn’t have more compassion about it, they’re in the wrong business. Blaming the family for not seeing her first is an outrageous response to having plastic bags on her body, let alone visible.

I hope the family gets justice this is terrible

The funeral home messed up my grandmother as well. She had to have a closed casket. She made it to 96 and we didn’t get to see her. I’m so sorry for this family that’s terrible.

My condolences to the grieving family. In my country funerals usually keep two weeks or longer, like even two months after the person has passed away. Because they usually wait for family members to come from overseas to attend the funeral. And my country is a hot country all year round and the body would not be decomposing during the funeral. So 15 days is nothing for a body to be in their position and start to decompose they weren't maintaining the body that's all, the length of time is an excuse. They need to sue them for every penny that they have and that place needs to be shut down.

I came here from a different video where you could see the images better even through blur. The comments on that video were turned off. So I came here to say this is utter BS!! How can you put someone on display looking like that?! How can you confidently even do that? I would be embarrassed to do that as a funeral home. There is no way I would ever approve of an open casket like that. Or at least warn the family beforehand that things didn’t turn out as expected. The images were awful..
