Yes, this is his own family story. I say you should watch his reaction to the latest Em drop dissing Benzino. You will see the depths of Knox's bar knowledge
Few things: 1. I can't believe I want to dance the Rumba to tragic song about death 2. It is about his actual family. This was a way of processing his thoughts and emotions after a really rough time. 3. Samuel Perry Falvey did the video. SPF is the videographer legend for Ren. 4. Knox can catch bars. He is worth checking out 100%. 5. Thank you for your reaction!
The story in this song is crazy... and true! Knox has gone through a tough time recently with losing his grandfather, cousin and mother-in-law within a few weeks of each other and this song was one of his ways of coping. And the video is so creative. Another Sam Perry-Falvey masterpiece. Another great reaction ❤❤
This is definitely a different knox, but I personally Love it! It's the tragic truth about his family, and just lost his grandfather ( whom he was extremely tight with) He's really been struggling lately....amazingly he dropped a song right after that called " I need a minute". I think that His friendship with Ren is helping him through these tough times.❤ ***And yes,, that's Ren's videographer Sam, that filmed this video too. ✌️ Thanks again for all of your hard work. Much appreciated!
You should definitely check out his back catalogue. You'll find hip hop enshrined his music. He's just lately been trying different things, experimenting outside his comfort zone.
Knox is expanding his style now and he's connected with cinematographer Samuel Perry-Falvy who is able to work so well at realizing ideas. I have no idea where Knox will go next. I kinda love this new exploration because it's not the same as everything else.
Yeah this song was very different from Knox but it's so good. Fun beat but a dark topic. If you want another song that will get you in your feels a bit check out "I need a minute". He made that after his other grandfather passed away last year. He experienced a lot of loss in his family lately and I guess that's the reason he made this song.
This one is so good! Clever wordplay combined with real family stuff makes it so interesting! One of my favorites of Knox Hill is Long Way Home! Have a listen, it's so good! 😊
Knox has definitely been a lot more experimental since meeting Ren. I see a lot of Ren influences in this and The Pot. Especially the more upbeat music juxtaposed by the story. Something Ren is very good at. Also Sam filmed this and The Pot too 🖤
I am really enjoying these and would love to see more of your Knox journey. I referenced Killshot (remix) and Love is Blind on the last reaction. Songs like North Face, Gentrify the City, The Internet, and Not for Sale are also interesting insights into his social engagement and thoughts on the music industry, social justice, personal commentary. Do bring your bar catching brain with you in a whole lot of them.
He said these are true stories from his family. The dark storytelling juxtaposed with such catchy a bop is certainly a creative way to catch and keep my attention. "The Internet" is another one I would categorize as "different" but in a good way as well. I would also recommend his recent collab with fellow reactor/rapper Crypt called "Unbreakable", some might find the resilience theme cliche but I actually found it inspiring.
I think Ren gave him the confidence to do things he had wanted to do for a while. He saw an independent artist being successful despite breaking out of the industry standards and I think he felt like he could take a gamble. It's a lot scarier for him to break out of the box I think, because he has young kids to support. But it seems to have encouraged him to go for it.
I think he just can't take any type of criticism. But trying to start shit with reactors is just on a different level. One that I'm glad I'm nowhere near lol.
Others might have pointed out - you’ve picked 2 of Knox’s “experimental” / artistic tracks to do back to back. He does some much more “normal” tracks too and you should give some of those a shot too.
He’s a technical master - I think if I recall, he said that on one track, he was proud to have made a 15 syllable rhyme scheme for instance. I haven’t dived into much of his stuff yet, but enough to know he’s got other stuff I’m sure you would really appreciate.
