I thought me and my siblings were the only ones who knew about this show and it was some lost treasure. I remember this so vividly from around the time I was 5 years old. I can't believe how many people out there feel the exact same about the hard-core nostalgia this evokes!
I *love* this show ! I can still recite the Mom's diatribe by heart : ) "Do I have dreams? Do I have aspirations? No! But my toilet bowl is springtime fresh and I'm as pleased as punch to be playing short order cook to a dog!"
I actually had the game when I was little and recently rebought it today. I can’t believe someone developer thought it was worthwhile making a game based on a 10 episode series.
I got to say this episode at least succeeds in presenting a desperate presentation of a residential suburban hellscape, complete with disfunctional family Dynamics and passive aggressive abuse on all ends. I feel so bad for this poor dog..
Awww Poor dog 🐶 is so neglected 😆. I remembered this cartoon from when I was like 7-8 years old We had a few episodes recorded on a vhs 📼 tape and since then have always wondered what it’s called and if it was real!! So thanks it’s a vibe!!
I remember watching this as a teen with my brother and dad. The line, "Whoooaa! He's whizzing on the carpet!" Has stuck in my head for all these years. It was the funniest thing we'd ever seen in a cartoon, and none of us could believe what we were seeing. (That was pre-Simpsons, of course) I couldn't remember the name of the show, and Googled "He's whizzing on the carpet!" lol... that actually found it! :) :) :)
this show was buried so deep in my brain. I haven’t watched this since I was maybe 4-6. I feel so nostalgic watching it...It’s literally 2:30 am, I’ve been trying to find this/figure out what it’s called the past hour or so... so crazy to relive this episode.
I’m in a different dimension where Family Guy never existed, it’s always been Family Dog here. And although Dog looks like Brian, the mom looks like Lois, there’s a strange feeling about the dad, he’s def no Peter Griffin. But all their voices sound as if they’re done with A.I.
I played the SNES video game based on this series, and I was like "Wow, this is messed kinda messed up." Then I came and watched the show, and found out it was made by Tim Burton. Okay, now I see why!
Nowadays this seems kinda depressing... How these human characters are totally unaware of the dog's needs and the dog's body language is absurd. ;) So, it seems like the merit problem was depicted perfectly. :)
No wonder critics despised this… I know the goal was to be unlikeable on purpose but it’s not endearing enough to make me wanna keep watching. Decent animation, however.
Since the original short of this was 1987 Amazing Stories movie could Billy be the reference for Chucky he sure looks the part. Childs Play was released 1988.
I really wanted to know what's the music that plays on the TV at 6:42 I heard that same music on the Simpsons Tracey Ullman Short "Watching Television".
I arrived here through the internet rabbit-hole. I was listening to a 2001 song by the Gorillaz, a virtual anime band, and I decided to search the animator of those interesting band anime characters. The anime artists name is Jamie Hewlett, and his Wiki page mentions "Family Dog" animation as an early influence. So, I decided to find an episode of "Family Dog" since I had never actually watched one before. I can definitely see the similarity between "Billy Binsford" (the son) in this series, and the anime style of Hewlett for the band characters. Interesting evolution of cartoon/anime art work. Thanks for the upload.
I agree tom ! Someone should give him a space to call his own!! Lol........... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . see what i did there ...... Smh lol
Yeah its one of those shows you'd have to have grown up watching with the shit they have now robot chicken, family guy, brickle berry, south park etcetera,
@@SONPitbull1986 yea all those shows are old now.. but i don't think id like it back then. it's not my taste. more of a fan of stuff like rocko, ren and stimpy, angry beavers, etc from back then. not really a fan of the style but hey each their own.
i bet a lot of families, wrapped up in their own self centered lives, ignore their animals needs... the animals become another self serving possession. just to be clear: i don't think this makes them evil or bad people in any way though. this is just the new deal for our little friends. so instead of hunting for food and living with heart worms, they get to live healthily with us as long as we can cuddle them! :D
I only remember watching one episode of this show and it was when there house got robbed. I can't seem to find it but me and my best friend wore out the VHS tape watching it back in like 1987ish. Heres a clip of the episode. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rxhQJCn7fOo.html
I read about this show and looked it up. As a dog lover, breeder and exhibitor, and owner of two Miniature Bull Terriers I did not like it at all. The family’s callous treatment of the dog was awful. Maybe, I’m taking it too seriously.
