I ordered a 2022 Tucson Hybrid back in July 2022... 5 months later, it finally arrived but had magically transformed into a 2023 Tucson Hybrid. I got the Phantom Black exterior with all black interior, and it's an absolute dream to ride in and drive... I love my Tucson.

Was certain I would buy the new Honda CRV. Stopped by Hyundai to check out the Santa Cruz. While the dealer brought up the Santa Cruz my wife and I noticed the Tucson. Really impressive. After a quick test drive, we bought the Hyundai and never regretted it. My new Hyundai is probably the nicest vehicle I’ve ever owned. Makes me smile every time I drive it.

@@ashf9026 i bought a 2023 Tucson SEL AWD. Vehicle has been excellent until a few days ago. Received a notice from my phone that the battery was low. When I got home from work after being out of town, the vehicle started fine. Next morning was completely dead. Put it on charger and showed 0% battery life. Charged it and moved it into the driveway while mowing. Went to move it, dead again. Not even enough power to close the hatch. Taking it to dealership tomorrow to see what the problem is. Very frustrated. Brand new vehicle with 2044 miles shouldn’t strand me. Not happy.

I'm currently shopping both. As of November, 2022 the Kia is selling for at least $5K over MSRP. The Hyundai at or slightly below MSRP. That makes a huge difference in what are two very closely matched vehicles.

Lucky that I'm in an area where just about everything is selling at MSRP or slightly below. There were a couple dealerships a few months ago with a 2k markup, but they've since gotten rid of it. I do believe that supply is finally starting to catch up with demand and demand is probably slowing a bit.

We recently bought the 2022 Tucson AWD Limited and really love it. We had looked at both cars and it was a hard decision on which to pick. We liked the dash of the Sportage slightly better, but we liked the front end grill and lights, overall interior styling and heated rear seats of the Tucson better. What came down to the final decision was that every Kia dealership we went to wanted to charge us $4,000 above sticker price for the car, while we found a Hyundai dealership that sold us the Tucson for sticker price. $4K no-brainer. Both were really nice.

Just purchased the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited about a month ago. Really enjoy this crossover so much. Fun to drive, smooth feel, very quiet and plenty of room. The "no button" concept for the dash/control cluster takes a little getting use to, but once you do, its a breeze. Most all of the controls the driver needs is on the steering wheel anyway. Hyundai did a great job on this automobile. Just looks amazing, great design inside and out!

Agreed, my girlfriend is picking up her new tucson tomorrow. We test drove the x pro prestige, and to my surprise she didn't like it. Mainly for not having auto dimming mirrors and no heated rear seats. Plus she said it drives the same as her 2016 sportage. If your going to pay that much money she wants a better ride, and for her that was the tucson. I like the fact the tucson heated and ventilated seat button are accessible than the none hybrid sportage which uses the traditional shifter meaning you have reach on the other side to access the buttons.

I just bought a Tucson Blue with the tow package. Dealer initially tried to add a 20% FMA ($6800). I laughed and walked out the door. Sales guy flagged me down in the parking lot and agreed to sell at the $34k MSRP. As long as they were sold at MSRP, I could’ve maybe gone with either the Hyundai or Kia, but the Blue was sitting right there with my two prerequisites (a white exterior & the factory hitch receiver w/ wiring harness and plug). And in Texas, the Sportage Hybrid is in short supply. I like that AWD is standard on the Blue trim, with 17 inch wheels, and NO sunroof ( I live in the West Texas desert, and sunroofs are useless). I also noted that Consumer Reports currently ranks Tucson as the highest-rated hybrid in its class (93) vs. Sportage (75).

I've been looking at both of these vehicles for months. I really enjoyed this video. I will be purchasing the Tucson vs the Kia for various personal reasons but the top being that I hate black interior in cars...way too hot. The top of the line Kia Sportage SX Prestige only comes with black syntex seating (not leather). The Tucson Limited is available in soft gray leather but looks cream colored. Sit inside and drive both...the Tucson for me was much smoother and felt more comfortable.

The synthetic leather while it feels and looks like leather does not heat up or freeze like leather. Since it's literally not-leather, it does not have the same heat retention of leather... if you do some checking on how the synthetic leather used in car seats performs, you'll find it's really not any hotter or colder than going with cloth seats for "burning your buns" in summer. Having said that, I went with the Tucson as well... and I live in Florida and I opted for the all-black interior with H-Tex synthetic leather seats... no regrets here at all.

You should’ve added 0.5 points to the Sportage for having LED turn signal lights on the back compared to Tucson’s halogen bulbs. The Sportage also has it placed at a better viewing angle for the drivers behind… also, the back on the Tucson does have heated rear seats, which the Sportage should’ve had. However, you forgot to mention that the Sportage is the only one with USB-C connectors compare to Tucson only having USB-A connectors. Which means the back should’ve been tied both at 0.5.

Yes X and that's why the Kia should have 1 full added pt. The Led rr turn bulbs and they're placed in a safer position. I disagree that type of turn signal light source should be weighted so heavily. LED turn signals are not worth half of a point just because you *might* have to change a bulb in 12 years... I have a 2008 Pontiac with all halogen bulbs and haven't even had to change a headlamp bulb yet after 14 years, much less a turn signal which runs 1/100,000th of the time as my daytime running headlights.

Exterior design for both are subjective, but the interior is the place you spend 💯 percent of your time and that goes all the way to Sportage. Ergonomically, Sportage interior cabin (hybrid) is well laid out in comparison to Tucson.
@dominickwilliams3504
@dominickwilliams3504 2 года назад
I [honk the Tuscan is the airy more spacious feeling cabin. The Tuscan beltline , windows are larger and the cowl is lower for better vision. The Tuscan interior has better quality plastics, seats and real leather instead of the sticky plastic Kia seats. I really wanted to Buy the Sportage, but after being in both, the dull colored Tuscan interior and Fabolous warranty seals the deal if dealers wasn't padding the sale price by thousands $$$$

Great video but I feel like it's all super subjective. Compare your unique tallies below. Is the type of illumination used in the fog lamps (LED getting 0.5 point over halogen) really worth the same as real leather or rear heated seats? How often to buyers ask about fog lamp illumination technology as opposed to type of seat material? Below I've listed your unique tallies for each car and given an asterisk to those that I feel will only matter to a very small group of buyers. For example, I wouldn't want a red seat color in either car, so that half point is irrelevant. I also don't care about retractable cupholders, that's definitely fun but it's a gimmick you probably won't use much day to day, and certainly not worth a full point (half point for each cup location, I assume? More than generous to give it a half point for something so trivial, much less 1 point). For me the biggest thing is that Kia gets the bigger displays, that's the headline here and what might set it apart. The tradeoff is less premium features: no heated rear, fake leather, smaller wheels. Everything else listed is kind of a small deal. * = Isn't a significant enough feature to make or break the choice, and should be eliminated. If you take my prioritization, the Tucson actually wins by 0.5 points I believe. And note I'm not biased, I don't own either car nor do I own a Hyundai or Kia at all. Unique Sportage Points: *Red and Blue interior cabin color choices *LED fog lamps (vs Tucson halogen) Larger driver display Larger infotainment display *Foldable cupholders on center console (1 point - wow) 3D vehicle camera view $1,335 average MSRP lower Unique Tucson Points: Real leather Larger wheels 3 years complimentary maintenance *Sensors behind the door handle for unlock (Kia are visible on outside) Heated rear seats There may be other things unique to each car that I would have liked to hear about. What about seat comfort? Heated windshield? Solar and privacy glass? Suspension - they have to be tuned differently? Would recommend you guys make a checklist to standardize this comparison for the future, think about the important features to put head to head. But great video nonetheless!

Here in Australia, kia has a few more goodies up its sleeve, such as, 7yr unlimited km warranty, the sportage also benefits from a full Australian suspension tuning as we have alot of rough country roads, our road surfaces are well known to be some the harshest in the world. Personally, I'd sooner buy another sportage, before I would consider the Tuscon, not that the Tuscon is a bad car because it's certainly not.

The Hyundai had a little bit more extra features for the price point that wasn't even offered on the Kia so you get more of a deal with Hyundai. Overall looks I like the Hyundai. And Kia and Hyundai both had great looking interiors but Kia is a bit better. But the exterior look, goes to the Hyundai. I give the interior of Kia an 9 and the interior of the Hyundai a 8 but the exterior of Kia 7.5 and the exterior of Hyundai 9.. but overall they're both very beautiful vehicles.

This is a hard one I would have to choose the Tucson there's nothing bad about the Sportage. I am not a huge fan of the front or the grill on the Sportage one thing but maybe it will grow on me. What I do not like about the Tucson is the way they set up the fully digital gauge cluster I don't like that there's nothing covering it just looks like a heads up display and it's not well integrated into the dash and I don't like that it just sticks out like a heads up display one thing I love about this the Sportage is that they're actually using knobs instead of the stupid touch-sensitive buttons that would have been nice if they were all that way but that's okay but was Hyundai thinking about making all touch-sensitive buttons on the climate control and not even know there's not even a volume knob come on hyundai

The Toyota hybrids don't use a traditional CVT. The CVT transmissions that most people complain about(and are prone to failure) are ones like Nissan and Honda use. I own a shop and have seen multiple low mileage failures from both of them. Toyota/Lexus systems are pretty much bulletproof.

And dealership are don't give a damn about helping (I was able to get those OTD after pushing a lot, and I didn't get details about how that price is distributed). So I assumed 5K in markups).

Both are great choices, can't go wrong w/ either IMO. The leather seating and a bit more upscale feel tilted us toward the Tucson. I prefer the rear tail & front grill styling w/ the Tucson but the side profile of the Sportage. Wish they offered the Tucson Limited Hybrid in a FWD model too, AWD is nice but really not needed for the driving I do. Also wish the Tucson had the larger info screens that the Sportage does, so there's give and take w/ both models. IMO if you can find a dealer that's not screwing you over MSRP, then that would seal the deal regardless of Kia or Hyundai. And for those nicking the Tucson for a few LEDs that are missing, you can change the whole set of them for less than $10 and 15 minutes of your time.

I think that 1300 price difference is more than made up for by the 3 year maintenance plans. I'm not sure if the Kia has it, but the Tucson also carries a 10 year 100k mile warranty on the electric motor and battery pack, in addition to the 10Y/100K power train warranty.

By experience driving both Kia and Hyundai, Hyundai wins, but Kia wins on looks. Hyundai feels sturdier, smoother, and safe in comparison with the Kia when driving on freeway. However, don’t have experience driving these two newer models. Both excellent reliable choices CANT complain. Haven’t had expensive problem as of yet thnk god. I really like your reviews and all the information you include!! As a longtime Toyota owner I'm now looking at these two cars as the CVT is just too noisy! Got to test drive the new Corolla Cross Hybrid yesterday and while it was great, and much quieter than the RAV4, it's just too utilitarian for my tastes. I think these two are the way to go because they are quieter, more spacious, and don't have the CVT noise to contend with, and are cheaper! Looking forward to test driving the Sportage Hybird and PHEV. I loved the Tucson Hybrid!

What's more important to me is the Tuscon having a standard 6 speed transmission. The reason is that I noticed paddle shifters. While I wouldn't use them for up shifting, it is handy in the winter to immediately downshift without having to take your hands off the wheel. I had that on a Mitz Outlander and loved it. Always felt is was. a safer vehicle here in Iowa.

Tucson actually has gumption when you’re on the interstate or trying to merge. That’s a big reason I went with it. I also feel like the Tucson has a timeless look to the interior and that the Sportage is going to look outdated before it’s paid off (exterior is the complete opposite, though…sportage takes the cake there). Both great cars for the money!

Heh, great comparison as usual. Of course everyone should take the point scores with a grain of salt. For instance, I like that the Kia has smaller wheels, which would be cheaper to replace tires in the long run. Also , some of the measurements regarding the screens are not a deal to me at all, I wouldn't ding the Hyundai for it. One thing you didn't mention is the Kia has a spare tire, which is quite important to me -- like at least a point, since I'm not a fan of fix a flat kits. That also is probably why the Kia has slightly less overall cargo capacity, but well worth the tradeoff in my opinion.

Styling is subjective but the KIA wins hands down for me, front end is so much better and the rear takes its looks from the gorgeous EV6. The KIA’s interior is on point with the single wrap around console and sculptured vents, build quality on both is excellent. Here in the UK the KIA has a 7 year warranty compared to 5 years on the Hyundai (almost irrelevant if you have either on a PCP) but reflects on each manufacturer’s confidence in their product. The 6 speed DCT transmission in both compared to the competitions CVT drone is a game changer, put them in sport mode and use the paddle shifts and they come alive, 0 - 60mph in the Sportage is 7.7 sec, it puts a smile on my face. Yes I have a Sportage hybrid and have just ordered another for next month, the competition doesn’t come close at the moment, it’s a nice place to be 👌😉 averaging 38mpg combined and no range anxiety, hybrid is the way to go as far as I’m concerned
