It stopped being funny because Seth MacFarlane stepped down as the show runner in 2010 and just let's his writers do whatever they want over the last decade

Yeah Seth didn’t wanna do the show anymore. He was locked into this huge tv contract and wanted out a lot sooner than he thought because he had grown tired of doing the same show.

He was later convicted on charges relating to the murder. I think Family Guy was poking fun at how preposterous they think his defence was.

Off topic but spongebob used to be funny too. But since like 2011 all the episodes got super corny. But from 1999 to 2009, it was funny! Stuff just changes after a while i guess.
