This kind of stuff will keep happening because we don't hold companies responsible. All we can do is sue and that takes years and makes no changes to the main problem. Stolen car calls can be very dangerous. All the comments about life over property is just crazy its not just property it destroys people's life's to have property stolen.
I understand cops have a difficult job but they *_CHOSE_* to become cops and know the risk involved, why do they have to put lives on the line without confirmation of a crime or a weapon? There's zero FACTS that specifically say that these people are guilty of any crime yet they're put in _torture cuffs_ and technically arrested for a false report.. In "The Land of the Free" why are Americans treated like criminals? Why do cops portray Citizens as *The Enemy* when we're supposed to be the ones that Public Servants serve? Threatening to have a dog bite and possibly slaughter INNOCENT PEOPLE is absolutely SICKENING and DISGUSTING! Disrespectful to Real Heroes who paid the Ultimate Sacrifice to defend Our Rights just to have domestic t3rror1st treat We The People as criminals/the problem.. Republicans say they don't want "Big Government" yet they allow wide nets cast like Big Brother to watch Citizens as if we're being jailed/imprisoned.. Like we're all criminals and if you step out if line you're immediately jumped on and removed..
It might be the basis for a stop but clearly pointing weapons at the driver, when they complied with being pulled over like any other motorist would have, was well over blown.
This isn’t the fault of the AI or the cops this is 100% the rental car’s fault and mostly the budget ones thrifty/budget/dollar and so on. Coming from someone that rents car a lot for work and travel. These rental companies tend to rent to lower economic class people target market and they will automatically put your car down as stolen after one day of not returning it and use the cops as basically repo men for free. When they do recover the vehicle with out the cops they forget to return to tell the cops and the poor next person in that car gets treated like a criminal as shown. As far as the cop is concerned that car is stolen. These companies need to be sued for there action and they should not be reporting them as stolen but for late payments and send repos after them not the law. This would cost them money and that’s why they do it in the first place.
Whenever the police claim you don't need to record the interaction, because their body camera is on, don't blurt out Bull Spit. As long as their is an "active investigation" body camera footage won't be released, except by court order. Then someone told them they can charge you for the footage and edit out what they want for officer safety or confidential sources. This is why the blur the computer screens on all released video. The other thing that needs to change is that departmental issued cell phones should be required by law to recorded. They get around disclosing collusion by using a phone instead of the computer terminal or radio traffic.

Always record the police. I've got a 360 cam 4K w/ audio- and I'm glad I do. I've already instantly solved two interactions with police by putting them on notice they are being recorded and the camera is tamper-proof-- which it mostly is unless they want to tear the vehicle apart.
excellent point. No actual victim reporting an injury. Lest arrest the cops for fabricating evidence of a crime and lying to the court. Penal Code - PEN PART 2. The woman dispelled their suspicion immediately, yet they still locked her in a cage in cuffs and threatened to send a dog to maul other passengers at gunpoint. This has really gotten out of control.
Agreed! It was abundantly clear that this was a mistake, but not on this couple's part. Even though the rental company's attorney was technically correct that the couple could have cleared this up if they had presented paperwork, the whole thing could have been avoided if the car had not been reported as stolen!
In the eyes of cops and law enforcement, you are guilty until you PROVE yourself innocent. You are 'supposedly' innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. I say 'supposedly', because the cops and judges and the DAs, ALL go hand in hand. So good luck on trying to prove your innocence when the system is designed for you to fail.
RS exists. They had a report that the car was stolen, it's reasonable to assume it was. Fault lies with the rental company for not recinding the police report.
Hertz is currently settling a huge lawsuit with over 350 people that this happened to. When they can't find a car in their system they just automatically report it stolen.

The woman was so calm.they’d have been getting a verbal lashing from me. They clearly do this shit all the time. Isn’t it their duty to question such unlawful policy. The woman should not have been held in handcuffs like this.

Cops and properly trained civilians are taught to shoot at center mass. The torso. It is the biggest target and the easiest to hit.
I was taught this very same thing at the age of 10 by my father, who was a cop. At that age I knew how to load, aim, fire a gun, and how to disassemble it, clean it, and reassemble it. This was better than 50 years ago, way before the advent of cops in tactical gear and "officer safety" above all other considerations.
Right? After that civilized conversation in the back of the squad car, all while being handcuffed, logic dictates that she be promptly uncuffed. The police do not need to apologize quite yet...but, it is close!
The most surprising thing that I learned is that cops aren't even legally obligated to protect people. That obligation only applies when you're in their custody, but even that is questionable. So it really doesn't surprise me where their priorities lie.
Then they will explain its because their job is so dangerous, even though pizza delivery drivers, gas station workers, roofers, farmers, airport workers and many other jobs have a higher injury / fatality rate on the job according to the US department of labor. Plus add in the fact that it is well known rental companies falsely report stolen cars all the time, why are they holding a middle age lady at gun point and getting her down on her knees? If someone's car was stolen, it can be life changing. They cant take the kids to school, buy groceries, get to work etc. Not everyone has great insurance, or the ability to rent a car on such short notice. (Some people even have no insurance, ad bad as that is) The cops *should* be stopping stolen cars. They *shouldn't* be using some shoddy AI program to detect them however.
Imagine renting a car, getting arrested at gunpoint, then the rental company blaming YOU for that situation because of their negligence? After that comment from their lawyer I would've raised my lawsuit from $500k to $5mil in a heartbeat.
I doubt that having the rental agreement would have made much difference. It shouldn't be a factor. I don't think the cops would have let them go if they had the rental agreement. Even so, you should always keep you rental agreement handy and in the car. When the cop asks for "license, registration and insurance" the rental agreement is the registration. It is like the pink slip on your personal vehicle.
@@greybeard5123 Even if they had the rental agreement they still would have had guns pointed at them and been handcuffed. This is a constitutional violation of their civil rights.
@Sarge57 Agree. I've pointed out on other threads on this video that car theft is a crime of stealth. The police response and policies seem appropriate for car jacking, not simple theft.

I open carry on my property. So if I happen to be in my front yard and someone walks or drives by and sees a firearm, would that be brandishing? I don't believe so, i would think it would be removal from a holster or bringing a rifle into a ready position. Nobody with any common sense will do that job anymore. That was done intentionally by design to introduce martial law whenever they want. Who else you gonna hire chief?
Your problem starts with the fact that you call these thugs "law enforcement." They break more laws than they enforce. A cop's job is to create revenue and to act as enforcers for the establishment. Do you really believe things would be like this without their blessing? America has the highest prison population in the world for a reason.

And even then wouldn’t the obvious defense just be “I am still innocent you must be mistaken if you think you witnessed me committing a crime!”
What I find crazy is that they are willing to shoot you if you're in a stolen car, but when I had my car stolen, the portland police could not have cared less.
It isn't any better in the suburbs. I had to pester the Washington County Sheriff's office for two days before they would even let me file a stolen vehicle report when my truck was stolen.
They don't want to do any detective work ever. They just go around pulling people over hoping they happen to catch someone committing a crime. I mean just look what they do all day, they spend half their time hiding somewhere trying to catch speeders.
It's time to move out of Portland! I used to live there also. Or rather a few miles from there. I worked in Hillsboro. I'm glad to be far away from there. A car is stolen about every 28 minutes there.
The same thing happened to me and my buddy in Florida! A former employee of the company we were working for took this truck we were driving and went home to Alabama, so the company reported it stolen and never told the police they got it back! BUT if you are accused of anything, and can PROVE with that constant video surveillance, that you were ELSEWHERE at the time, even if you KNOW the WHOLE WAY has been recorded with no dead angles and no bridge to hide under, etc, they WON'T provide evidence to defend, and even if they did, the prosecution would try and invalidate the evidence of innocence based on the fact it wasn't what the system was designed for...
Those plate readers are severely flawed, they make errors with different states so a car could be stolen in Arkansas but someone with the same plate but in Arizona can be detained.

Cops stopped him they didn't pull guns one officer put his hand on his gun while another approached and told the guy to keep his hands on the wheel. They got him out of the car and cuffed him after about 30 min dispatcher called was told it was a mistake. Doesn't matter how politely the cop is speaking to her it's just wrong to treat people this way. At least cuff them in the front so they are comfortable while having their basic constitutional rights violated by these authoritarian knuckle draggers.
They were cuffed for "Officer Safety." Cuffing them in front would show that they weren't primarily concerned with safety and so had no reason to cuff them at all.
Cops forget that they don't need to handcuff EVERYBODY, it IS possible to arrest people without cuffing them, but they forget that (or never understood it in the first place) and think they do have to handcuff EVERYBODY and do it from the back no matter what, no matter the circumstance, even if it doesn't call for it. They're very simple-minded creatures with very small brains with very few neurons and even fewer wrinkles. They're not very capable of independent thought.
The cop being so "polite" makes it all the more infuriating. He clearly knows this level of abuse is not necessary, but he continues to participate anyway. Any officer that remains employed by any police department that does this crap is just as guilty as the politicians and bureaucrats that create these problems.

Every bit of this was unreasonable. Once the "AI" hit, someone should have called the rental company to verify. The whole felony stop was outrageous and has no place in a free society. A government employee's weapon should never be touched until there is a clear and present threat. PERIOD.

Mack - Yes. But so is the FBI throwing more than a thousand citizens in a D.C. Gulag for more than 3 years on January 6th. Midnight raids, kicking in peoples doors, all for what? And did you forget what the government did to all of us 3 years ago because of a virus?
@@adrpals2324*"She should of found an attorney like Saul."* of /əv/ preposition 1. expressing the relationship between a part and a whole. "the sleeve of his coat" 2. expressing the relationship between a scale or measure and a value. Thanks for your time.
