As a child our parents bought a few acres on the side of a fully forested mountain (small mountain..lol) in Oklahoma. They sold everything and we moved to the property. We had one power plug high up on a tree and that was it. Our parents began building our home/cabin. For 8 months we camped. Literally. Most evenings after dinner we hopped in the station wagon and went to a lake to swim. We used the campground restrooms there to shower before going "home". I was the oldest at 8. Two younger brothers. All in our early 50's now, hands down, no arguments whatsoever....those 8 months are STILL TO THIS DAY the best memories of our early life. We cherish every memory of that time. Im not exaggerating one bit! My father still saddens when reminded of the later loss of that property in the divorce. (Not related to that time at all). All children, actually, most humans I believe ultimately live better lives and are happier when closer to nature. To the earth. Whether by camping, farming, or just being outside more than inside...we are healthier all around. Some prefer the ocean, or desert, others great prairies and others deep jungles or mountainous woods. There's somewhere for everyone. My 2 cents. Thanks for sharing.🥰
Agreed. See my daughter book, "Raised in Ruins" about childhood in a burnt out cannery in the coastal SE. Alaskan wilderness. Challenges yes, but as the mother says here the meeting them builds confidence.
If you have ever met this family you would know how truly incredible they really are. The kids actually get a chance to grow up as kids and not stuck in a house on a phone. Most amazing journey and people and love to see their journey and can't wait to see where it takes them next. Side note... I'm obsessed with their Jeep setup. Truly one of a kind and built with so much purpose.
@@danielsal5442 Exactly! It's not an unusual comment for these days. And, to have goals means you have to have some kind of plan to achieve them. Otherwise they are just desires, which everyone has 😁
Not really, it's just one word replacing another but it basically means the same thing! We "Plan" on going to Utah this spring! My "Goal" is to be in Utah by May! They both fall under the object of one's ambition!
@chriselsworth (dad in this video) is one of my oldest friends back from our windsurfing racing days. I must say that he and his family are a true inspiration. Keep killing it Chris!
This is the most unique, intelligently thought out, and organized living choice yet! The way they travel and live is fascinating and adventurous. I am impressed and think that their approach to life would make an excellent show to watch and learn how to be independent in a variety of situations. Wow! 😍
If u describe living in a tent as independant. I.just hope no harm comes to the kids out there alone. And they don't get them removed and split up into scary fostor homes.
What a brilliant family...and what an amazing childhood for these two gorgeous boys. Articulate, confident and learning life lessons along the way. The rig is incredibly well thought out and with everything they need. This family seems so contented and joyful... proving less really is more. Congratulations, many more happy years of adventure and travel. Hello from Australia.
Great ideas on the setup and my hat off taking the kids on this journey. Showings your kids that life is not on a phone screen I think is the most important to show to future generations. They're already showing sings that they are ( like the comment below) above average for the "normal" in our days so congrats on that. You are a good inspiration
Hi! It took a couple hours and some help from some new friends who happened along to flip it back over. Chris was able to repair the next day. One of these days we’ll get the video edited and up on our channel!
Jenna, I love your videos and have never commented, but, this one takes the cake. The absolute ingenuity of this family just blows me away. I wouldn't want to live like they do, but, I definitely admire it. Keep the videos coming!
Hmmm. I just kept thinking that they could probably have the same lifestyle in an all-terrain mobile home, which would be better appointed for family living.
They're like a modern day version of a pioneer family. Instead of having a covered wagon they have a jeep with a covering over it, instead of having 2 horses they have 300+ horse power. They still live outside, and cook outside like the pioneer families! I wish every child could experience camping at least once!
I agree all the comments so negative about taking your kids to lice this life has either no kids or has never been camping. My kids love to go camp and sadly we can't go as often but if I showed this to my 13 year old she would give her life to travel this way.
I understand what you're trying to say, but that comparison is awful. The hardships of the pioneers were tremendous. In today's modern world we have it extremely easy with all the gadgets and gizmos and gas-powered vehicles etc etc.
Loved this family's ingenuity, cohesiveness, and wonder. Julie and Chris definitely get the #1 Dad and #1 Mom awards from me. Oliver and Freddy are true testaments to their parenting skills. Great kids. Thank you for sharing and giving us a peek into your alternative lifestyle. Makes one envious.
@Don't Shoot I think the dad wants this life and he's chosen it in the mom's nutty crazy about the dad. So the boys will have to live in a little bed next to the mom and dad. They never get anything beyond what the mom and dad want. I really truly find this horrible these boys deserve to be in school with Playmates and having a school routine that can build their life. Not mommy and daddy's getaway fun. It's just sad and wrong. These boys deserve so much better the parents are selfish and self-centered.
Don't be envious the first time you had to lay four of you in a row in that little jeep. Not being able to turn over or fart. How ridiculous no bathroom they are just a couple of people who didn't take the responsibilities of parenting appropriately. Who are living the life they want and depriving their children of the stability of a family life with friends and school and teacher. These two people shouldn't have had kids children deserve better than this.
@@katherinekeon7034 If you actually watched the video you would have heard them talk about the boys loving their camping trips so much that they decided to go full time. The kids are young yet, so are quite adaptable. I'm guessing that when it starts to become problematic the parents will make some changes. You say the boys never get anything they want, but at the moment they are having the time of their lives and building wonderful family relationships and memories. It's obviously what the boys want as well. Deserve to be in school? I would have *loved not* being in school at that age!! At least they have each other. And, the whole idea that kids "need" lots of other kids as "playmates" is a relatively recent idea. We need to look beyond the ways we have been programmed to believe that certain things are "normal" or even "desirable." Who says so!??!

Well, thing is there's a real world outside camping, where you need to have an education to be able to work, study and live. While I thing their camping set up could be amazing for holidays, it is not going to be good for kids on the longer run. The scholling delay could impair the kids future. Bad schooling = no univ= probably not great jobs opportunity. So yeah, no school for kids yaaaaay when your are 7yo, but it's actually for the best when it comes to be able to work as functionnal member of the society and to have a minimum of skills so you don't end up in bad places. If you care about your kids.
It's really impressive and incredible... Obviously not my cup of tea but I am impressed by their unique and adventurous way of living. Their kids are adorable and very confident.
Love your build ❤️ As a Jeep Wrangler owner...I'm totally amazed No... Absolutely Amazed..I have a 2 door and groceries is about it... you've got a whole house with you I salute you ... brilliant rig 👍👍
I m all for alternative living and glad they enjoy this lifestyle! For myself I’ve never been interested in living a nomadic lifestyle. I lived in a tiny home yrs ago and enjoyed that.
I am absolutely certain that children raised in an environment like this will be much more capable of problem-solving and less likely to break down in the face of medium to advanced problems this is so great! The friends I was always jealous of where the ones with adventurous parents their parents seem to actually love each other which was very strange to us. But their family operated as a team made that much stronger than the sum of their parts
Honestly I'm usually the first one to side eye parents who make their kids live in such small quarters and this lifestyle they had no say in. However, I'm glad I watched this through because I was wrong about this family. They all seem extremely happy and content and I genuinely think the parents are prioritizing their kids happiness and well being
@@amandinemanddyna2705 Her comment made perfect sense. There are more nomadic lifestyles abroad than in places that are city oriented like the US and UK.
@Coco I thought your comment was thought provoking, thank you. My husband and I with our 7yr old daughter live in an RV and have for the last year. We had to do this because we lost our home and didn't have the money to buy a sticks and bricks home. Honestly the 3 of us are closer and happier than ever 😁
@Coco Yes, that is correct. But their lives are based on survival and a lot of hard work. What we see in these videos are more of adventure taking; which there is nothing wrong with it. The children love it and are learning a lot. But children grow, adults get older. So this nomadic type of living in countries like US, Canada and UK is mostly short lived. The nomadic tribes of Mongolia, China, Russia and Africa way of life is all they know and have. No electricity, no internet, no running water, no solar energy, little or no medicine, and in most of these places, no gas driven vehicles. That is a real nomadic life, and it is hard.
This is the most interestng setup I've ever seen across this platform. Honestly, it's not my thing - cramped space, canopy tent as sleeping quarters - but hey, what's important is that the kids love it and enjoy it. Kudos to both parents making this setup a great experience, especially for their children to be close to nature.
This video was great! The comments by some folks, not so much. You did a great video here Jenna. This is a great lifestyle choice for some. Others can live as they choose. That's the beauty of what's left of a free country.
Wow, one of the most unique living situations I have seen. I loved it when she said "I don't have plans anymore, I have goals". And, they are using starlink! And, they named their vehicles Spirit and Opportunity! I wonder if he works for an aerospace company? Keep it up Jenny, that was great.
In my opinion, as long as this family has the essentials for living a happy and healthy life (and they've thought of all thay need) then I'm in total agreement with it... the children are experiencing different things all the time and it's educational... being one with nature is never a bad choice... be safe on your travels and Enjoy!!!💯🌎🌍
This family is a modern day pioneer family with a jeep and trailer as their covered wagon. What a great experience for the kids and it will benefit them for the rest of their lives, God bless you!
This is luxury.......I traveled the world for 20 years making Natural History & Wildlife Films and have lived under much worst conditions. This is fabulous! Bravo! I'm assuming that at some point one or both of you gets online and does some work to support yourselves????
They clearly are very wealthy. I dont think they work at all as it not only was not mentioned but when mentioning the starlink and video calls they mention only calling family.
You are without a doubt the coolest family I have ever met!!! What an amazing adventure for all of you, but especially for your adorable boys [ who gave us such an interesting lesson about your vehicle!! ]. Talk about organized!!!! WOW ! You have that covered like no one else in the world!! Thank you so much for sharing ~ your lifestyle is breathtakingly beautiful ~ enjoy every moment of every day. Sending you light, love, peace, joy and abundance always. I love you.
Wow. What a smooth and well thought out camping set up for a family. I love the school of life. Way better to be in nature than stuck in the burbs, 9-5 and school system. You can tell they're living their best life. This gives me something to aim for.
For sure! We are constantly telling people not to let cost be a barrier to adventure. That's the great thing about this lifestyle. You can build a great rig on almost any budget and hit the trail. We run into so many different people and builds. It's really rewarding to see how each of us approach our builds differently.
Fantastic set up! I know what you mean about feeling the most at home on the road❣️Excellent warm shower idea! 😊 I'm glad to know you can still get something like a whole map on a digital display screen. I grew up in a similar way, many years ago and maps were the first things I learned to read, and my favorite. 🗺😃
I've watched a lot of your video's, I mean, ALOT, and I have to say I didn't want this one to end I could have listened to this family and the fun they're having and all the fascinating parts to their build for hours! I never new about this cross country trail... When I finally decide which kind of tiny place on wheels I want, I will be on the that trail first!! Thank you so much for all of the videos you produce and a super big thank you for this video!! LOVE IT!!!! ❤☺❤☺
Wow! How smart is your oldest. This whole setup is really unique.i haven't Seen this type of setup. The kids get more education doing this than anything else. Clever shower as well. Overall,I give it a three thumbs up.👍👍👍💞☮🧞♀️
"Please be sure to like, comment and subscribe..." Well, it wasn't hard to like this one! Great life for the kids (including problem solving), great to see the unity between the parents and the light of enthusiasm in their eyes. Definitely nicely thought through from first aid to kitchen bench (commercial grade stainless steel) to power to water purification and storage to portable toilet. And it got me thinking, when she said, "I don't have plans anymore, I have goals."
As a camper who has lived outside in a car, van, rv, tent, and back pack, this is a dream. You did fantastic. A well thought out, comfortable, convenient, and practical set up. Love the off- road capabilities, storage vehicle, tent, and jeep ceiling. Well presented with so much attention to the specifics of what you've done. Thank you for sharing. Great video.
This is a great set up, very ingenious. I noticed that they were traveling through that heavy snow, they sleep in a tent in the snow? I believe that might get a little cold
We keep 4 seasons of clothing in the jeep and have multiple sets of sleeping bags for different conditions. Sometimes we even have to double bag it, but we all cuddle up and it's never been a problem. The bigger issue is that if we are not careful we all get soggy after a few days in the snow.
Love this! I had a similar experience as a child in Australia with my parents. These folks are much more advanced and set up /organization/self sufficiency but this is simply brilliant! Fantastic experience for the kids - Nothing impacts you more in education than the experience to travel to encounter new experiences and people. Great parents ;) As long as you have access to a library you are great! Well done 👍
I dont think they work anymore, likely come from money and built wealth up when young and now do this and no need to work. If you have 100k to drop on a new vehicle set up to travel full time in you probably dont need to stress about money too much lol
Maximum time with the parents: these children's communication skills are way above average because they are staying 100% of their days with two people who adore them and teach them. What a terrific education!
I disagree. Ask the Paskowitz kids how they liked living like that. Kids need a stable home, and friends, and activities that help them learn social skills.
@@mallorymcguire833 Yes and the younger boy sounds like he has a speech impairment which may need speech therapy! This seems like a very hard way to live unnecessarily!
Interesting! Hats off to them for this one, even that one is to tiny for me personally but love that it works for their family! Refreshing to hear how in sync they are and that’s what it is all about
What a unique and well thought out traveling home. You seem to have everything that your family needs to survive anywhere. I love the tent(sleeping hut) 9 feet above the ground.
This is very nice! Hey Julie and Chris! You guys have a great life! But, you need to get some attachable sides for the awning so you will have a nice enclosed space for bad, or just cold, weather - without having to spend that time in the tents or jeep. You can even get a very small wood-burning stove that can be used under the awning even after you have the enclosures up. Kinda like a big tent as your house! Something like what BONJOUR Video, and one or two others, has on their awning set-up. You have a great set-up otherwise that's for sure! God bless y'all.
Wow what an awesome setup and your boys are so smart. They will make awesome spouses someday! Love that you both teach them all that you are. Love the family dynamic also.
I would LOVE to see more families like this🙌🏻! Wishing others will be inspired from your story… you guys would rock teaching classes for young parents / soon to be parents interested in this lifestyle. Many blessings! Thank you for sharing your beautiful family life with the world, much appreciation! ❤️
This setup is UNBELIEVABLE. I'm amazed at all of the thought that went into the vehicle, trailer, and tent. I will definitely try to keep it in mind for the future. Some great ideas.
Even if this isn't a good fit for your family, you can't help but admire all the hard work, love and dedication that went into building a lifestyle like this. Big Props!👏🏼💕
Great idea and a wonderful way to see one's country and raise kids. If I could start over, I would very likely have done something similar... And, I like the build and the organisation of your Jeep/trailer.... really cool. 🙂
