Why Jaimee Foxworth was written out of "Family Matters" after the fourth season is beyond me. It's like Carl & Harriette didn't know Judy Winslow existed afterward. Also, why Randy Josselyn (Rodney Beckett) was written out after season two's a real head-scratcher, too. There was also no explanation as to why Rachel Crawford (Telma Hopkins) practically abandoned her son Richie - leaving him in the care of the Winslows after season four. In spite of its inconsistencies throughout the series, "Family Matters" is still a first-rate, top-notch sitcom nonetheless! Bravo, Family Matters (1989 - 1998)!
The show's creator said her removal was because of budget considerations. Had the show gotten its final season, Judy would attend Steve and Laura's wedding and reveal she was living with Aunt Rachel in Detroit all this time.
Marty Mcfly they was supposed to have came out with a 10th season and her mother was going to bring Jamie aka Judy back on the show but Michelle Thomas died and never really have the chance to start filming it and there was parts that she was supposed to be in
I always felt like Harriett treated Judy as if she never existed. She spent more time with her nephew more than Judy and she gave Laura more attention.
I know and I never thought he was all that cute in fact I can't stand when boys have long hair. However even though I did like Judy she wasn't as cute as the one they had on the pilot that one looked around 5 to 7 where as this one I think was 9 or 10. So in a way I wished they had kept the other one on cause she was adorable where This Judy I like but she was never adorable
Honestly, I think they should've had Judy as Rachel's daughter and Richie's sister. IT would've fit in better than her being the third Winslow kid. Maybe she wouldn't have been written off the show if they had it that way.
Judy's mother wanted more money and they say her mom was a bit of a stage mom so they let her go. So it wouldn't have mattered if she was Rachel's daughter they still would have fired her. The didn't even have the decency to write her off the show she was here one episode and gone the next with nothing said about her absence
I love all the characters they should have gave judy a life a personality but no matter she will always be special to me it's amazing how we come to love these TV shows
@X Richmars urkel wasnt meant to be the star of the show. He was just supposed to visit the family in one or two episodes and that was it. But he was such a memorable character that the show ended up focusing on him. Next time you want to call someone an idiot stick to your reflection
I think ABC was competing with NBC on the cute kid factor. NBC had Raven Symone who was a huge hit with audiences. ABC tried to translate this with Bryton McClure.
@@arthurm.358 Why would they be half-siblings? And I hope it's not because of the ignorant skin shade notion. Remember Rachel is not dark, yet her and Harriet were sisters. I know shes not light-bright like Richie either, but most black families are not all one complexion.
Why Family Matters moved to CBS: In early 1997, CBS picked up Family Matters and Step by Step in a $40 million deal to acquire the rights to the programs from ABC. ABC then promised to pay Miller-Boyett Productions $1.5 million per episode for a ninth and tenth season of Family Matters. However, tensions had risen between Miller-Boyett Productions and ABC's corporate parent, The Walt Disney Company (which had bought the network in 1995 as part of its merger with ABC's then-parent Capital Cities/ABC Inc.). Miller-Boyett thought that it would not be a big player on ABC after the network's recent purchase by Disney. In turn, Miller-Boyett Productions agreed to a $40 million offer from CBS for a 22-episode season for both Family Matters and Step By Step (along with a new production from the company, Meego). CBS scheduled Family Matters along with Meego and Step By Step as a part of its new Friday lineup branded as the CBS Block Party and scheduled the family-oriented block against ABC's TGIF lineup, where the two series originated. Although Jo Marie Payton was reluctant to continue and wanted to leave, feeling the show had jumped the shark years prior, she agreed to stay for the first half of the season to keep continuity and, partway through, her part was recast with Judyann Elder. Family Matters, while it continued to lose viewership compared to previous years, was initially a modest success on CBS, beating the show that replaced it, You Wish. Meego, however, was a ratings failure and was canceled after six weeks. Near the end of the ninth season, the cast was informed that a tenth and final season was planned, so scripts and plot synopses were written for the show. After the holiday special season, CBS replaced Meego with Kids Say the Darndest Things, and with that show's child-centered focus, it was placed in Family Matters' 8/7c time slot, with Family Matters pushed an hour later and paired with Step by Step. The ratings for Family Matters fell even further in this later slot, and the entire Block Party except for Kids Say... was canceled in spring 1998, with the remaining episodes burned off in the summer.
They could of kept Judy on the show they paid more attention to Urkel and little Richie and they made more money then her so she got upset they didn't pay her much and they didn't give her too many lines after season 2
@@jaywad8876 The truth is her real life mom wanted her to have more money, but the company denied it, so that's why she left due to budget cuts. She was offered money to come back to the show, but she was making the same amount doing porn! Also, if the show continued on into its final season, Judy would have attended Steve and Laura's wedding and revealed she had been living with her aunt Rachel in Detroit. Had the show not been cancelled Rachel and Judy would have returned home for Steve and Laura's wedding.
They could have done more with her. Maybe she could have been the wise cracking tomboy like alex on step by step, then when she got older she could compete with laura for popularity. She grew up pretty so it would have worked.
richie and judy should have been siblings... they were always together and fussing with each other like siblings. If they had made Judy rachel's daughter and Richie's sister, I think that would have saved her character.. Judy seemed to had gravitated more to Rachel and it was like Richie and Judy were inseparable lol
I don't have nothing wrong with " Family Matters". I love the show. It's my favorite one. I've got nothing to complain about to them just to say. I love you all.

@Travis James the fans were the ones who wanted Urkel to come back after his first appearance in Laura's first date they were even chanting Urkel also the show was about to be cancelled tbh it they never wrote Steve Urkel Family Matters would have been cancelled after the first season
