I used to see and NP as my primary care provider and I honestly loved seeing her because she would talk and listen to me compared to doctors. My pediatrician was great too but I feel as tho sometimes appointments are so rushed you need to go in with your questions written as it’s hard to think of them on the spot!
Hi Liz! Could you do a video on the FNP Job Market? How easy/difficult was it for you/your friends to find a job right out of graduation? Is it competitive? And any tips for future FNPs. Thank you! :) I just applied to Purdue for my MSN in FNP!
The market is pretty much saturated right now with FNPs. It took me 5 months to get a job after graduation. I have talked to recruiters in different states that say the same thing.
As a college student with an on-campus NP, I can attest to the level of connection felt by myself to my provider. It is truly a special profession and one I hope I will be working in someday. Thanks for all of the great videos!
Great video Liz, thank you for highlighting don’t do this for the $. I am a bit irritated about people switching to psych because the $ is better. Oh dear lord they are in for a rude awakening. Keep up the good work
"I'm not bitter." 😂 I've gotten a lot of random tests done that didn't show anything only to have to advocate to get the actual tests I've needed done as a patient. Ugh
I think because I come across as sweet and quiet on first impression people never expect me to be funny. My humor is pretty dry, dark and a little twisted. I get a lot of surprised looks.
Thank you for your soapbox topic of knowing your limits. It’s a safety issue and you show more wisdom to hand the case off than to try to do it all yourself.
Loved this video Nurse Liz! Your videos help my motivation quite a lot, I was denied from my dream nursing school but am reapplying this year and hope to pursue a MSN further down the line of my future nursing career. You continue to inspire me!
I found the point you made about the varying perspectives of an NP and an MD due to the NPs nursing background very interesting, would love to see a video from you eventually on this!
I'm a year away from starting to work as an RN, but I'm confident that my ultimate goal is to be an FNP. What RN jobs would you recommend looking into to best prepare me to be a well-rounded FNP?
hi Liz! Love the video! Congratulations on 40k subscribers. I remember when I began watching you last year. Question: how do you deal with being an NP, where the work never ends ( i.e. follow up, labs, insurance, billing etc) vs RN where you clock out and your done for the day? I'm struggling as a new NP who still does bedside nursing. I sometimes think bedside is easier bc know what to do.
Thank you!! I’ve really had to shift my mentality to embracing the fact it won’t ever all be done. I can just keep chunking away at it. Which was a hard shift because at the bedside I could be “done” with all my tasks.
Hi Liz! I am at the beginning of my FNP journey and would like to know how many FNP’s you know work in women’s health! My goal is women’s health but I can’t find an WHNP program to fit my schedule. Thoughts? Thanks!
Can you please do a video on how to manage time at clinic as well as how to manage patient's expectations on how many complaints they have in one visit? This is where I struggle- patient coming in for a physical PLUS 3-4 complaints.
People always assume that I am both older than I am and that I am quiet because I carry myself a certain way in public. Boy are they wrong on that last one!!
Great video, Liz! Thank you! I must admit, I was one of those that assumed family practice would be boring, that you’d see the same thing over and over again...but it makes sense that it’s almost endlessly interesting, because you see a little bit of everything, all the time.
