Trapped overnight in a high-rise condo with a young pregnant woman, Kate is forced to help when the stranger goes into labor. Buddy's hair-streaking attempt ends in disaster. Part 2 Here: • Family - Princess in ...
My Favorites are Shirley Partridge and Carol Brady ❤ oh and Samantha from Bewitched. I would love to have a combination of the three. Beautiful, sensitive, smart, funny and cool. With a touch of naughty/magic !
Women like Kate Lawrence don’t exist in the 21st century. And if they do, writers don’t write them like this anymore, which is sad. This is like watching a beautiful play.
She may have been the bread and butter of the family but never the whipped cream. She lacked whimsy. She was always a little too serious in a Kristen Stewart kind of way
@ Spot on, not even allowed a little fun while having sandwiches for lunch. ...and Buddy was even working on the laundry when she came home. Gee whiz, she never quite seemed to be fun.
@@parkslopemo i agree. In nearly all of the episodes she is so heavy. I like this series, but it is true that couples function differently today.....and it isnt bad, just different.
She reminds me so much of my grandmother and she was the backbone of our entire family and loads of fun..it seemed as if she could do everything and she made it look easy but it couldn't have been
I love everything about the show. From dialing the telephone.. to picking up a racket and playing 🎾…doing the dishes by hand, or putting them in the dishwasher….. people communicating and talking and actually maybe having a squabble or two not texting my phone and being completely void of any human contact this is how life is supposed to be. We’re screwed.
I was the biggest fan of this show back "in the day". Don't recall this episode...thought I saw them all! Thanks for putting these here for us! There has never been another one this good since!
I never knew this was a series nor have I ever seen any of it back in the day but wow 2023 and I am so glad I have watched the entire series. This one completely escaped my life until now whoever posted this kudos to you.!!
Wow do I wish I had Kate as a mom. I love my dad but my mom is not very loving. I wish I was a teenager in the 70s. I just can't take this crap of today. I grew up in the 80s. Born in 75. We watched this in the 80s. Reruns. Good though. I miss my husband. He was born in 62. He passed away in February unexpectedly. I can't even Express how much I miss him. The music and the TV shows from this era really reminds me of him.
I love the device the writers use...talking to calm a girl in labor...to let Kate describe, and talk about her feelings for, her children. In all the years of the series, the viewer never heard her inner feelings about her children. That was neat.
Not true...in the very first episode Kate said a lot about being a mother and about being a woman. In the pilot she talked to Buddy about contemplating an abortion.
Can you even imagine in the 70’s having your own bathroom? I loved this show in the 70’s when I was in my 20’s, now at 67 years old not so much. But I will still watch.
"nothing can happen to mom". What a powerful emotion. Moms hold such a massive position in the family till thoughts of moms leaving or dieing seem far and beyond. But it can happen at anytime. Be the best mom u can and learn to love hard. If u dont have a relationship with ur mom. Pray for her. And pray for the guardien u do have.
@@XxowendanxX I had a lovely victory recently. Neighbor across street had been blasting everyone out with loud music for months. He was warned, but ignored it. I finally called the cops. They came out and he kissed butt while they were there. As soon as they left, he cranked it up to nuclear level and stood in his yard yelling about how he owned his house and he'd play music as loud as he pleased. I called the cops again and they doubled back to catch him in the middle of his tantrum. This time he got a rather expensive ticket for disturbing the peace. He's been pretty docile since.
@@danacampbell8331 good for you! I'd be too scared to call the cops. If the dude found out maybe he'd flatten my tires. I have horrible luck with neighbors there's always an annoying bastard next door and a dog and loud music is usually involved. When I move I always try to find some place out in the country with no neighbors
Oh those 1970's! A brown and orange kitchen (we had Harvest Gold) and ladies could smoke their More cigarettes at the beauty parlour...my grandmother smoked More's until the 1980's when she switched to Eve's!
Lucky that the cigarette and some hair spray didn't cause a flare up. I remember people smoking on planes, in the movies, and in the supermarket. What a world back then.
I don't miss that smoking. I have so many allergies. I remember almost coughing up a lung when my friend's dad smoked in the station wagon when he took us to religious ed.
So many GREAT reminders of my youth! "NERTS" is my fave! I wonder if this show (which I watched religiously) is where I picked it up - I've said that as long as I can remember🤭! Thank you for sharing this Treasure😍!💝💯♾️
I understand that these shows sometimes make people feel even more sad when they recall their own childhoods. (It’s kind of like watching a happy Christmas movie if Christmas has only ever been a source of sadness.) But try to remind yourselves that this show, and all others like it, represents a highly idealized depiction of family life. If your own family-of-origin makes you sad rather than happy, join the club. I’m happy to welcome you since I’m a member. 🙂 And remember, most of us had family lives that were nothing like this show. You’re not an outcast minority in this regard, you’re part of the majority. 😊
If I had what Kate had in the 1970s ,for me it would have been the 1980s.a family 👪 ❤. I would have been very happy 😊. And never had taken it for granted 😊 ❤. Farhana.
I hope if any apartment or condominium actually did lock all the doors without making absolutely sure no one is still in there, that they stopped doing that. Maybe Kate and Lily could've sued them! At least they could've made sure the phones worked!
You folks obviously weren't born in the 50's. No one I knew wore gloves like Kate in the 70's or 80's. Or non-stop dresses or skirts. Guess we were more working class people and not elite.
Glad to see Kate finally revolt against having to DO EVERYTHING, and they STILL whine not recognizing how upset she is!! And REALLY, this labor sure advanced quickly! To just having one pain in a long time to full blown labor! Ha!! Writers! And! Buddy should have been made to walk around with her “blind streaks!!” Sneaking around dying her hair! These kids get away with murder!
How ARCHAIC! The mother doesn't have to play the "victim" by doing the laundry, grocery shoppiing and cleaning the kitchen. Just ask for the help. The lovely " family" members shouldn't have to be asked, either. If it's really a family, then everyone should pitch in.
@@beckygarcia4416 They focused on his death in one of the first episodes of the first season. They do not allow those first few seasons to be released anymore. John Rubenstein, who played Jeff and wrote the theme song, sued for some kind of copyright protection and blocked public access. It is a shame; the softer, smoother version of the theme song was beautiful to me. I loved to play it over and over due to the eloquence of the muted brass. The producers made him change it to the more lively version you hear on these later episodes. Not sure what the argument is about, but it is his prerogative. He was a talented musician.
@@Xanthas71 I was wondering if you have the episode entitled: From Russia With Love? It aired May 17, 1979. IMDB only lists the primary cast members so I'm assuming it's a lost or rare episode, & no other contributors have been able to update the credits.
@@Xanthas71 Ah, ok. I can appreciate that. Was just wondering since I've noticed it before. Thanks for posting, and replying!! I loved this show as a kid and I get so excited every time I see you've posted another episode!!
@33:57 - strange how she turns after her line. reminded me of annie wilkes in 'misery'. also, did i hear that right? kate actually considered abortion?
sküll düggery If you haven’t seen the very first episode/aka the pilot episode “The Best Years”, PLEASE WATCH. It is a must see. It will clear up a lot of your questions and you will understand some things about Kate AND Doug.
Not late at night ! No 24 hour news cycle. Most TV stations signed off around 1:00 or 2:00 am. Nothing but snow on the screen until the farm report at 5:00 AM.
I hate that for people who need them. It's not fair how messed up they usually are. So many times I've caught them lying about what is really said. They coddle the viewers as well by not telling the truth of whats being said. Really a pet peeve.
